HI MARILYN!!!! :yay:

&

Deborah!!!! :flower3:

We also got milk delivered by the milkman, but it came in bottles.

My dad talks of how, in the winter, he used to go around to the doors where the milk was delivered and have creamsicles.

When the milk was delivered it was usually early in the morning and the cream at the top would would freeze and move out the top of the bottle. He would break this off and have instant creamsicles.

How did they make them? More than one filter attached somehow? Are they something that can be worn by the kids or are they wall decorations?

Jan :earsgirl:

Just take a small coffee filter (I don't drink coffee so I don't know the sizes), draw a picture on one side, wet with a squirt bottle and then peel it open (the coffee filter is actually a cone shape when opened normally so just peel open one side) and presto - instant angel wings.

After it dries out it is suitable for framing or putting on the wall or what have you.

This looks like so much fun. I was wondering when the parade was going to be there. Shannon looks like she is having so much fun. How did the girls get that blond hair?

Shannon's nickname in highschool was Blondie.

I used to be a little tow-headed boy growing up.

If you scroll through some of the pics on my facebook you will get an idea of what I mean.

For instance here is me with Mickey Mouse in 1978 (It's a little blurry but hey it was 1978)

Hello

I was reading the internet and see something strange there and I cannot image if it was us, how we communicate:scared1:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7517577.stm

but would be nice land in Orlando:rotfl:

Scottishwee35

I remember several years ago hearing about a guy who was flying to Oakland, CA from maybe L.A. Somehow he ended up on a flight to Aukland, New Zealand. Kind of the same story, he was very tired, fell asleep as soon as he got on the plane, next thing he knew...he was in Aukland!

I am happy to report I finished my first MBA class with an A people!! Don't know how, but I pulled it off.

Congratulations, V! I found that my graduate school classes were easier to do well in because they were relevant, since by then I was teaching. Maybe it's the same for you.

We did have a good time but nothing compared to the cruise :sad1: Did you miss me?

Of course! It was so quiet with you gone!

In P mode I usually set the WB to manual if I can do it (or remember is more like it). I find it works tonnes better than most of the other settings.

ISO I like to keep low, because the lower the ISO the less "noise" you get on the final product. However, if it is dark and/or I am shooting something moving, then I will acquiesce and put it to a higher number or put it to auto.

Sv (sensitivity) mode allows you to manually change just the ISO while shooting, which can be helpful in that you can set the ISO and the camera will change everything else to make it work.

Thanks for the explanation! Just one question...what's a tonne?:lmao: :lmao:

I've heard other research on it as well, I mean about the suicides. I have also heard that kids that don't get these types of drugs are much more likely to take illegal drugs because they make them feel normal :confused3 Everyone has their own opinions on the subject and the only thing you can do is trust your doctor. It doesn't help that the news is saying that teachers can prescribe ADD meds. I've never seen a teacher with a prescription pad.

What??? I hadn't heard that...seriously??

I haven't heard the word, "marketing" for grocery shopping in many years.

Was that used in the UK? Was it used anywhere else in the US, outside of NYC?

My mom used that word. I hadn't thought of that in years!

As you all might be able to tell from this spate of posting, this is the first time today I have gotten any time to myself.

I would say work is hard and stressful, except I'm too busy to notice.

Cheri,

I'm not sure if condolences or congratulations are in order, one never knows what people are thinking.

Did Jackie send you the Consumer Reports stuff? If you want me to look anything up, let me know.

Well, I think it's probably better overall to have a new car rather than one that's been pretty damaged and fixed. The down side for me is having a car payment again, after looking forward to not having one. But I'm OK with how it turned out.

No, Jackie hasn't sent me anything yet. Jackie....yoooo hoooo!

So I told him we just found something else he's good at -- history! Of course, then he asked, "What's history?" ;)

Aren't kids great?? I'm glad you have some solutions for Tyler. :goodvibes

:sad1: I'm going to have to wait for pictures. Too bad somebody couldn't rig up a webcam, with sound too. That would be SO COOL for the bunch of us who can't come!

Maybe if Nan and Kelly plan the bash for a place that has high-speed wireless internet, I could bring my laptop and web cam and broadcast the reception for everyone!

Yeah, I'm totalled too. BUT they haven't called yet with the $$$, so I can't do any shopping yet. The car I want from CarMax is still available (a year newer than mine with half the milage). I did get some loan info from my credit union, so I had a place to start with figuring out how much I could take in a 60 month loan and keep my payments where I want them. Just waiting to hear about the $$ so I'll know what I'd have available for a downpayment. The car is in San Diego and they charge about $200 to bring it over for me to look at. I will be contacting my Toyota dealer also, but I didn't see anything on their website.

Cheri, when I get home I'll forward the e-mail from Ian with some consumer report info....I don't think I sent it to you yet.

Time to head home, maybe go for a swim at Pegs. :thumbsup2

I went to the local Honda dealer today and looked at cars. I'm thinking about getting a Civic, possibly a hybrid but they're hard to come by and about $4000 more. I won't get my money until I get my clear title, which was supposedly mailed out to me on the 17th. I could get another Accord, too, which is initially more expensive but I could probably get some discount on the price, plus I could get 1.9% financing. On the Civic, no discount and no 1.9% either. I was just thinking that it could be that the Accord would end up costing close to same as the Civic, when it's all said and done! Crazy...

Also remember cars that you could work on yourself without a $10,000.00 computer to tell what might be wrong with your car. (Had a 1954 Olds with a 325 ci engine and 4 barrel carb that got 25 mpg and gas was $ .30 to .32 a gallon.

"Those were the days my friend!"

Doug

I was reading this thinking, "Did Carol used to work on her own cars???"--then I saw Doug's name!:lmao: :lmao:

Oh Gosh, this will make me so so so so sad. He is moving into his apartment (with two other guys) on Aug 15th. School starts on August 25th. He is going to spend the time looking for a job for the fall. He wants to wait tables.

Just like Tomas!!

Your grandma was alive in the 90's. That's when MY grandparents died.

Yes, my grandma was 92 when she died. You know that saying, "Only the good die young"......

I even miss this :sad1:

Well, good night everyone. Hello Marilyn & Deborah!:yay:

Is this at Disneyland?? What a cute picture!

OK, this is really good night!

Showers today... had to run in from the car through the raindrops... and of course it HAD to be the day I went and got my hair done!!!:rotfl:

My garden however, I believe is rotting away... we've had too much rain this year... it's sad... :sad1:

Anyway... sweet dreams... see you on the other side!!! :flower3:

Sorry I had to go Michelle. We have had a wet year so far and it can be depressing.

I for one am not bored.

I do remember candy stores, which were usually news/cigarette stores as well.

We also got milk delivered by the milkman, but it came in bottles.

My mother would make her list and then go "marketing," which mean going down to the main street that ran through the neighborhood where all of the stores were. She would drag a shopping cart behind her.

I haven't heard the word, "marketing" for grocery shopping in many years.

Was that used in the UK? Was it used anywhere else in the US, outside of NYC?

I can't remember the term 'marketing', but perhaps my mum did use the term, or maybe with the grocery shop delivering she didn't actually go marketing, if that is what they did.

Edwardian sounds pretty good to me, so long as I could have been upper or upper middle class. I at least seem to be gathering up the clothing.

I always say I would have been a lowly servant girl. Did you ever see Upstairs Downstairs? It was a long TV series in the 80's I think, about a well to do London family. I really enjoyed it. I think the story started just as Queen Victoria had died and ended up a little after WW2. The things that happened above and below stairs would rival any soap of today.:lmao: Really good show. I would say to watch the videos, but there would be sooooooo many.

.
 SORRY.
Did not catch that in my proofreading. Yes, Michelle's Mom Barbara.

Not that I would not have liked to have met your Mum too, I bet she was a special lady like you.

Jan.

No need to  but I did :lmao:

Here is the final dress rehersal picture. It is so weird putting and seeing ones son in makeup ;) I'm heading out to drop them at practice for the night, I'll be back...

They are such great kids and so photogenic.

Tyler takes it at bedtime for a week, then after that it will be in the morning at breakfast and at bedtime.

His dad was not happy about the plan, but grudgingly went along with it. Funny thing was the doctor was reviewing all the questionnaires we each had to fill out over the past year from multiple doctors, and the school filled out the same. He pointed out that for every single form, the school and I answered about the same and our results showed the same significant areas of concern, but his dad's answers every time were completely different, showing no concerns. That gives the Dr. a true picture of his dad's denial, and in fact he asked him if he was in denial! :rotfl2: He did it in a very professional way though. He asked what we all think the reason might be for dad being the only one with a different result on each questionnaire. He asked, "Is it that the school and mom are both with him more hours a day? Is it that he just behaves differently at your house and doesn't display any of these symptoms with you? Or is it denial?" Dad bowed his head and quietly said, "Probably all of the above". :thumbsup2

Thank goodness, the Dr. told us he's basing his opinion on the majority.

Dr. had a nice way of expressing to dad just how much Tyler has to struggle to get through every minute of every single day. He related all of Tyler's symptoms to how dad would cope at work every day with all those things going on, and flat out told him Tyler's having a major struggle every day just to get through the day. I think that finally sunk in from dad, especially hearing if from a professional instead of always only hearing it from me.

Within all the difficulties Holly, I hope you had a really sly laugh there.

Nice rental car, Cheri.

Woody

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What!?! Is he doing dishes once every two weeks?

Woody

:lmao: :lmao: You were on top form last night!!!:rotfl2:

Gretchen is a cleaning machine. She LOVES to clean....she is not too fond of picking up....but deep cleaning she loves!! She loves to clean toilets, bathtubs!! She is so funny!!

We have been looking at Oslo tickets....I just wrote Vanessa a long e-mail. We talk often and we miss her very much!! Her family vaction is going to Coatia (sp?)...I do not even know where that is :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Where will you go? When will you go? Vanessa is thinking of spending next summer here working.

Croatia is down fairly close to Greece and should be a great place to have a vacation.

Well I have talked your guys ears off too much tonight!! It is 11:30pm....time for bed.

One more thing, Frank got the ALL CLEAR from the doctor last week. He still is staying with us..:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Fine with me....we love having him around.

Thanks for listening to me!!

Great news about Frank. he must feel very relaxed staying with you.

My dad talks of how, in the winter, he used to go around to the doors where the milk was delivered and have creamsicles.

:scared: I always hated milk so that makes me feel queasy.

one word....

WEBKINS

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I hate them. So silly to over pay for a stuff animal just because of a marketing ploy....My kids spent alot of the day online, Wilson finally registered his turtle, Snappy.

What are Webkins?

I LOVED Upstairs Downstairs!

It first aired in about 1972 on public television. I was a junior (3rd year) in high school. It aired on Sunday nights.

All of my friends used to gather together to watch it. There were about a dozen of us, and we'd sit there, stone silent, watching Upstairs Downstairs, and heaven help anyone who dared to break the silence.

There was great debate about the episode afterwards, and speculation about what was going to happen.

Now that I think of it, it is sort of odd that a group of 16 and 17 year old boys and girls were transfixed by Upstairs Downstairs. It's even odder when you consider that it was about a dozen Jewish adolescents in Brooklyn who were transfixed by it.

We did have a good time but nothing compared to the cruise :sad1: Did you miss me?

::yes::

How old his he again? Ethan has always been really mellow and laid back but lately Brooke can really set him off. He doesn't hit her but he looks like he is going to and he chases her and calls her names. This has only been for a few months now and he is eight. Brooke does do bad things sometimes but it never seemed to bother him before.

Keith is 11 years old and we found out when he was 8 years old.

boy can be lazy than girl!! Difficult to tell if Ethan have problem or not.

Last night I typed out and the page got stuck, I gave up and went to bed.

Shannon

I just want to send you the :shamrock: pixiedust: for second interview.

Today is warm day.

The house is quiet now as the kids are away with thier grandparents for 3 days.

I am meeting friends today for coffee then go to picture to see mamma mia.

Scottishwee35

Jan...up here they do that... it's great...

That's the one thing I don't miss about being in the NYC area... how many people were crime victims each day... up here.. .they report if the geese get into the lake at the park...
.
.
Is that on the Capital district TV stations? That is different from what I remember from the 1970's and 1980's. I am glad they have changed!

It does seem strange, but I guess seeing what it used to be like over here must have been very interesting. Plus there were great storylines. Anyway kids were different in those days.

I really think it was an excellent programme that many enjoyed.
