And then have his dad sit there until Tyler finishes his writing. Let him see him in a full rage...

He's out of town for work. He doesn't just leave work. It is what it is. After nap and lunch, he got right back to writing with no more issues. Sure, some complaining, but no further issues and he kept right on. Asked for a couple breaks, and I agreed, because he gets frequent breaks at school. About 5 minutes each and right back to it. He's on number 86 now. Then he has to do the letter to his dad. Then regular homework from the weekend. He definitely doesn't like me right now, but has apologized for earlier.

I'm glad he's apologized for his earlier behavior. I KNOW that he knows (in his heart) that you're not doing any of this to just be mean.

The details here are a little sketchy but we believe these will be 7 night Western Caribbean sailings again from Galveston, Texas. Sailings to the Western Caribbean will be between January 4, 2013 and May 17, 2013 and again from October 25, 2013 to January 3, 2014. Actual itinerary and sailing dates are unknown right now.

Jan, that's a great idea! I will call. Thanks for the tip. I hope they do something like that. He told me at bedtime he doesn't want to ever do a day like this again. I asked him what he thinks he can do to try to prevent this and he said "Stop and think first before doing anything." Of course he's been saying that for years, but it's bound to eventually sink in.

find out if there is a juvenile officer assigned to your area... that would be the best source to do this with since they are trained to deal with kids.. Explain the situation before. Also... maybe the police can suggest a program that THEY have like a kids corps that Tyler can participate in.

Today's punishment was no popcorn selling (which about killed him because he's dying to try to be top seller and he was going to sell every day after school this week), no TV or Wii or Nintendo DSi, no going to get pumpkins to carve (we were going to do that today), and more writing. This time he kicked a kid in the back because I only told him to keep his "hands" to himself. So this time the writing was "I will not hurt other people". Not enough hours after school to write it 100 times, so he's just doing it until I tell him it's bedtime.

AND I took him straight from school to the police station. Our local has been shut down due to budget cuts, so the sign on the door directed me to another one. Went there, talked to the officer on duty and they don't give tours or have anything to say to kids. Budget cuts. No juvenile system either or any type of preventative program. Budget cuts. So as we left, I said "Then you'll be seeing this one when he's 18". Tyler was silent for at least an hour after that, so maybe it got him thinking, I don't know.

His teacher (the one he's had since 1st grade, will have all through elementary school) called me tonight instead of the principal after having a meeting about what to do. She told the principal "You can't give him out of school suspension because you're punishing the wrong parent". She explained to her that in school suspension is better for Tyler because that way he's still there doing his schoolwork and they can handle him appropriately (she knows me well). He just has to stay with his teacher all day, never leaving the room. No recess, no lunchtime (they bring his lunch to him to eat in the classroom with the teacher, no "specials" (art, music, library, gym, Spanish), etc. I agree with all this.

My coworker Jan sounds like she's getting sick again. She denies it and says she's fine, but she also said her doctor diagnosed her Friday with COPD. So now she has that in addition to the sarcoid of her lungs she already had. How much can her poor lungs handle? Her mom had the same 2 illnesses and only lived to be about 65, and she fully expects to have as short a life, which is horrifying to think of because she's only 60. Breaks my heart because she's absolutely the sweetest person in the world. I almost cried when she told me about the COPD, but she would hate that, so I fought it successfully.

The kitchen staff make the meal and then take all the foods--meat, potatoes, vegetable, salad with dressing, fruit and dessert, dump it in a blender with the coffee or tea the person usually gets to make it wet enough to whizz up. Then they blend in a bit of flour to adjust the consistency and bake it.

I keep thinking of Paul's letter to the Romans and chapter 7 verse 15. Tyler has trouble doing what he knows he should do. So do I, but I don't hit, I do other things I know are not right. I think it is human nature and we all struggle with different aspects of it.

Sorry about Jan. We know a lot more about respiratory diseases than when her Mom was 65. If she follows medical instructions she should be able to outlive her Mom. Give her a hug for me.

Oh Holly, how awful! Tell Jan how sorry I am and that I am thinking of her. She and Dave are the type of people you instantly love when you meet them. Such a lovely couple.

Hang in there with Tyler. Things will work out. You have an incredible amount of strength!
