I'm just really confused because he's only like that at school and day care situations. Completely different kid at home and with family. Well, he does start to get like that with my dad's family because it's large and noisy and chaotic.

More people are saying that could be anxiety. I've also read that too, and kids like that usually do well with anti-depressants. That's on his doctor's list of meds to try, but he wants to try other meds first. So it's more of a waiting game. Meanwhile, Tyler's not learning anything at all, doing none of the first grade work, so I'm sure he'll have to repeat 1st grade.

I don't know, I'm too stressed out to think about it, I'm going back to sleep and hope his dad doesn't try to call me again. I just can't deal with it again today. Turning my phone completely off until tomorrow.

Not because of the aides but because the teachers, parents and kids are more tolerant of the situation. The special ed kids are "aloud" to do anything pretty much without getting in trouble. I see them fighting EVERYDAY and the aides that are watching them just tell me they'll take care of it and then they let them go play again. If any of the other children get into fights they go to the principle and get suspended. They can't do that with the special ed kids because they would be gone everyday. I'm sorry for your stress. I can't even imagine.

Monday we don't get home until almost bedtime, so that's out. Tuesday we have time. Wednesday he goes straight from school to karate to his dad's, so that day is out. Thurs & Fri he's at his dad's, so that's out. His dad won't even do the homework from Tyler's teacher. She says to spend just 10 minutes a day on it and he refuses. Anyway, we have a little time Saturday when he comes home after supper and before bed, and of course we have time on Sunday. So I guess we have Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday to do schoolwork. We make it work as much as we can. I have some Christmas themed worksheets now that he really likes from www.northpole.com. I put together a workbook for him with the Christmas ones and that makes it fun for him.

Marilyn, I watched You Are What You Eat on BBC channel. It was funny. It had two gay men on it and I was busting up the whole time. The lady was mean though I hope she doesn't come to our house.

It looks like fun. I'll have to show Brooke. I know it is a lot easier with girls. Brooke does all her homework for the week on Monday. It makes it really nice because I can study her addition and subtraction facts with her on the other days and read with her. If she doesn't have homework and Ethan does she hates it. Ethan on the other hand has always fought homework and he won't do anything extra like studying something he needs help on

I can see your concern but the kids in these classes are like Tyler. Some don't have any discipline issues, they just have a harder time learning. Some of them have an over active fight or flight response and they can't stand anyone around them or touching them. I have one child that I have to take to his aide almost everyday. He seems like Tyler so much. He starts crying after he punches a kid or wrestles them down to the ground. His face seems like someone else did it and not him. I don't think that Tyler would learn anything from these kids because I don't think it is a learned behavior.

Well I work at the school plus I have a friend that has a child that has been in special day class since he was 5 and he is 14 now. He is a really good kid but he does math at like a 3rd grade level. He is a really good reader but it was because of the special programs they have through special ed. I also have another friend who's son is what I would call a bully. He is 9 but the teachers have wanted to hold him back every year since he was 5. The problem is that he is VERY tall and the mother thinks he will get teased because of his height. She is working now to get an IEP. Which is a program that is good for these types of kids so the parents and other people working for them have a say so in what they have to learn that year. I actually think that special ed kids have more programs and better opportunities. Like they teach them to balance a check book and they go to stores to buy things so they can learn the basics of life rather than that stupid algebra that no one ever uses
