If no one asked, can you post pictures of the decorations at Beach Club?

Have fun at Fort Wilderness. We have been there for Christmas and loved it.

:santa: Jan

Sure, I can take some pics of the beautiful Beach Club

We have had a horrible day today! Last night Patrick fell while I was walking him to the bathroom on the way to be. His left foot slipped, hit the wall really hard, and he went down with his leg bend under him. He was in so much pain!! We had to use the Hoyer Lift to get him off the floor. He couldn't put ANY weight on it, and that is the foot he uses to stand up on, his right foot and leg isn't strong enough.

I wrapped it up and we put him to bed. This morning, it looked really bad, and we took him to the ER. Not broken, but extremely sore! He can't stand on it at all, and so that means he can't stand up to go to the potty. Been using the urinal all day!

Good thing I wasn't scheduled to work tomorrow. Neither Chuck nor I can handle him alone. I might even have to quit my lovely job! I called the foot doctor and he'll be going to see him on Monday. I might have to stay home on Thursday too. I was afraid something like this would happen eventually.

I just hope it gets less painful soon, so he can at least stand up!

Ian - Does Hannukah move every year? I know its 8 days, but is it a moving holiday like the Christians move Good Friday/Easter? Do you get sick of being wished Merry Christmas when you don't celebrate it? There isn't many Jews in my area, but there's many Jehoviah's Witness people. Some of them get very offended when you wish them a Happy Holiday and others just shrug it off.

Technically speaking, Chanukah does not move, and has a fixed calendar date every year, on the Jewish calendar, which is a lunar calendar, however the Jewish calendar "floats" when aligned with the solar calendar, making it seem like the Jewish holidays "move around."

So all of the Jewish holidays have fixed dates, based on the Jewish calendar.

People wishing me a merry Christmas doesn't offend me. They mean well and the intentions are good, so what's to be offended about?

There are people who think it's odd that I don't celebrate Christmas. Some of my pups refuse to believe that I never celebrate it.

People also find it odd to learn that Chanukah is a minor festival, only slightly more important than Arbor Day.

The only thing it has is it's seasonal proximity with Christmas, and so it gets undeserved attention and importance. It is equal in importance with Purim, a holiday that is much more fun, which is sort of like Mardi Gras, and you are supposed to get drunk.

The other thing that Chanukah gets is the gift giving aspect, but nearly every Jewish holiday is a gift giving holiday with the exception of a very few very somber holidays.

A funny thing happened at work, I'm responsible for the intranet, and in my original design for the company's Christmas party on-line invitation, I had a Christmas tree.

The head of HR, told me that it wasn't "inclusive." There are only 2 Jews where I work, me and the head of HR.

I said to her, "It doesn't offend me, does it offend you?" She said, "No."

We laughed about it. She said that the Christmas party was a "holiday party." I told her that the "holiday party," was another name for a Christmas party in drag.

I've got a pink wig you could borrow...

Are you still up cooking??? You're usually asleep by this hour... You're lucky Gaylean and Nan are busy tonight... you might never get to sleep...

Stick around though... Marilyn should be here soon... :cutie:

I'm sorry about Patrick's fall and bad foot Connie. It is hard enough for you anyway. At least it isn't broken. I hope it gets better soon and Patrick has the confidence to stand again. Only give up your job as a last resort Connie.

:lmao:

Our schools have to be very PC and inclusive these days, to the detriment of the Christian faith really. They seem scared to mention it!! John's last teaching job was in a majority muslim primary school, and they hardly held anything Christian there. He managed to bring some into the week. He got loads of cards from his Muslim children, and the parents didn't mind them 'celebrating' Christmas at all. They acknowledged Jesus as a prophet. Many had decorations etc up.

Some places have even banned Santa Claus because it is too Christmassy, and he isn't even a Christian character!!(ok I know of St Nick, but you know what I mean). I think we will go more and more over to calling it a 'Holiday' like the US.

We just always swing too far.

Good Morning

Michelle's mother wants to go to Leningrad?

You know that I went to Baltic Cruise with school in 1975 and I told my friend that Leningrad change to St Petersburgh and my friend never knew that!!

Well, we are settled in Stateroom 6060!! We have had the safety drill. It is quite cool on the veranda. Upstairs by the goofy pool is nice as the wind is blocked up there.

For my tablemates, I have already seen Paula and she came running over and hugged me and said "Where's Daniel??" We have not seen Tomas yet...not too sure if he is here or not.

Off to Castaway Cay tomorrow.

Have a great week and if I can check in, I will!!

Connie and Patrick....thinking about you....sending hugs and love.

It's Football Day in America! Giants are on at 4 pm today.

I've been spending time on myspace talking to Tom and Kris and Casey....grandkids and nephew. It's a great way to communicate with the youth of today. They have almost a different language on there, but they're comfortable and they are themselves. I love keeping in touch with them that way. Last night I was talking to all three of them at the same time....it was like I had ADD.....I didn't know which messages were coming in or going out or replied to or not.....everything is on a different page with a different kid....confusing, but fun.

I tried getting a facebook account but for some unknown reason I wasn't getting their verification email. I wrote to them twice and never got a response. I don't know what the problem is and I don't know how to fix it. Ian, any clues as to what I should check????

So we're doing another champagne girls tasting on the Tortola cruise. But I'm not doing it on the B2B Western the week afterwards. I think once a trip is enough. So all the ladies on that thread saw it in my signature and tag and wanted to know what it was all about. I explained and said a co-cruiser provided the alcohol and information since she owned a wine store. I said we all had a good time and posted our picture. They all accepted that it was a one time deal.

This morning, the ladies on my Christmas cruise asked about the champagne girls. I can't be sure of what I'll be doing 2 years from now so I responded the same way that I did for the Western....but I may want to do it again by then.....but I'm not telling them that yet.

Of course, Stacy/pfishgirl is on the Tortola and the Christmas cruise. I hope she doesn't let the cat out of the bag. Oppss!

It's kind of not the Champagne Girls without some of the original gang really is it?

Exactly what I was thinking Marilyn. For Tortola we'll have many of the same faces including Mandy the original one. I can't wait to do it.

I already know that I'm not very compatible with the folks on the Western because I HATE our name. We came up with a bunch of good ones and they all picked the one I hate the most. So I have to go with it. Then they picked our DISmeet to be after the late dinner on the first night....that's like 10 pm....what about the little kids?? I just think they're all lame ducks. They are certainly NOT my family here. They're not even friends, they're aquaintances only....we will not form lasting relationships. Sad, but so.

The jury is still out on the folks on the Christmas cruise. There's not much activity.....I know it's two years out, but look at the Baltic group.....they're going fast and furious and there's a bunch of good people there. (I was reading the thread for a while in the beginning.)

Tortola is also a great group....mostly because a lot of our family is going, but others who are going are good too. I guess you just get a good group or not or somewhere inbetween. It's random.

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Ahhhhh ... let them go get their own bottle of SWILL!!!! I bet they've never heard of Rosa Regale and their idea of pink champagne is a $3 bottle of COLD DUCK!!!

Nope... family... gotta love us... (:upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow )

I think it was Maureen/pit303 and she is on the Tortola cruise. She may also be on the Baltic. I think she said that she's going to be busy though with family....not sure. Wear DIS green!

I got a pm from her - they decided to stay at WDW instead of VB - no worries. A very good friend of mine is thinking of coming down to visit after the family stuff on Thursday & spending the night. He's the perfect man for me except that he's not straight :sad2: (and NO I'm not kidding).

I like that. There's something sort of film noir about it ....

"The minute she walked into my office, I could see she was a turkey ... A turkey with a past."

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

OK, a less silly answer:

"Heritage turkeys are old-fashioned breeds of turkeys raised in a very specific way. Conservation organizations which focus on livestock have promoted the breeding and sale of heritage turkeys to preserve these old breeds for the enjoyment of future generations. Many people have never tasted heritage turkey, since these breeds were displaced by the Broad Breasted White Turkey in the 20th century. Consumers who have experienced heritage turkey say that these breeds tend to have a better flavor and a texture which is far superior to the Broad Breasted White."

Maybe you should plan on Thanksgiving in Chicago next year?

I will be in Michigan for the actual holiday - how far away is Chicago from the Detroit area? You never know, I could always pop by for a visit --- just save me a plate.

 Can you ask DCL if they can let you take ADO's for a little bit? Then you shouldn't have to quit. Hope you're all doing better
