We've been having horrible weather in this part of the continent, haven't we? Earlier this week, Sukie and I were watching TV and the tornado sirens went off. Tornado sirens in the city! We had to go down into the basement to wait it out.

Same thing happened earlier in the week while I was at work. We're on the 16th floor of a 35 story tall building downtown. The windows started bulging in and out. Everyone moved away from the windows. The winds were 90 mph! It was bad. Some windows blew out in the Sears Tower.

Yikes :scared1: Yes, it's going to be one of those summers I think! We have had the odd earthquake too

They used to call the area I'm in tornado alley, but really, for the last many years it hasn't seemed too bad :confused3

In case I don't get enough excitement here this summer, I'm heading down for my next cruise during hurricane season in Oct

What is up with our weather this summer? I thought tornados never came into large metropolitan areas like Chicago? If it's not tornado warnings we're having severe thunderstorms!

I heard about the earthquake. I heard the Canadian earthquake was felt in Illinois.

Just what we need this summer! More fun!

 How did he make out Nan? Were you and Molly able to find something fun to do to help pass the time?

Good luck Willie!

too little too late. He was 2nd out of 3 (whopee) at the heat and dropped his chain (that means he is out) then did the same thing in the main. He is a whopping 0 for 5 this year. Frankly I'm a bit over the effort and money we have spent this year. He isn't trying or doing his part (with what I require at home) and Paul seems to think the budget is unlimited (ya - on the credit card) so I'm just done with the whole thing. And in a very pissy mood over it too - can ya tell

Now to get ready for a bbque for 8 people and finish 3 sets of volunteer books (accounting) tonight - then go back to a job that I dread tomorrow - not loving life right now.

That is one pretty cool looking bed!! :thumbsup2
It is, and the storage would be great, but now he doesn't want it! ;) He's so happy with having the loft bed gone, he just wants to keep the temporary bed. Whatever, fine with me, it's his room. :thumbsup2

Happy Pride Day everyone,

I decided to keep Sukie company at the parade while he took photos. There were over 250 floats/entrants in the parade and over a half a million people. Most of them drunk from what I could seen.

I am even more exhausted and tired and achy than a day at the parks.

It was fun in a way. Sukie took lots of photos for his paper and lots of people fussed over him, because "Out and Proud in Chicago" has been screening all week on PBS.

We went to to party at the paper's office. All I wanted to do was sit down and have a cold drink. It was not to be, more people fussing over Sukie. One very drunk young man became very enamored and would not leave Sukie alone. I'm afraid I was a bit rude to the young man, tapped his shoulder and said, "Excuse me but perhaps you're too drunk to have noticed the wedding ring?"

Actually, wasn't jealous sort at all he just caught me at a bad time, I was cranky hot, tired. I was annoyed that we couldn't just sit quietly and have a cold drink.

The young man then started to complement Sukie on his hair. I said, "It isn't real you know. It's a toupee. At night he keeps it on the night stand next to the bed."

"You shouldn't say such horrible things!" He said.

"I don't think it's horrible at al." I replied. "After all, like the toupee well enought to buy it for him!"

From there it only got worse. More people huddling around, one who apparently wanted to know what day and time Sukie and I were on TV so they could catch our show.

We ended up leaving. I never did get to sit down for very long or finish my cold drink.
:rotfl2: Sorry it was such a long day, but I LOVE your comments to the drunk guy! :rotfl2: I keep forgetting to show Tyler the promo from the link somebody provided that has Sukie towards the beginning. He'll think it's cool to see somebody he recognizes on TV. Wonder if I can find the whole show online? I didn't realize you're in it too, Ian. :thumbsup2 Even better! He does remember you both because today I was telling him I want to take him to the Legoland in Chicago, spend the night in a hotel and then go to one of the museums the 2nd day, and after a few seconds he asked "Can we go see Ian and Sukie too?" ;)

Boston Cream or Apple Fritter for me :)

Holly, what a lot of work YOU have been doing! Glad you rewarded yourself with ice cream and then donuts for breakfast :thumbsup2

Tyler's going to love his new bed and tidy clean room!
Yeah, I have no idea what's gotten into me! :rotfl:Well, I have an idea but am waiting to see if this continues before I make any assumptions.

Tornado watch has just changed to a severe thunderstorm watch, with diminishing chances of a tornado developing. I'm staying in tonight!
I take it tornado possibilities are a rarity in your area? ;) Here, a tornado watch is to be ignored, because it only means weather conditions have the potential to turn ugly, and a tornado warning isn't much of a big deal either because they've changed the warning system around here---tornado warning used to mean one has actually been spotted on the ground and headed your way. Now a warning only means one might develop. In fact, when 3 people came at different times today to haul off some stuff I was clearing out, we were under tornado warnings. ;)

 Lots of crummy stuff going on for you. Hang in there!

I had to go in to work today. It was just starting to rain as I was coming home. I had hoped to get at least an hour to sit out and read on the deck. It has been thundering for a while off in the distance and we are under a tornado watch at the moment :scared1: We've had two tornados in Ontario in the last couple of weeks.

What is it with Canada these days??? First an earthquake.. now Tornadoes???

Marilyn check your junk mail again had to resend one. old eagle eye (DEB) spotted a misspelled word

You again??? You're making this a habit... ;)

What's up with that? Tornados AND earthquakes!

Ian, I used to love going to the parade 'back in the day'. Crowds weren't that big in the 70's, but it was a great party! Now, are you sure you want Sukie to be famous? :confused3

Nan,. Did you get the haircut, or just schedule the appointment? We want photos.

I'm sure we have sirens... Just don't know what they'd be like... they did have a big enough tornado here about 15 years ago...
