Deb, you have actually talked with them about this, have you not? Did you not discuss what champagnes, etc? Not that you can argue with them about collecting the $$ onboard, but about no request for venue is nuts. Do you have the name of the person you were working with?

The good thing about this is that it should cut down on those that sign up and then not show or those that don't sign up and then do show. You should be able to get everyone to send the $$ in 4 weeks. It's not like you have to have an early deadline due to ordering product like Val did. Just if you don't have payment by the time you leave then they can't be part of the group. I'll send a check for myself and Nang. I had a big problem with paypal last time I used it. I mistyped Monica's email, it took the money out of my account and held it for 10 business days (even though paypal knew it was not a correct address and that the $$ was not going to be collected) and then when it was returned it was 3 business days before it was put back in my checking that our paypal draws from. Boy, one wrong keystroke....and it was for the luau for 4 people so it was a bit of money that I had to cover twice inorder to get it sent to Monica on time. Turned into over 2 weeks. Luckily we had the cash to cover it, but geesh!!

Angie, while he was asking me about the money....I was asking him about the venue. I told him I submitted my request at the beginning of this month and I told him that I sent it to David G. at special function requests. That's all I could remember because the emails are filed in my laptop at Staples. He did say he would look into it. I can't do anything until I get my laptop back and can access my emails and files. I usually meet with someone onboard to discuss the champagnes that we'll be tasting. I also asked him if finding a venue for 95 ladies was going to be a problem. He didn't know. I'm sure that number will drop off now that everyone has to prepay.

I'm so sorry what happened to you using paypal for the luau with Monica. You can just mail me a check. I'll put up the notices next week with all the information. I need to do it from my laptop so I will be able to keep a copy and file it.

Let me know when you are going to post so that I can add my :idea: statement about rounding the checks up. If you post your original thoughts Deb and I add my comment right by it, then people will not forget..... :hug:

This sounds like a good plan. I will let you know before I post anything. Thanks for doing this. I couldn't justify changing the price for the ladies. If they want to donate more then that will help. I really believe that some people will drop off when they have to prepay, some I won't be able to reach. We shall see what happens. At least I will know how much money I collect before I have to place the champagne order. So I'll just add my amount to it and that's my budget for the order. Knowing in advance is a helpful thing.

I asked the gentleman on the phone if this was a new thing, the rule about the no money onboard. He said not at all, but it's the first time that they are looking into it. Corinna thinks that someone dropped a dime on her and made a complaint. Can't know for certain, but thats what she thinks. Then it snowballed and blew the whistle on everyone.

.....and they are probably reading this right now.

 

Come on ladies... it's a well known fact that Disney reads the Disboards... I imagine they picked it up on the thread...

Michelle, I think it is great they read the Dis. If they are using it a research tool or even for grins and giggles.

I find it unsettling that they took the time, were able to track these 3 women down and call them at home. It really makes me rethink the amount of info I have put out there on the Dis. :scared1:

We must be sisters, because "witch" (insert b) is my middle name. Proof positive that there is a list. We have cruised on DH's several times as well and no upgrade. :sad2:

I think the idea about them being "turned in" to DCL by someone else is probably more to the tune. I think one of the other CG's probably got messy and they are looking into all of them.

And obviously about the venue... the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.. :rolleyes1

I can but I prefer not to. I don't want to be dealing with the money and the lists while I have started my vacation. I expect to be going out to dinner and drinking champagne not worrying about who paid or not for our tasting event.

Yes, but Corinna....doing the jewelry workshops....thinks that somebody threw her under the bus and now it's affecting all of us. I don't know and it really doesn't matter. At least I can do the CG's my way minus the money collection. On the Fantasy maiden voyage they told them how they will structure it. On the phone he told me that I have done these before. I said yes, this will be my fourth one. So he didn't tell me how I had to do it.

Every CG gathering I have had problems getting the venue. I'm used to it by now.

 
YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!! Staples called and my laptop is ready. John will pick it up on his way home from work tonight.

The netbook is good for vacation, but not for everyday use at home. I need my laptop back!
 
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! It's back and working beautifully. I'm so happy. Now I can do the CG payment collection. I'm not doing it tonight it's Friday. I'll do it on Monday. After all it's a weekend.

13 cruises and no upgrade for us inside cabin cruisers. ;) We did upgrade ourselves at the port on the 10 day southern. It's ok, we just need a place to sleep and shower.

Not at all, Monica. My own fault. :headache: I miss typed your email 07 instead of 01 and did not recheck my typing before hitting send. It just took them so long to get the money back even though they said yes they were aware that there was no such recepient to get the money and therefore the money would not be distributed. :confused3 And the most frustrating for me was that I called them right away and the young man I spoke with told me not to resend to the correct address that night, but wait until the next morning so that I would not have twice the amount tied up. He definately clearly told me that it would be canceled right away. :mad: Then when I called two days later saying whoa nellie! that's a chunk of money you all have I was told it would be 10 business days and nothing could change that.

Staples also charged me $100 over the final amount because they double charged me for some work. Anyway, back to Staples it goes so they can finish what they were supposed to do.

When I get the laptop back again, I'll post the notice. I need to access my files in order to post it and I'll be back on the netbook again later today. So we're in a holding pattern again.

Staples also charged me $100 over the final amount because they double charged me for some work. Anyway, back to Staples it goes so they can finish what they were supposed to do.

Well after many hours in Staples and some follow up at Olive Garden.....Jan, I thought of Tom because I had Chicken Parm.....after many hours I finally have my laptop back at home for good. They fixed what needed to be fixed and even credited me the $100 over charge, BUT now I can't access any of my Word Perfect files. I can open the program and create and save a new file, but that's all. All my old saved files are gone. Next time I think I'll try going to Best Buy.
