Me too... slept part of the day cause of a headache... now I have to try and get some regular sleep...

Night... :cloud9:

Hi Lisa, welcome back. I bet you're glad the move is finally over, even though it was not without a few problems. Glad you are happy with your new apartment. I couldn't decide whether I should renew my AP or just buy a hopper for my next visit in Oct, but finally decided on the renewal...now I'm hoping for a "bounceback" offer again so I can maybe justify another trip in the spring :)

Kathe

Thanks!

I haven't been to the parks since Oct 06 so I'm pretty excited to be able to go often. (We skipped 07 to pay for the cruise).

Hello Everybody

Weather - sunny today but seem dull now

That was our cake topper - well sort of.

We used it as a head table centre piece.

I told my husband that I want that cakes for our 25th wedding anniversay ;)

We had a perfect day here today too, until around 5:00 when the sky opened up and it started pouring buckets and lightening and thundered. I went to see Mamma Mia with a friend tonight, loved it! Thought nobody would be out because of the rain, but of course it was packed!

Kathe

Oh I loved the film of Mamma Mia as I want to see it again but I think I wait until dvd::yes::

Hey Lisa!

Remember me?

Anyway, just saw your name and thought I'd drop in on you all. We are just about jumping out of our skins on the EB and wanted to thank all the DIS-sers who blogged on the May. You all set the standard for our trip and we hope to have as successful one as the May one was.

If you all want, I'm sure there will be several blogging, posting and what not so please feel free to drop by and say :wave2:

Have a good one. I will admit that we are not as talkative as you all were. I think you all hit thread 15 before we left and we are struggling get OUT of 13. YUCK! What an unlucky number. BTW, Joey Fatone will not be on the ship - rumor has it that some tweeny bopper group girls will be on it. Alas! Oh well, guess we'll make our own fun.

:yay: Hay Bubba! Hay V! Hope your all doing good.

Laura - I do remember you but I never got the chance to talking you and I saw you at the group photos. I still got your magnet.

Are u going back to Eastbound? Oh lucky you. I wish to go back too. I know four UK couples and family are going.

Have a fabulous times. I will reading your blog.

Thanks!

I haven't been to the parks since Oct 06 so I'm pretty excited to be able to go often. (We skipped 07 to pay for the cruise).

Lisa, good luck with your moving and hope everything go well in Florida.:thumbsup2

Now I am off to Carlisle for meeting for Deaf Outdoor Adventure.

I will be back next weekend.

Take CAre

We wish something like that had been available when we got married. :sad1:

Ours is more traditional for the times.:bride::groom:

Jan :earsgirl:

I suspect that we will never see two Mickeys.

Still, I can't wait to see our topper. I have no clue what it's going to look like, other than the style of the artist.

Thanks!

I haven't been to the parks since Oct 06 so I'm pretty excited to be able to go often. (We skipped 07 to pay for the cruise).

Looks like there will be more people to meet-up with when we're next in WDW!

John - another suggestion is the national Holocaust Museum, which is quite moving.

I went there last time I was in DC, and totally agree with you Ian . . . however, since Sophia is only 8, and has not studied that era of history, I am reluctant to take her there. I think it would be a lot to process for an 8 year old with no knowledge of the tragedy. When I was there, it affected me for weeks to follow. It was the ONLY museum I have ever been to where there was hardly a word spoken by anyone who was touring - and when there was, it was in whispers. Extremely moving.

Hey John,

April had a conference to go to in June and I made it a girls only trip - myself, DD Megan 20 and April 15. We ended up staying at the Sheraton in Tyson's Corner and took the metro in.

We too did not get Congress tickets but we ended up finding the Old Post Office which has a FREE 360 degree view of Washington. I was going to get into line at the Monument when the park ranger told me that the better view (all -around wise) was at the tower in the Old Post Office - where we were at. Apparently the view (which I have not experienced personally) is a bit obstructed. So after going there - you might want to head over to the Old Post Office Annex (eating place now) and visit there - as I said - its free. Megan was naughty and moved the wires (only slighty) and got an awesome picture of the view.

Also, in regards to the hop-on-hop-off bus, we did the one that you get from the Union Station. One of the stops is there but according to them they are the only ones authorized to go around the Mall and to Arlington. If you buy the 2 day ticket - its $35 but you can go both days.

Also, just in case you haven't heard, (I'm a day late and a dollar short I'm sure) but if you get a chance, hit the National Postal Museum right across from Union Station (BTW, great and good eats here too). I know its sounds boring - I said its not my cup of tea but when I went in - DD and I ended up getting kicked and didn't get a chance to see it all so we went back the next day. They have a neat machine where you can print out an old fashioned post card and send it. Keep in mind that it takes about 2-3 minutes to send it out - long but if there is not one in line - I recommend you let Sophia try it - DD and I ended up spending about 45 minutes printing postcards (another machine does that) and then going over to the stamp machine and sending it. You can also send it the old fashioned way via a person and box but this ones gives a little overview and shows the little ones the route of the letters. Nice for them.

ALSO, if you haven't heard, the NEWSEUM opened fairly recently and it is AWESOME! I highly recommend it. I didn't want to go there (again) thinking it would be boring but its FANTASTIC. Plan on spending almost an entire day there. We hit it about 4 on the 2nd to the last day and had to go back on the day we checked out of the hotel to catch the rest. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME. Some stuff they have there: a piece of the Berlin Wall, Pulitzer Prize Phtographs Gallery (AWESOME) Great Hall of News, Sports theater and one of the worlds largest flat screen TVs you can see from the street. They also have a tribute to 9/11 and its a tear jerker but I feel very important to remember. They have tissue boxes outside of the small room. Please go if you get a chance - you won't regret it. They also have a room that has newspapers dating back from the origins of our country. No photos in here and they are encased in plastic but you can pull the drawer out and view it its low light and as I said, no photos but definitely worth it. It is about 6 levels and the top is a penthouse view of the Capital Bldg so if you have a camera be sure to take it. It is an awesome trip and be sure to allot at least a minimum of 4 hrs in order to truly see it.

I wish I'd visited here before, I have a tons of pamphlets and stuff you might find interesting. Seeing it as a tourist was an amazing experience. The bad part was we didn't get to see Georgetown so I guess I have to go back.

BTW, really recommend if you get a chance to do the Segway tour - its was the most amazing experience and I'm seriously tempted to buy DH one. I have some pictures posted on my blog and some of my experiences if you want to go to my blog. I think I have a link in my signature.

We were at the Sheraton in Tyson's Corner and that was awesome. If you need anything else, although I'm sure the locals have answered any questions, please feel free to pm me. If your staying there longer than 6 days - I recommend getting the 7-day pass - allows unlimited metro access for the 7 days. I was there for about 14 days and ended up having to buy two but it was worth it.

Have fun! We sure did!

Wow! Great info! Thank You!

We are only there Saturday through Wednesday - this was a bit last minute. I know there is lots we will not get the opportunity to see, but since this is just a first time - I am sure it will not be the only time!

Kelly... Nan...

This is what Ian is really expecting for the cake...

This is what Jackie and Cherie will be doing on Saturday!

I love this one:

miniature_tiered.jpg

AND I'd like one of the cupcakes right now, please.

Even though we couldn't see much of the one you made in that photo...I'm thinking you should just be going to Kelly's and making your own cake! I think that's what we'll need to do, to go with the hotdogs for Casy's that we'll be having for dinner that night. :lmao:

Now there is an idea!

I'm back on the grid finally!! 2 weeks with no internet access was painful!

Of course not as painful as the delivery of our "household goods" (as the government likes to refer to our stuff) was yesterday.

They packed and moved everything. Our living room tv stand got pancaked! As did one of our standing floor lamps. The matching lamp is MIA as is a box of DVDs and a plastic storage tub. What should have been a four hour delivery turned into 8 as the people on the CA end did not match the inventory sheet up to the item numbers correctly. We were shocked when they showed up with a roll of number stickers and had to write everything down.

When we moved 6 years ago that company used bar codes and scanner likeyou use at Target for the gift registry. They then scanned all the boxes again when they came off the truck. There were like 2 that got missed and took 15 minutes to find. These guys all said they never heard of such new fangled devices.

Our new apartment is great and once we unpack everything it will be better.

We are off to WDW tomorrow to buy our FL Res Premium APs. 3rd day in Florida we went and got our FL licenses so we are good to go!

Hope everyone is doing well and sorry for such a long post!

Hi Kelly,
Our cable installers managed to get our cable going last night at 8pm - so we only missed the first 1/2 hour. Loved the giant LED screen!!!

Lisa, I see that you are officially a Floridian! :woohoo: Congrats you made it... even if your TV didn't.

Yes, Olympics Day 2 has me wanting to put an archery and badminton set up in our back yard.

This is what Jackie and Cherie will be doing on Saturday!

Ice three, eat one!

That mini-cake with cupcakes is VERY NICE...wink, wink, nudge, nudge....

LisaG....forgot to say glad you've made it to your new home! Hope you love living in Florida.

Gotta dash and meet Peg for breakfast.
Yesterday the veneer came off my front tooth while eating dinner. I was able to just press it back on and it's sticking for now (a'la Lee Press On Nails!), but will have to book an emergency dental appointment on Monday...what fun!

later kids.....

Thanks Lisa - let me know if you find anything out. I found the White House site too. I am more than willing as I said to be the one to get up early and wait if there is a chance to get tickets. Even if I can't go, I know Amy really wants to, and the girls would probably really like it.

Don't sweat it though, or go to too much trouble.

Using the wi-fi now at my brother's hospital room while visiting him.

Back from my "other" job, the Sunday WW meetings.

I started "walking clubs" where the members at each meeting put on a sign up sheet the distance they walked that week, and then I total up the distance covered by that group.

Each meeting selected a destination to "walk to". My 11:00 AM group selected Cabo San Lucas, with their first stop being Memphis (as a group, they walked 117 miles this past week).

I also think I am "back in the groove" because I lost 2.5 pounds this week. Sukie, the creep is down over 9 lbs since the cruise (he's such goody two shoes over-achiever).

Our afternoon is planned with so much fun, adventure and excitement, I just may have to slap myself ... we're going to Lowes to buy filters for the central air conditioner.

Afternoon everyone...

Woke up to really bad storms today... wondering if it washed out the racing up at Saratoga... it did the other day... first time since the 1980's they said...

Of course I ran between the lightening strikes to go to Oliver's for my Eggs Benny... YUM...

Jackie.. I'm with you... I'd be eating the frosting off the knife!!!

Can somebody come and walk on my back? I need it right in the middle... got a spot that won't give this time... I'll pay in Disney Dollars... ;)

John,

You're right. I had forgotten how young Sophia was.

When I was 8 years old, the holocaust had only happened 18 years before, so in people's minds it was still current events and not history.

It would be a lot for a child to process without the proper preparation or context.

Try not to get too excited... but you know... Sukie is liable to be recognized again... he does have a fan club at Lowes doesn't he? :upsidedow

Oh.. and Ian... this weeks History Detectives features the Block house here in the Stockade - which as the crow flies is only 1 1/2 miles from my house... :goodvibes (and it's usually the part of Schenectady that floods...:sad2: )

The bakery that created this miniature tiered cake is actually in California.

Do you think they would drive 250 mile to deliver it and some cupcakes?
