I suggest you create a charging zone and then always charge in that spot...do not remove the cord, leave it there always and just plug the phone in when you need to charge, then no lost cords viola

Good idea. I usually do that. My charging place is in the kitchen on the counter near the sink, and the cord usually does stay there permanently. BUT, I know one time I was charging it in the living room because we were talking to my dad on the phone at the time when I needed to plug in, so I plugged in near the couch so I didn't have to stand in the kitchen. But the cord isn't there. Then I know I took it to work with me to recharge there because I'd forgotten the night before. But I'm sure I charged it at home since the time I took it to work, but just in case, I'm heading up there anyway after I get dressed just to check.

Well, HI Kelly! Thanks for the youtube link for Carousel of Progress, I watched the whole video, very cool!

Sorry for the repeat everybody else, but about Tyler's school, throughout this whole process and lots of meetings at school, we learned there's a school in his school district that can accommodate him better. His current school just isn't staffed or trained for kids like him and they just stopped trying to put him in the regular classroom because it was just setting him up for bad days. So he'd bounce from the resource (special ed) teacher to the school social worker's office, to the OT room, to the principal's office, depending on whose schedule would allow time with him. They each gave up time with other kids that they're supposed to meet regularly with, so those kids parents were getting upset too (understandably), but they were trying to do the best they could to keep him from situations that are known trouble spots for him. He wasn't eating lunch with the other kids, but had lunch in the social worker's office and got to invite a buddy every day to join him for lunch and their own private recess after the rest of the school went in from the playground (he eventually bumped up to 2 lunch buddies every day).

The new school is only a mile down the road from his current school and he'll be in what they call a basic classroom. His current school is only set up for learning disabilities in the resource room, but the new one is for EI and sensory too. There's the resource teacher and TWO parapros, and the maximum number of kids at one time is 7 in that room. Although he's been away from academics for a couple months, they will first work on behavior management because that's what's getting in the way of his learning, the behaviors that result from his sensory issues. They will focus on strategies he can learn to use when he's feeling overloaded instead of running out of the school or hurting whoever's closest or totally disrupting the class. At the same time, he will still be assigned to a regular 1st grade class, and they will put him in their as much as he can handle, which may not be much at first. In the beginning they will set up a schedule where he can choose 2 activities or academic areas that he enjoys and will send him to class for those (with a parapro) so he'll have a better chance of being successful. As things improve with him, they'll push him into the regular class more and more, depending on how much he can handle, but if he just can't succeed there, this school is set up for him to stay all day in the special ed room and do his work there if that's what works for him. The former school was only set up for 2 1/2 hours in special ed maximum per day.

Last Wednesday the staff from the new school came to his former school for a new IEP and to meet Tyler and talk with him a bit. Then the next day, his former special ed teacher and school social worker took him to the new school to see his new classroom and new special ed classroom. I'll find out from him today when he comes home how the tour went and what he thinks about it.

The staff at the new school attend training regularly on sensory issues, and went through a session where they have to maneuver through a room blindfolded with somebody brushing them with feathers or tapping them or making loud noises behind or next to them to startle them. The purpose was to show them how most of these kids feel in an environment that is normal to us. For some kids with sensory issues, the hum of the overhead lights irritates them, when most of us can't hear it. His new special ed teacher is certified in learning disabilities, and emotional impairment, AND all autism spectrum disorders, so she's dealt with just about every type of disorder and has experience and training. I almost cried with relief when I heard that.

He'll start January 5 when he goes back from Christmas break.

Wow, I can't believe I slept until after 11am on a night when I didn't have beer! I usually have an after work beer with former co-workers, but of course the storm prevented that. So I shouldn't have needed to sleep so late!

Well, I'm off for a bit. Going to shovel the end of my driveway. Surprisingly, the snow plows came down our road. We usually don't ever get plowed, so that says a lot for how much snow came! I measured earlier and it's 18 inches! The snowplows had so much snow to throw, they completely covered the sidewalk I'd shoveled last night. Oh well, at least I can drive safely now and won't get stuck in my street, so that's more important.

After I dig myself out, I'm headed to the office to see if my phone charger is there. And to call Tyler's dad. I'm sure he's been trying to call to ask if he can bring Tyler home later because his family Christmas gathering is today at his sister's house. It's always the Saturday before Christmas and he usually gets Tyler home about 6. That's fine with me, he knows I always say yes, but he'll worry until I TELL him it's ok as usual.

I heard on the news that is snowed in Malibu (again) it must be beautiful to see your mountains topped off in white.

Isn't the cold strange???? I do remember the last time we had this cold weather in 2005 we also spent our Xmas and NY at WDW and on the Magic. Maybe it's so we can totally enjoy the warmth of FL Of course that year too FL had a funny cold snap the first week and we didn't pack for it and frooze our hinnies off but the cruise the next week was great.

The 3 of us (not Paul) have stuffy noses and Wil tells me he also is feeling it in his ears I have doctor appts for the kids on Monday, I'm afraid of them flying with fluid in their ears, that really hurts.

Wilson got homework for over the break, hopefully he will plough/plow thru it today so we don't have to worry about it.

OH yeah, I forgot we got to see the new kart last night...pictures in a minute. it was naked, no stickers and just the first sitting for Wil to see how and where to screw it together and add/delete weight. It was really fun to see it.

Okay lastly, a funny Willie story. He made Paul and I a calendar to hang on the wall and on it he colored over 4 dates, 2/24, his birthday, 10/31 Halloween, 12/15 Xmas and 3/1....what is 3/1, nt my bday hmmmmmm...then he tells me the start of his karting season That kid is so focused on one thing his GO-KART So funny.

I thought I had shoveled enough, my shovel got down to where it couldn't scoop any more, so I assumed the hard stuff was the concrete under the snow. I found out the hard way I was wrong. Turns out the snow was just packed really hard and I got my car stuck at the end of my driveway! So I had to walk through the neighbor's yard to get to where I could shovel around my tires on one side. Walking through that snow was awful because it came almost up to my knees, so my whole lower pant legs were wet by the time I was done. I managed to get unstuck, but my shovel BROKE in the process! Not good because although today is supposed to be snow-free, we're supposed to get another 8 inches or more tomorrow until Monday morning.

OH, and after all that, I drove up to the office and my phone cord is not there either. The Energizer Bunny lawyer was there and he asked if I'd come to do some work. I told him I would, but I have to go home and hide Tyler's presents, then do a better shoveling job, and I have to clean and finish putting up my Christmas lights in case my mom still comes tomorrow. Can't call her to ask until I find my phone cord to plug in!

I'm happy its the weekend! Its a beautiful sunny day here, with nice blue sky. Unfortunately its freezing still, but we're not struggling with snow like Holly. We've only got about a foot of snow, just enough to make everything white an dpretty.

I've got to go drop Shaelyn off at a birthday party today, and then do the running around while she plays.

Shannon, it's sunny here too! Nice to see that big bright ball in the sky. The weather man had to go and ruin it for us though. He said, "Enjoy the sun while it's here, and take advantage of this break to get your snow cleared away to make room for more." And then he chuckled and reminded us that 8 more inches are coming. Jerk!

So, I just got home from doing the grocery run for the week and was too afraid to park in my driveway and risk getting stuck again, so I parked in the street until I can shovel more around where I got stuck. I could NOT find a shovel at the 3 stores where I checked! I'm going to have to make do with Tyler's small one since mine broke this morning.

yes it's a very open kart, but he is fully protected with his helmet, neck brace, chest protector and suit, gloves and shoes. The idea is if he is hit or flips it is better to be tossed clear of the kart than roll with it.

It's funny that I'm not as scared now as I was when he started. Wil is a very safe driver. I worry about the other kids being reckless and hitting him, not him being dangerous.

And I always come back to the fact that you can fall from a horse and break your neck, so why not let him race

How do we spell it here? I thought we spell it plough? That's how I spell it. Not that it's a word I write out very often.
