Having a leaky roof is why we are renting and not buying when we get to Florida. I don't want to even think about home repairs much less pay for them. I want to play and have fun with Mickey and friends during the Winter season of my life. It's time for me and John to enjoy! We need to keep everything easy and simple and inexpensive.

Thanks Deb, I didn't know any of that. I'm totally clueless about it. I went up in the attic to see if I can figure out where its leaking, but I don't see anything that jumps out at me. And my neighbor who just finished repairing his own roof and would therefore probably know what to look for is on vacation until the day we leave on our trip, so I can't ask him, which means I need to pay somebody to come out I guess. No possibility of making phone calls at work today, so I will call places tomorrow if any are open on weekends. I'll have to have my bathroom ceiling fixed too because that's what was dripping.

Our Tom made quesadillas tonight for dinner. They were so very good. We are definitely getting spoiled.

Tomorrow we are going to Binghamton NY to do Lil J's first birthday party. We're staying overnight at a hotel with a pool. Then we're doing a BBQ at Jeff and Amy's house. I'm excited. It should be a lot of fun.

Tonight we had a blackout... lost power and cable for a bit. BORING!!!!! I forget we used to live like that...

Getting ready for the trip to TX... should be fun. HOT... watching the weather - Don landed in S. TX today... but there are 2 more tropical waves out there and I don't have the greatest track record with hurricanes in TX...

I found out that there are 60 people going to the rehearsal dinner!!!!!!! I don't know why they just don't get married on Friday and save all the money on the reception...

Last night was definitely the best storm in a couple years. It lasted HOURS, and the thunder was so strong it shook the house over and over, with only seconds between booms it seemed. Tyler and I are both such heavy sleepers, we usually sleep through big storms, but this one was loud enough and bright enough to wake us both up, so we sat watching for about an hour in the middle of the night. He was amazed at how the lightening was really like a strobe light, pretty continuous. You could see the whole neighborhood, bright as day, each lightning burst. Just awesome!

Wishful thinking here, but the rain really was pounding sideways most of the night, so maybe it was coming in through the ventilation openings at the end of the roof and that's where the water came from, and it just somehow all trickled in a path to the bathroom ceiling. The bathroom is close to one of those openings.

Off to bed. Busy day tomorrow. Childrens' Museum in Grand Rapids, MI and then beach day at Lake Michigan in Grand Haven, MI.

I've been watching this documentary that is on OWN (Oprah's network)... it's about prisoners who become hospice workers and take care of those who are in prison and will die there. I'm just blown away... Very touching...

OMG I knew that Don was going to hit Corpus Christie today and I didn't call my bro to find out if he's ok. What a bad sister I am. I have to call him tomorrow. Especially since it's the 4th anniversary of my mom's passing. Hopefully Don is keeping my brother so busy he doesn't have time to think about it. I'll be with family and laughing at a one year old so I'm good for the day.

I always get apprehensive about July now since it's mom's birth month and death month. It's been four years already, but it still hurts. I miss her so much.

V.....my heart goes out to you. This is a hard time for you already with your mom's anniversary of her death and now you have lost yet another loved one at this same time. Hugs to you and Bubba. I'm thinking of you both.

Now Shell, they are young and have a lot to learn, let them do so at their own pace. As long as they are happy together, nothing else should matter.

I have always thought that was the best way to rehabilitate an innmate. I wanted them to hold babies that were born addicted to crack. I thought that could cure anyone of harming others. But hospice is good too. It takes a certain kind of person that can do that for a living. It would be a good experience for prisioners.

My mom died on the fourth day in a hospice house. It's a unique perspective on life. They reallly do take care of the patient and their family. They are so supportive and educational. They are with you for every step along the way.....for every stage of death. It's such a unique process to witness.
