Note to self... buy 2 lottery tickets tomorrow... (one for me... one for Jackie....)

Good plan! :thumbsup2

Jackie... if you won the lottery your could technically quit and just go back and show up and help out from time to time for something to do in between your cruises...:rolleyes1

Yeah, that would keep me from getting bored between trips!

Monica, love the pictures

Ian, wish I was eating what you are cooking

Love the puppy pictures. We've got some pet pictures over on the Tortola thread right now too. I think some Chicagoland puppies need to be represented over there.

lunch break over...back to work.

Well, I have heard of rutabaga but had no idea it was swede!!! I love swede. We have had some tonight and I was thinking it is never like I remember it as a child, and I was wondering why. i don't think I cook it any different than my mother did, or even to how I used to when first married. I decided they just aren't as good as they used to be.:confused3

That sounds a great way to cook the veg. Do you just part cook them and pop them back in the oven on the day?

That's me, the universal vegetable translator.

I fully cook them and reheat them.

It's a very easy recipe and very tasty.

I wish I did, but I have to take all kinds of cold weather gear now!!!:scared1: If the forecast changes then I will throw them out and there will be room!!!:lmao:

Yes, we fly on Saturday. Staying at a cheap place for one night then at SSR for 11 nights. Then we pop up to Universal for a night at the Royal Pacific Resort and front of line access:banana: before comiong back and spending our last 4 nights at the Beach Club!!!

As we go to the airport hotel the night before I am saying our vacation begins in 3 days!!! Well under now I guess.:cool1:

John and I always make it a point to eat at Emeril's Tchoup Chop restaurant in the Royal Pacific Resort. It's a polynesian gourmet restaurant. Emeril is very popular on our Food Network tv channel. John watches that channel all the time. We both love Emeril. The atmosphere is fun and refreshing and the food is scrumptous. John and I would both highly recommend it.

Ian, wish I was eating what you are cooking

Don't say you weren't invited :rolleyes1

I have finished chopping the fresh herbs. I hate chopping herbs.

I had to do rosemary, sage, tarragon and have to run out to the store because I forgot to buy thyme.

I could have substituted dried herbs, but they just aren't as good.

I think that after my next conference call, I'll start on the bourbon candied sweet potatoes.

Now my mouth is watering....bourbon candied sweet potatoes......sounds heavenly.:cloud9:

Speaking of wine and bourbon, something funny happened earlier.

As many of you know, Sukie does not drink.

The bourbon and wine in the recipes don't matter because the alcohol is cooked off, but I when I buy them I do hide the bottles, so he is not around them.

Earlier today, I had forgotten where I hid them in the house. He was out at the doctor. I had to tear the house apart trying to figure out where I hid them this year.

Ian

We were watching the film called 'This is England' and wonder if Sukie see it before. It film by 2006.

But it showed that old times of skinhead, old fashion and very rough place as that times that Margaret Thacter. She was Prime Minister.

We were laughing how they dressed up around 1980, also remind me that my mum wallpaper and horrible carpet.:scared1:

Scottishwee35:happytv:

Wow. Horrible. Family can sometimes be so, well, horrible.

& yet we still have to have Xmas dinner with them...

Wow thanks, this was great.

I sent an open letter to my synagogue this weekend to inform them about the boycott in Chicago of Cinemark theaters because the CEO was a large donor to proposition 8.

Sukie wrote Cinemark a letter and received one back telling him that those were the actions of the CEO and not the company. Sukie wrote back and asked them if movie ticket sales paid for the CEO's salary, bonus which in turn allowed him to give so much money to proposition 8.

Sukie has not heard back.

Here is how my open letter to my synagogue began:

"“When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist. When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I was not a Jew. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.”– Pastor Martin Niemöller, the German anti-Nazi theologian.

I will stick with my local Scotia Cinema 1 plex... cheap movies... and popcorn sold by a guy who in his other life is an Elvis impersonator...(you can tell from the hair and glasses...)

Good Morning One and All (and Nan)!

I am sat in my kitchen having breakfast. I am not at my office.

Today is a day of writing performance reviews and cooking.

What a combination!

Don't burn the reviews... OK??

Oh believe me they are getting a framed picture of Brooke for Christmas ;) If they don't put it out then they are in big trouble. I didn't know we were aloud to have Valium. I need to get me some of that :rotfl: It was nice when Jon and I started drinking wine though because it did make these events a little more tolerable ;)

WHAT? No picture of Brooke at her grandparents house??? I've NEVER heard of such a thing. You must give them a huge picture of her and put it out for them. The nerve!

G.... I think you should get one of those poster sized pictures of both kids and give it to them for Xmas... framed of course and see where it gets hanged... make it a nice one from the cruise... :flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

I finally finished filling out all the registration and guardianship paperwork for Tom to get into school here. He's only been gone a year and he was already in this school. They should have all his information on file already. Then yesterday I had to pick up the guardianship form and I called in the morning and spoke with the woman directly that I needed to see. I told her that I would be down within an hour. It was exactly 35 minutes later that I was in her office and they told me that she just left for lunch 5 minutes ago. So I waited 1 1/2 hours for her and she still didn't show up. Now it was pushing 1:30 pm and she said she was leaving for the day at 2:30 pm. It must be nice if you can get away with it.

Somebody that had previously worked there finally got the papers for me and I left without seeing or talking to the lady I had the apointment with. Go figure. No wonder the schools are not doing so well. If I had treated anyone like that in the corporate world, we would not have had any clients. And this school is supposed to be one of the better ones in the neighborhood. It's way better than the school that they are now going to in FL.

Glad you got it all done... All this will pay off... you will see...

Hi. All the M's are gone right now ;)

M had her head between the pillows for a bit today... sleeping off the meds she took last night... but thanks' for asking...

As for Marilyn... :confused3

Hey do you see how many posts you do in a day? I want to reach 10,000 on NYE :upsidedow

:lmao: :lmao: I'm going to bet you hit 11,000 by then...

Well, count the days till NYE and work out how many posts you will have to do per day. Then you can amend as you go on!!!
Do you need algebra?;)

and gag her... tie her hands down... or else she's gonna be on the phone to Bubba bribing him to post for her!!!

Hey that's only like 20 a day if i only count Dec. I think I can do it. The problem will be that I may go over

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 & we'd miss you greatly...

Sorry, no time to read any posts right now, later tonight. BUT, just wondered if anybody would be interested in exchanging addresses for Christmas cards. Ian, we know you & Sukie don't celebrate it, but if you don't mind receiving a pretty card, it's always nice to have some extra cheer anytime of year.

I can keep this list if anyone is interested... just PM me...

I would love to send some. I already have a couple of addresses and the cards written to send when I am over, but I won't ask for any in return because of the cost of mailing over here.

You can do a greeting on here for me!!!:)

Marilyn's really afraid that if I do get my hands on her address that I'm going to come and crash on her couch... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have not done much actual cooking today. I've spent most of the time working and on conference calls.

The only thing I have gotten to are the roasted root vegetables in apple juice and wine. It's in the oven now.

I reduced 3 quarts of apple juice and a bottle of German Reisling down to 1.5 cups of liquid for the veggies. It was more like a syrup.

The veggies, carrots, sweet potato, parsnips and rutabaga (that's swede to Marilyn and Deborah) are in the oven roasting in the liquid right now.

I may not get to these performance reviews today. I may have to space them out over the days after Thanksgiving.

Must smell wonderful at Eastwood Manor... :goodvibes :goodvibes

I wish I did, but I have to take all kinds of cold weather gear now!!!:scared1: If the forecast changes then I will throw them out and there will be room!!!:lmao:

Wine and bourbon....now that's what I call Thanksgiving! Too bad you're cooking out all the alcohol :lmao: Maybe there will be a sip left ;)

It will be a picture from the cruise but They don't have any wall space for poster size pictures. There house is custom built and is very strange. I'll try to find a picture.
