So spending Wed, Thurs and Fri with Karen and Bob and the "show" that went on at the funeral home.....just about made me wish I didn't call her and that she didn't come down. OMG! At the first viewing she walked to the door of the room we were in and didn't even look at Ray yet and fell down to her knees and put her head on the floor sobbing like a child. OMG are you kidding me. You didn't see him when he was alive, so why this big drama now? Our funeral director said to me, it's always the ones that have the most regret and the most guilt that cry the hardest. I thought it was all a me, me, me act myself.

When we were cleaning out Ray's room at Mrs. Bush...Karen said she bought him everything in the room and took it to keep...including many things that I bought him. DUH! I let her have them and I didn't correct her. After she hoarded out all his belongings she did not help to empty the last of the contents that she wasn't taking. The kid went over and did it all by himself. One pile to the Salvation Army and one pile to the garbage. John and I were exhausted from one week of running to the hospital for Ray and staying overnight when necessary. Karen and Bob were only there one night when it was time to clean out Ray's room and she and Bob were also too tired. Her adult kids did nothing but stay in the hotel room all day and when I suggested that they pitch in and help the kid, they ignored me. So the kid did it alone.

Karen claimed that she went down to Mrs. Bush's to visit Ray all the time and take him out to dinner. But when John was following her into Mrs. Bush's she stopped and waited for him because she didn't know where Ray's room was.

I promised Ray chocolate ice cream before Karen got there. After they took him off the ventilator I got him some chocolate ice cream. Karen and her son Bobby shared feeding it to him. He smiled and did two thumbs up because he was so happy. Well the whole time after he passed, Karen kept bragging about how she will always remember getting dad his chocolate ice cream and giving it to him. WHAT? That's not what happened. I didn't correct her, I just let her have her way. I basically yes'd her to death and ignored her.

I couldn't wait until after the funeral yesterday when they went home. What a pair!!

At the mausoleum they had the crypt open so I peeked behind the curtain and said Merry Christmas to mom. Do you know that they put you in head to toe not above and below. I did not know that.....now I do. Mom's beautiful pink stainless steel coffin still looked the same as day one, even though it's been four years. Ray has the same one, but in blue. His funeral cost the exact same as mom's....$8k. I told John, no viewing for me, just put my ashes into an urn.....they cost $1k.....and spill me out over Montauk Point on the East End of Long Island. John said he wants the same, but spill him into the ocean from on a boat ride. I said I'll do it at Montauk Point so we can be together. How romantic.

It suddenly occurred to me that after eight years of taking care of mom and ray that I have no one to take care of now.....not the parents and not the boys. So I have declared that for 2012 I will be taking care of me!

I really wasn't into Christmas this year... :sad2::sad2::sad2: Too much going on to really do it. I even had a panic attack over going to Mass last night so I stayed up and watched the Vatican midnight mass...

I've decided that if I play it good and rub my pennies together... I'm going to try and go to Italy for Xmas next year...

I know what I did for Ray and that's all that matters.....my conscience is clear. I can sleep peacefully without any nightmares.

I'm not complaining as much as I'm just telling the story. I already put it out of sight and mind when I yes'd her to death and let her have her way. It was not worth fighting. I didn't want that. AND I'm proud of myself for handling it the way that I did.

THAT'S RIGHT, SISTAH! You and John focus on each other and the plans for your retirement years. (Besides...I may have to move in with you if our stock dropping.....)

Had a very quiet Christmas this year and am glad of it as I've been feeling kind of 'draggy' these last few days. I'm ready to have my 70+ degrees back, thank you. Had enough of these chilly mornings and evenings. Peggy would totally disagree with me though...she runs out into the cold and yells "I'm ALIVE". :lmao:

WOW!!!!!

We've been visited!!!! :banana::banana::banana:

Hi Kathe!!! :yay::yay: Think about you often... especially when I'm watching the weather cause right after Holly sends it... you do!!!

:yay::yay: Michelle, it was a green Christmas but looks like it will be a white New Years...did you hear that Holly ;)

Great to see you over here.....Donna and Kathe. Merry Christmas to you both and to your families. Hope Santa was good to you!

Thanks Deb! Yes, santa was good to all of us here :santa:

So glad you dropped !!!
Here's to a better year in 2011 !!

Hi Jan , thanks and wishing all the best to you and your family in 2012 as well!

And actually...I did shop and wrap and bake and cook and serve until I dropped this year :lmao: I was exhausted on Boxing Day...did a little bit of clean up, a little laundry, went for a short walk then curled up on the couch and watched movies the rest of the day!
