I posted a recipe :confused3 It is green beans with stuff in it. We eat veggies everyday but their was a time when we didn't. We couldn't afford it all and it was more important to drink and eat snacks popcorn::

:thumbsup2 :rotfl:   :rotfl2:

.....
Fried egg and french fries, which we call chips. Traditional home made chips like I grew up with are much much better than the frozen thin things. Can have baked beans and/or ketchup. Egg yolk should be soft to dip the chip in!! Yum. also nice to have some fresh bread and butter so you can make a chip butty!!! Can't remember the last time I had a chip butty. As it is best to have a thickish layer of butter on the bread, the whole thing is not really very good for you!!:lmao:

Now I am more confused. :confused3

Chips I understand. I am an upstate NY kid and we went to Canada often. I had fish and chips as a teen when we went on canoe trips through Ontario to Ottawa.

Also, we have a pub near us that makes decent fish and chips unless the oil is not hot enough and then it is oily and soggy and heavy in the stomach. It is called CHATHAM TAP and looks like it was picked up in Wales and put down in Indianapolis.

Is eggs and chips a breakfast? Baked beans for breakfast?

What is a butty? Chips in bread? Eggs in bread? Eggs and chips in bread?

Ketchup on eggs--is that a British thing? My father-in-law does it and I thought it was a midwestern thing but he was stationed in England for part of WW2.

:confused3

I wasn't scared of clowns, just couldn't see any reason for them, and didn't find them funny!!:confused3

Well, there is always that.

:lmao: I think I am in that category.

So much clown humor is based on people falling or bumping into things or being hit and that makes me think how badly they could really be hurt. :scared1: That was my reaction as a kid--makes me think that medically oriented people are born that way, not educated that way.

I don't like Funniest Home Videos either--people get hurt. Not funny.:sad2:

:hug:Thanks, everybody for the kind words about Patrick. Today was tough, it takes both of us to transfer him from wheelchair to couch to chair to recliner. He can't help AT ALL. Then he goes all stiff and that makes it even worse.
We have to physically force his right knee to bend and then Chuck has to brace his riight foot which lifting him, and I have to guide the backend into the chair! We must look like a circus!:)

He was in such pain all day. Been giving him Tylenol with Codeine, now I am concerned because he wouldn't eat all day. Had a few misses with the urinal too! FUN FUN FUN FUN.... tomorrow he sees the foot specialist. I am just hoping it's only a sprain and it will heal quickly....although it took over 2 months for my stupid jammed toe that I had from kicking Chuck in early October! (didn't kick him on purpose, my foot slipped, I was barefoot and he had on shoes)

Sure, I can take some pics of the beautiful Beach Club

We have had a horrible day today! Last night Patrick fell while I was walking him to the bathroom on the way to be. His left foot slipped, hit the wall really hard, and he went down with his leg bend under him. He was in so much pain!! We had to use the Hoyer Lift to get him off the floor. He couldn't put ANY weight on it, and that is the foot he uses to stand up on, his right foot and leg isn't strong enough.

I wrapped it up and we put him to bed. This morning, it looked really bad, and we took him to the ER. Not broken, but extremely sore! He can't stand on it at all, and so that means he can't stand up to go to the potty. Been using the urinal all day!

Good thing I wasn't scheduled to work tomorrow. Neither Chuck nor I can handle him alone. I might even have to quit my lovely job! I called the foot doctor and he'll be going to see him on Monday. I might have to stay home on Thursday too. I was afraid something like this would happen eventually.

I just hope it gets less painful soon, so he can at least stand up!

So sorry

Poor Patrick. Poor Mommy. Poor Daddy.

Can you gete Visiting Nurses or some agency to help with Patrick's care? :confused3

:cheer2: OK, I am officially caught up. :upsidedow

But, with baby clothes to knit and a job that is picking up more clients, who knows how long this will last :confused3 .....

I am WAY behind on every other thread though, only been working on this one. :sad2:

It's ok Kathe, John really wants to do it and the ports will be great, but the only DISer that I think I'll really like is you. Of course, with Sara there you'll be happy. I was just trying to say how different the groups of disers are on each cruise. I'm spoiled I guess.:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I've only posted a few times on the Western thread. I don't know if it is because we still might cancel that one or not. I just feel the fun and friends thing will be the Tortola cruise, and the Western will be relaxing and doing nothing so no need to join in. Perhaps nearer the time. I don't like the name at all.:lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Michelle, you didn't say how you were feeling

Kathe

What she said!!!

How are you?

Egg and chips can be anytime but breakfast. However if you have a full English breakfast it can include baked beans, and sometimes fried potatoes, but not chips. Our cooked breakfasts are normally with a fried egg rather than scrambled. Scrambled egg is a separate breakfast served on toast(buttered of course).

Yes, an egg butty is chips on bread. Fresh bread or a teacake which is a large soft bap or roll is the best. Ketchup is good with chips and does sometime get with the egg!!! Many people like brown sauce with their breakfasts.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_Sauce, but I don't like it - too strong.

In my youth I have had a fried egg sandwich, sausage sandwich, and of course a bacon butty - the very best. We were not as healthy then and times have changed and we know more now.(We still do have bacon butties very occasionally though.

Aaaargh, not a good day for you all Connie. I hope the foot specialist can help. Any chance you can get some extra nursing/care help in for a while?

Morning Marilyn & Deborah... :flower3: :flower3:

Pebble has gone into hiding... hoping for a long rest... :rolleyes1 only time will tell...

I am all turned around again with not sleeping cause the pain meds throw me off...

And I do apologize if I have sounded cranky in the last week or so...

I think Ken may have called me on it...

I'm not a very nice person when I'm in that much pain...

I'm off to bed...

See you later...

Oh... before I forget...

I was listening to one of the internet radio stations that plays Disney music and I found it a bit funny and a also very alarming that not long after the Monorail clip that they had an ad for the CIA... and I ain't talkin the Culinary Institute...

I guess maybe they are trying to get some of the bilingual people who can say the "Por Favor Man Sengan...." speech... offer them a job... :scared: :scared: :scared:

So sorry you are not sleeping because of the meds that are because of the stone or the other problem!!!

I hadn't noticed you were cranky, just that you weren't around as much. I hope everything settles down for you. Anyway, you have a right to be cranky when in so much pain.

I will be in Michigan for the actual holiday - how far away is Chicago from the Detroit area? You never know, I could always pop by for a visit --- just save me a plate.

I think you'd be about 4 hours away from Chicago, or about 20 minutes by plane.

I have had a very busy, but good week!! I was really starting to stress because I had not started Christmas shopping except for the Minnie outfit I bought Serenity at wdw :cutie: It's amazing what can be accomplished in a few short days! I went out with my mom on my day off and bought a few gifts. Then I was able to do some more shopping on a morning before work. I also got to have Serenity and her mom over for dinner and a nice visit after work one night. My SIL came over this morning to get my snowtires out of the basement and into the trunk of my car, I'll have someone put them on while I'm at work tomorrow. We have had a very wintery, snowy week  It's going to be a long winter. I am going out to dinner with about 30 other women from work on Thursday, should be lots of fun . I booked myself into work for the afternoon shift on Friday, so I can sleep in after our night out ;) Hope everyone is keeping well.

Kathe

Hey Kathe! Good to see you.

How has the weather been up there to the north?

Sorry you're not feeling well, petal. Just snuggle up and stay warm. I hope it passes soon.

Good Morning All (and Nan)!

Another week ahead. Today is the only day this week I will be in the office. I'll be working at home on Tuesday and Wednesday, so working and cooking. My company is closing early on Wednesday, so it is only a half day.

I was really tired yesterday after my WW meetings and did not feel like being on line.

For some reason, the meetings were really hard on me and my back hurt from standing from 6:30 AM until 1:00 PM. By the time I got home, I only had energy for a bit of cooking and some complete down time. I couldn't even face a keyboard.

Good morning/afternoon all! Another week, another work day to be nervous whenever the phone rings waiting for that dreaded call to pick Tyler up. I reminded him today that when I'm not at work I don't get paid. I told him if I have to pick him up today, he will not go to karate class today. If I continue to have to pick him up, he will not graduate for the 2nd time to his camoflage belt. And the karate school told him if this behavior at school doesn't turn around soon, he won't be allowed to continue because they expect the behavior and respect they teach to carry over outside of karate class too. And his teacher has to sign a paper saying he's doing well in school in order to graduate next month in karate.

Tyler told me "but I don't know how to behave in school". I told him he is to act the same at school as he does at home. Wish us luck please.

Ian, although it will be a busy holiday for you, I hope the short work week will allow you to mentally rest.

Connie, best wishes for you and Chuck and Patrick. I hope the doctor can help today (Patrick's appointment is today, right?).

Michelle, I hope you're back on track soon!
