:grouphug: to all of us

I keep reminding myself that Dad would not want me unhappy. He would want me remembering the fun we had and to get busy making that fun for my kids and grandkids the way he made it for us. :thumbsup2

He was like that. ::yes:: Yes, he was

So, I get teary and then get busy. :grouphug:

That is really cold. I can only imagine what that must be like with the wind-chill!

I'm sure you must be keeping faucets dripping to prevent pipes from freezing.

Yup basement taps are dripping. They were already frozen earlier in the week. Some of the pipes run along the outside wall, and it isn't insulated very well, so when we ht this cold they freeze.:headache: We really should rip down the drywall and put insulation on the pipes.

i JUST FINISHED MAKING ABOUT 300 PEPPER NODDERS! They are Danish Cinnamon Butter cookies and I made them with my BRAND NEW COOKIE PRESS!

I have an ancient one....Mirro is the brand, it's made of all stainless steel, and you have to crank the knob on the top to press out the dough.

WELL THE NEW ONE IS BY WILTON, It's plastic, it works on the same basic principal, with dough that you press out through decorative plates to make different shaped cookies. BUT THE NEW ONE HAS A SQUEEZE HANDLE! you just squeeze out the dough! So fast! So easy!

And I broke down and bought a beautiful new Calfalon cookie sheet. And I threw away 2 of my old ones, everything stuck to them anyway.

Whoo hoo! party::dancer::dancer::dancer:
I bought my own Christmas for myself early!

You sound like you're having fun! I need to do some more baking this weekend. I love to watch Christmas movies while making christmas cookies. ::yes::

HI KATHE!

I'm avoiding cleaning up the kitchen and wrapping presents......

I had the exact same thought! Hi Kathe! and I'm avoiding cleaning and wrapping too :lmao:

Grrr. Some girls are really mean. My mom called me and said my sister needed some good news. She was at her supposed BFF Christmas party tonight when her "friend" took her to the side and told her not to talk to anyone b/c she wasn't popular enough and noone liked her. THen she told her everyone else was spending the night but her and another girl b/c no one liked them and they weren't popular and she only invited her b/c her mom made her. I never liked this girl but now I really don't like her. My sister was crushed and left very sad. THese were some of her friends too (they didn't hear this). This "friend" also told another girl she wasn't dressed right and needed to change! My sister is going with her real BFF to an indoor waterpark and hotel this weekend and it just opened. I passed it today and told her how AMAZING it looked. Seriously it looked like something Disney would do. She is super excited. As for the other "Friend" she has decided they are no longer friends and my mom won't allow her over again.

Sorry that was long but why are kids so mean?!?!?!

Girls can be horrible. Its a painful lesson to learn, and doesn't it just make you want to give the rotten ones a smack in the back of the head.

Hi Jan, congratulations on your new little granddaugter :lovestruc I just went on the Tortola thread for a minute and saw her pic, she's a sweetie! When do you get to meet her?

After the Christmas rush I should have time to get caught up again. I miss everyone!

Just a comment on "places that get a lot of snow know how to handle it" -- well our city certainly knows how to handle it, but doing it is another story  With the all the cutbacks constantly going on, we do not always get the plows out, salt, sand etc when we need them. But I do have my snowtires :thumbsup2

Kathe

Thanks for reminding me Kathe. I was going to post her on the three threads I follow and got that one done, finished updating the Cruiser List and Cruiser Photo posts when Tom was ready to leave work and go out to dinner at our favorite pub. Great Reuben sandwiches--yummm

Sometimes it is jealousy.

Sometimes it's because they only feel good about themselves when they are pushing someone else down, like the drowning man who tires to climb the rescuer and ends up drowning him also.

It is sad--great that your Sis has you for a friend AND a sister who can help her see that it is what is inside that counts!

 to you for all you do for her!

......
What???? There really isn't another Bob McAllister??? (Wonderama to those NY'ers...)
......

:confused3 who? :confused3

Our Bozo was not named Bob McAllister. Carolyn's last name was Whittaker and he was the Bozo in Utica. :clown:

Hey Shannon... if Nan's not busy... but just make sure it's not Monday... she doesn't smack on mondays... :rolleyes1

And Jan...

Sophia is beautiful!!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

Hi everyone :grouphug:
I can't even remember when I was last on this thread :guilty: It's been super busy here. At work, renovations are almost done and we have now flipped banners, meaning I am officially broke from now on! Good thing I've been working a ton of hours lately I guess, it will help pay for Christmas!

We had a snowstorm today, I had to be at work at 6:00 AM and it was good weather then, but it started to snow shortly after, and snowed...and snowed...and snowed! It was very blustery for quite a while, but by the time I was driving home it had stopped. The roads were awful though, no plows out on most of them yet. I barely made it into my driveway, the snow was so high! I shoveled for almost two hours, and I know after the plows go by tonight I'll be digging out again in the morning. I am going to be so sore! If I could get the rest of my family to move, I'd be heading south, to WDW of course;) I read today that it snowed in Las Vegas :scared1: What's with that?

I'm very excited as my son is arriving home on Sunday for two weeks :cool1: We are hearing there may be another storm that day though, I sure hope not! Our airport shut right down today and Toronto cancelled tons of flights.

Is everyone ready for Christmas? I have gifts but I need to do a lot of wrapping and baking.

Hope everyone is doing well. Merry Christmas to all

Kathe

Big hugs Kathe!

::yes:: I totally agree. You are a great big sis to tell her that sometimes girls are rotten, but those who are your friends will shine thru and give her a hug and tell her you love her and give her chocolate :thumbsup2

I can't believe I still haven't found my cord to recharge my phone! :headache:
Tyler probably put it in a logical place when we last cleaned and I just haven't figured out where. I'll ask him when he gets home and I'll be he knows where it is. It's sad that my 6-year old usually finds things I often lose. :(

I suggest you create a charging zone and then always charge in that spot...do not remove the cord, leave it there always and just plug the phone in when you need to charge, then no lost cords viola :woohoo:

Hi Kathe. Nice to see you. Take care in that snow, and enjoy your son being home, and Serenity's visit.:)

Oh, and by the way, Connie, who's going to eat your 300 cookies?! ;)

Good question!!!

Congratulations Marine.

Great pictures. I believe it is tough training.

Good night Jackie! I'm off to bed very shortly. So Cheri is back from her cruise already!!! Say hi to her for me please! It will be no time at all until we meet up on our Sept cruise, if time keeps flying by like this! And of course, I have my May WDW trip to look forward to first :cool1: I booked my airfare for May and for Sept too for both my daughter and I last week. Air Canada has a great sale on, I get to fly from my home city for the same price (taking into consideration exchange rates on our dollar and the shuttle I usually use when flying from Detroit) and have great times :thumbsup2 I'm flying one way to WDW in May from Detroit, though, since I had a credit for a free flight!

Kathe

Hopefully if all the folks going in May are at the same time we can have a meet!!!:yay:

We're back at the hotel. Tristan graduated Marine boot camp today. He did great and he looks awesome and he's really all grown up now. I'm so happy for him that he has found something that he loves. He loves being a Marine. When we did our cheers at dinner tonight we said thank you to him. It was a ten hankie day from start to finish.

Back home in the mountains we got about 4 inches so far. Tom had no school today. I told him I needed the house really clean for Christmas. Guess I'll find out when I get there. Hope I CAN get there. Getting up our unplowed driveway will not work. We'll have to rely on the kid and Tom to get it clean enough to get up and down. They're on their own doing this for the first time. John's truck is there and the plow is there. So they should be able to do something. Guess we'll find out.

We're meeting for breakfast at 9am tomorrow and we'll all be taking off around 10am. That puts me and John home some time around midnight unless we stay overnight somewhere on the way. We'll see how John feels.

Safe journey Deb and John!

Morning Michelle

Good morning

Oh lovely photos of Sophia Tosia and thank for showing it Jan...

I am going out at lunch times so won't be back until tonight..

Have a nice day

We had our works Christmas dinner last night. It was excellent. We invited partners, so there were 13 in total as one lad was alone, though someone did try to fined a young lady for him!!!!!!!:lmao: It was a proper Christmas dinner which was lovely, held where I had my 60th birthday meal. They source local suppliers which is nice.

I think everyone enjoyed it, though 2 I know would have liked more of a party type place.:headache: :headache: :headache:

Nan: I did not intend to leave everyone out. Thanks for understanding. I did not know if they wanted her on the internet so wanted permission before posting. They are both on facebook so I did not want to steal their thunder there either. :thanks: for no smack.

We got no snow, only rain, some froze but most roads were fine when Tom went south for a business meeting. It was 50 at mid-day. 36 when we walked to dinner. And we live downtown so nothing has stuck so far this year anyway. Been cold though :cold:

Thanks for telling Jill about the chocolate--I forgot to include that. How could that happen?
thud.gif

I have a charging zone and so does Tom. Works Great :woohoo: When we go on trips we create a charging zone in the hotel too.

Kathe: We are going to see her for the Christmas to New Years week. It is an 11 hour drive and that is when Tom can be out of the office. :drive:

Marilyn: when the boss pays for the party, we have the kind of party the boss wants. If they want to "party down" they can go out later. Tom wants an Open House with appetizer-type food in January so that is what we do.

:) Jan

Good Morning All!

I think we just might be holed up indoors today. There's a possibility that we might venture out to Lowes or Home Despot later. Sukie seems to be in a funny mood. It might be best if I just hide in the basement.

So unless we go out, I guess I'm looking at a day of leisure.

Hi All....you guys were my favorite table and it was fun passing you each night in and out of the restaurant.:cutie:

We had fun being the 'door monitors'. I wasn't excited about our table location when I first saw it, but it turned out great for seeing all our friends!

Gotta hit the shower soon to go meet Cheri. Think I'll stop at Ulta afterwoods and refresh my Bare Minerals supply too...that stuff lasts forever.

Everybody stay warm....here it will be mostly sunny and 62. :thumbsup2

.

Goodmorning all,
Well, I'm sort of caught up with everything. I was so worried reading and wondering how Holly was going to get home from work in the snow storm and I totally couldn't find what happened to have Tyler move schools, but got caught up on the transition. What happened?

Jan: congrats. Beautiful baby!!!

Sounds like my little friend Molly has been a star lately too!!!!

OH NO! And there's a Cold Stone less than a mile from my house! I think I eat more ice cream in DECEMBER than any other time of the year...just because Peppermint is so readily available.

: :grouphug: :grouphug: for all my pals who need one or more of these.

Found this photo...it will serve to illustrate just how much sister Di and I look alike. (The lady in the photo is my Aunt Laura, who is still alive and kicking at 85....wish we had HER genes)

Is this this Peg? The likeness is shocking.

What the heck is a carousel of progress?

Here is my favorite, the entire production of COP: We miss it so very much.

Love, love, love it.

Yup, I was completely migraine free during pregnancy too. My doctors told me that's what usually happens with us migraine folks because of the hormones. I didn't have one until about 3 or 4 months after having him, which strangely, is about when I gained all my weight too.

curious.

On ABC now is the special about my kids High School, Westfield. It is interesting....turn it on.....or watch it later on the West Coast. It is on 20/20 for 2 hours.

I recorded this, but haven't seen it.

It's raining and flooding. I don't own an umbrella but they want me to work cross walk for someone tomorrow. I'm not wondering why the normal parking lot attendant called in sick  This is depressing and I couldn't even imagine living in a place with so much rain. I couldn't sleep last night because it was pounding on the roof.

I've got the rest of my cards done and now I need to send them. You guys may get them on Christmas Eve

On a better note, my interview is Wednesday and I'm not nervous at all, like I should be. I have too much to do because I have book fair at school and Grandparent's Day. I'm not done shopping either.

I've been thinking about you, you must have amazing snow from your window.

Hey everybody. I am leaving tomorrow night for San Diego and board the ship on Friday. So I will be away for a while. I am not sure if I am going to purchase any minutes on the ship. I need to check in on my flight in 9 minutes. LOL.

I have had a pretty bad scare this week. I have a lump in my right breast and had a biopsy last Thursday. The doctor called today and said that it appears to be benign, but still have some additional tests to run. He did say that the chance is slim that it is cancer at this point but if it is, it will be a kind that they can treat very successfully. So I am thankful for this news.

All this talk of what all of you guys do to make Christmas brighter for others is really making me ashamed. I am going to make a change and spend alot more of my time and money helping others in the new year. That will be my new year resolution. (I always say I am going to lose weight but it hasn't worked yet, so I need a new one. LOL)

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Wow Ian, all that trouble to get to work for almost no reason!

Instead of closing the office and letting us get home before things get much worse on the roads, the senior partner decided he'll spring for pizza delivery so nobody has to risk going out for lunch. :headache: Nice, but I'd rather be safe at home!

:headache: :headache:

I wish that it was that easy. With her she doesn't remember anything, unfortunately that is a result of many years of drinking too much :sad2: I've pretty much given up. I just hope that this year we don't hear from her like we did last year. (drunk from the hospital) part of the reason I really wanted to leave this year was the crappy last 2 years with her. The year after my dad died we shared the holiday with MIL and FIL and she kept making comments that were like knives in my heart. Lots of comments about how much fun it was for her to see the kids snow skiing just like her boys did when they were little, and all I could think about was how my dad would never see my kids water skiing, just like we did when we were little. Just typing this makes me cry for missing my dad again. Holidays are so hard when they are spent missing loved ones.

Well, we've been super busy here:
work, school, sickness, more work, holiday - done for months, ebay (sold all my magazine collections), the school benefit that I was totally tricked into working on.

It's been really cold here. Our high this week was 47 degrees one day, 52 the next. Plus 3 days of nonstop rain, flooding etc. Our homes are not designed to handle it. My heat broke on the first day - had to wait 3 days for repair - $400 later!!! UGH We're all still sick, freezing to death no doubt.

As of yesterday we had snow within 20 miles of the beach, we are surrounded by the most amazing mountains, but everytime I go out I don't have the camera with me to snap a picture. It's like we're living in Switzerland by the beach with palm trees.

I just started working on my Dis- Xmas cards and realized I missed Marilyn's visit to WDW. Marilyn, please PM your address. I hope you had fun. sounds like you got to play with lots of friends. Did you see the candlelight processional?

We missed our processional at DL, but we are off to the boat parade tonight (one of the biggest in the nation) 40 degrees outside expected - :scared1:
