HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OF OUR DADS!!!

Hope everyone has a fun and memorable day.

We're taking Ray and John out to dinner with me and the kid. I did manage to get John two more swords to add to his collection. They're just not going to arrive for another week. I'll just pick up an ice cream cake for Ray to take back to Mrs. Bush with him. That's his all time favorite. He puts it in the refrigerator and doesn't share with anyone. He says, it's all mine!:laughing:

Have a great time!

After all the driving we just did, I'm not looking forward to more driving out of town today to see my dad. I wonder if he'd feel bad if I asked him if I could come spend time with him next weekend instead of today.

I stopped celebrating Mother's Day and Father's Day when I was 8-years old. This happened after I read in the kiddy section of the Sunday newspaper that the holidays were invented by the greeting card to boost sales.

I announced to my parents that I would no longer be manipulated for commercial reasons.

I do recall my mother being asked when I was about 10-years old what I had given her for mother's day. She replied with something like, "He doesn't believe in commercialized holidays."

I have to give my parents credit that they pretty much took my oddness in stride.

There was a BIG plus side of all this for them.

Unlike my peers, I DID NOT have a big celebration/reception for my bar mitzvah. My parents asked me about it, and I told them that I thought is was crass, ostentatious, and undermined the real meaning and value of the event.

Instead, we had a very small, buffet for only my aunts, uncles and cousins, about 15 people. It was held at my aunt's house.

My oddness saved my parents a TON of money.

Ian, I love the way you think! :goodvibes

I probably won't be able to be there at 4pm....damn work! :rotfl: Can you make it later? I maybe able to get off at 530pm, which would mean I could be there about 6pm. :confused3

I envy you being able to join all the meets going on! :goodvibes

Off to mow, then call my dad afterwards to find a good time to visit today.

I guess they can just stay there drinking Champers until you arrive!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm off shortly to Will's house - Mickey's working today. We're going to be watching a movie (not sure which) & hope to go swimming.

Just talked to my Dad for Father's Day. Now off to call my brother-in-law.

Hope everyone has a fab day!

Oh, enjoy your relaxing day Monica. How nice.:thumbsup2

for my sweetie, and all of you

I have'nt given you any of these in a long while

love you

John, thank you for the flower. I noticed you mentioned for us all!!!

Well the chocolate cake was just lovely. Now I have the problem with not eating the rest of the cake!!!:scared1:

I still haven't motivated myself to mow. Maybe I'll just do it after I get back in town after going to see my dad.

Glad the cake was good! Please tell John Happy Birthday from me! :goodvibes

I will do Holly, thank you.

He has had a busy day. The builders knocked down the wall between the garage and a small back room we used as an office/recycle/rubbish room.;) It is attached to our lounge with a door through. The wall between they knocked down was a double breeze block wall. We had them rebuild the wall with one layer of bricks about 12 inches towards the garage, so with the extra we gained with the width of the wall being less has given us a considerably bigger room. There is also now a door through to the back of the garage. John has been paining in there.

Once this room is finished he will kit out the garage with decent shelves and tidy up in there, put the recycle boxes in there, and anything else we fancy. Then on to the small bedroom, which has been the rubbish, put anything in, tool room, work room, etc, since all the work began last July. Needs sorting, decorating and finishing off. Carpets needed for there and the room he is working on at the moment.

After doing a little titivating in the kitchen, that will be it till next year, then it will be our lounge.

Then I guess it all starts again the following year with the kitchen!:headache::headache::headache:

We love your oddness. It saves Sukie a ton of money every holiday also. Footie PJs and movies for a Hanukkah celebration is far more intimate and it's cheap too! A rare gem you are, our dear Ian.

I am a HUGE gift giver. I just always do it spontaneously because I see something that I think someone will like. I get great pleasure out of it.

It's Disney, so there must be a logic to it. Not necessarily a logic that would be apparent to the likes of you or I, but a logic nevertheless.

We've never been upgraded for anything.

I think they put names in a hat and pull them..

Michelle and Barbara?? How come she kept that a secret??:lmao: Could be she wanted to see you and not us and you have now spoilt that!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I have penciled myself in for everything... :rotfl::flower3:

Thought you might like this. A friend posted it as her status on FB.

'all the fathers who care, have a very Happy Fathers Day. To the ones who are no
longer with us, we are thinking of you, today especially. To the ones who didn't or don't care, may
you have huge feelings of guilt and have a really crap day!!!'

I guess she didn't have a good 'dad' experience, and though knowing it is all sad and all for everyone with this issue, knowing her she would want us to have a laugh.

Gee... I'm glad I took care of Dad this week or else I'd really be having a crappy day!!! :rotfl2:

I don't want an upgrade. It's overrated. I love my deck 5 verandah. I don't want to go any higher up.

I'd like a cat 1... just once... :woohoo: I think it sleeps like 45 or something doesn't it?

Happy Birthday Dear John

:bday:party::bday:party::bday:party::bday:

:fish:

Marilyn, please give John all of our love and best wishes that all of his dreams come true. Enjoy that chocolate cake!

I love copying... (but did you have to include the fishy??? :rotfl:

I'm proud of you guys... I went to bed and you came up with 5 pages on the thread... and Gaylean isn't even here :dance3:

Marilyn...seems like a never ending project.

Now, you guys, DON'T TELL MONICA 'cause it will break her heart (as I know she wants to do it), but I'm trying to convience Nan and Peggy to say on the Queen Mary the night before our two day cruise to nowhere in January. Just messaged Bubba, V and Gaygay on facebook to let them know about it too.

Monica and I have this on our list of pre-cruise stay options for the LA-Vancouver repo cruise, so, as a good friend, I thought I should check it out in advance! :lmao:

Family stateroom with 2 queen beds and my AAA discount is $151 including all taxes. Wouldn't it be great to have breakfast on the Queen Mary and lunch on the Wonder? :thumbsup2 ::yes::

And we get great pleasure out of receiving it!

.....that reminds me, better check last night's lottery numbers to see if I can charter a ship for us.......

.

So that's why the American Mother's Day doesn't coincide with Mothering Sunday in the UK!!! I didn't realise it was a Hallmark invention. Ours is usually the 4th Sunday in Lent rather than during May...

Richard is such a fab Dad (not a given in this world) that, even if Father's Day didn't exist, I would have made the day up so we could show him our appreciation...

I love that attitude - that's pretty much how I feel about weddings. Ours was a low-key and very cheap event whilst many of our friends cost their parents ££££s - guess which couple are the only ones still together...? A friend of mine has just spent £35k+ on her daughter's wedding!!! I said I'd want a money back guarantee if the union didn't work out... ;)

I've decided if I ever get married that Elvis will be involved...and probably a convertible and a drive thru weddding chapel... :lmao:

Deborah - I've never been upgraded either...7 cruises. I'm honestly just happy to get on the ship.

I'd be happy to be on any ship... well... not any... but Disney will do...

for my sweetie, and all of you

I have'nt given you any of these in a long while

I have those starting to bloom in my garden...:goodvibes :goodvibes

And those are the gifts that mean the most!!!

Well i do hope we get to meet in October, or even the TA cruise?????;)

The thing about dad's meant the uncaring dad's should have a crap day, not the caring daughters!!!

I saw my nephew, Will, while I was down in Jersey. He is graduating from 8th grade this week. He came up to me on Wednesday and whispered "Guess where I'm going???" "Where???" "A cruise..." "Ohhhh Really??? When???" "Tomorrow... it's on the Spirit of NJ and we're going around the Statue of Liberty and having lunch..."

He SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wants to go on a cruise... he looks at my pictures whenever I'm opening the DCL pic of the day thread...

I'm hoping that I can take him next Feb over his winter break. I can just see his face when he sees the ship compared to the little lunch cruise he takes around NY harbor... :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I am SINCERELY working on it... it's very close, which I know everyone's heard before, but Michael came home last week and he never would have left Europe if he had to stay to finish anything else up.
