I asked mom where she wants to cruise next time..

she said anywhere that boat is going is fine with her... :thumbsup2

Onto my 2nd drink....so please don't make fun of any spelling mistakes, K??

Hi Marilyn!!! Do YOU remember who was supposed to be here at VB also this week? Can't remember if it was from the Tortola or Baltic thread. :confused3

Won't make fun, promiss!;)

No, I can't remember who it is Monica, sorry.

Dad is stable and may be coming home this week.. They had moved him to a rehab facility and threatened to throw him out if he didn't get with it with PT and such.

His defibrilator kept going off this week - so they put him back into the hospital overnight to check it. They think that maybe the extra activity with the PT may have thrown it off.

So that's where we're at right now.

I got him a nice card and will be sending him a computer game that may get him sitting up more often and get his brain going again... I was thinking Jewel Quest 2... can't get much more basic than that... I just don't see him doing Sudoku... :sad2:

That is good news. Amazing.

I went and saw "Quantum of Solace" last night.....it was ok.....liked last movie better.

I also bought a new CD - an old flashback to the 80's - Rick Springfield's "Working Class Dog" :lmao:

Heard mixed reviews about the film, though it is doing very well here.

Just ordered some Artichoke & Spinach dip - that'll keep me from getting too .loopey

You're chatty though!!:lmao:

Off for a bath and then bed. Going to be verrrrry cold tonight and possibly some snow. But, that will go tomorrow, It will be freezing and icy though. Roll on next week.

Enjoy the bath, Maz & stay warm :goodvibes

I'll be signing off shortly myself. No wi-fi in the rooms.

Shelle - not sure if I'll be able to walk on the beach tonight or tomorrow, but when I get back - it's a plan :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh that explains the food and drink...

I thought of Lisa & the Magic as I turned onto I95 from the Beeline (too far from Port Canaveral to wave HI).

Ian - sorry if I missed the discussion on this earlier, but WHAT IS A HERITAGE TURKEY??? A turkey with history? Glad you're week is over and that you're ahead of time w/ the project.

Nan - have a great anniversary weekend.

Deborah - have fun w/ the new TV :happytv:

Deb - first of all - did you know that Crush is the mascot of the Vero Beach Resort?? They do the turtle nesting watch during the season too.
Secondly - I think Tom is SO lucky to have you & JOhn in his corner. That's an amazing thing that you're doing for him and I KNOW he appreciates it.

Thanks Monica....I didn't know that Crush was the Vero Beach mascot. I must get there during turtle nesting watch. When is the right season for that?

I hope all goes well with Tom, I think it will.

Holly - a sibling - wow! I know Tyler will be a great help w/ him/her. Continued hugs, prayers & pixie dust being sent out to you

Jan & Angie - good to see you :flower3:

Michelle - how are you doing? Any updates on Dad?

I think it was Maureen/pit303 and she is on the Tortola cruise. She may also be on the Baltic. I think she said that she's going to be busy though with family....not sure. Wear DIS green!

Ian, I'm glad you're feeling better today and that you've got a nice start on your holiday preparations. :goodvibes At first, I mistakenly read "14 lbs" as "41 lbs" and was shocked! :scared1: :rotfl2: Had to go back and read it again!

How did Sukie's article on Prop 8 turn out? Are his articles available online? I suspect I'd get a laugh or two about Joe the Plumber's scents. :rotfl:

His column is available online, but not suitable for polite company.

I like that. There's something sort of film noir about it ....

"The minute she walked into my office, I could see she was a turkey ... A turkey with a past."

OK, a less silly answer:

"Heritage turkeys are old-fashioned breeds of turkeys raised in a very specific way. Conservation organizations which focus on livestock have promoted the breeding and sale of heritage turkeys to preserve these old breeds for the enjoyment of future generations. Many people have never tasted heritage turkey, since these breeds were displaced by the Broad Breasted White Turkey in the 20th century. Consumers who have experienced heritage turkey say that these breeds tend to have a better flavor and a texture which is far superior to the Broad Breasted White."

Maybe you should plan on Thanksgiving in Chicago next year?

OK, for a change, I must be the only one around. So here I am toasting pecans and talking to myself. (Not necessarily in that order)

I thought you were already taking reservations... ;)

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire... oops... sorry...

We're already getting in the holiday spirit at Eastwood Manor. The dogs know something is up.

I think it was the arrival of the turkey that tipped them off.

By the way. I did not learn how to cook from my mother.

My mother's idea of preparing a turkey was tenting it with tin foil and putting it in slow oven for about 500 years.

We always referred to it as mom's turkey jerky. It was nearly inedible.

It wasn't until I was a young adult that I found out that candied sweet potatoes didn't come out of a can, and that cranberry sauce did not naturally have the rings of the tin can on it.

Puppy treats... :rotfl:

.....Nope, I don't think the tag fairy likes our thread :sad2: I'm destined to be tagless, as I hardly ever post anywhere else. I just like to come here and chat with my dis-friends ;) .......

Give yourself a tag. :thumbsup2

Ken did. Michelle did. I did. Many of us have.

The Tag Fairy catches something she thinks is funny and puts it under your avatar in color. Ours are black. Works for me.

I don't know how she feels about it now, but at first Gaylean did not like her tag, she thought she had said a lot of funnier things. So, if you do it yourself, you get what you want.

Jan ;)

We make fibreboard. (MDF) We take residue from the sawmills, grind it into individual fibres, add some glue and press it into panels. Then we sell it to other people who turn it into useful products (picture frames, furniture, wall paneling, laminate flooring, poster backs, moulding). And thank you, yes, the rest of the day has been going better.
.......

Very interesting. I always wondered about that.

:) Jan

......Ian - Does Hannukah move every year? I know its 8 days, but is it a moving holiday like the Christians move Good Friday/Easter? Do you get sick of being wished Merry Christmas when you don't celebrate it? There isn't many Jews in my area, but there's many Jehoviah's Witness people. Some of them get very offended when you wish them a Happy Holiday and others just shrug it off.

Seems like you cannot please everyone. Some people take offense easily and some do not. I personally prefer "Merry Christmas" and when people say "Happy Holidays" it bugs me, but I do not make a big deal about it and I do not say "Merry Christmas" to people who do not celebrate it.

Seems no matter what you do to try to be politically correct you cannot make it work. :confused3

Hi everybody....got off work at 6pm, home at 6:30, and my jammies by 6:35! I just can't get used to it being dark already at 6pm! so weird!

Last night, elves came and decorated all of Walt Disney World! My resort (the Beach Club) is so beautiful! And the traditional gingerbread and chocolate carosel seems to be more beautiful than usual! I am going to the Festival of the Trees at the Orlando Art museum this Friday....it's for support of the museum......and there are RAFFLES!

Sorry you are having so much trouble with your leg again, Deb! :( :grouphug:

Did I tell everyone that we are staying at Fort Wilderness from Dec. 21 to dec 25! I am so excited! we had some DVC points that had to be used up, and we've been thinking about the camping cabins....I am going to take a little Christmas tree and lights to decorate.:santa:...also we are renting a golf cart, and I will bring some garland and battery powered lights for it. :car: :santa: Won't it be fun to drive around at night and look at all the campers decorated! :drive:

We actually have our heat on today, I sure hope it warms up again soon!

If no one asked, can you post pictures of the decorations at Beach Club?

Have fun at Fort Wilderness. We have been there for Christmas and loved it.

:santa: Jan
