Wow! The thread has been a bit busy this week, but I'm all caught up.
Michelle, here's some hugs for you and your friends.
Holly - sounds like you've been having some fun. Keep it up! All of us married folk are living vicariously through you
Hi Everybody!
We had a great time in Vancouver checking out the Olympic celebration sites. Since it was a last minute impulse to go, we did not have tickets to any events, but we were able to check out almost all the free "celebration sites". Saw the Olympic cauldron in daytime and nighttime, saw the Olympic rings glowing golden (they are gold on the days Canada won gold medals, and other days, they are in Olympic colours). The girls met a Canadian gold medalist from the Beijing summer Olympics and touched the medal. Kaleigh tried driving a bobsleigh in a simulator game. We saw Americans, Germans, Russians, Czechs, Estonias, and Swiss people proudly wearing their countries colours; and of course, tons of Canadians.
At the Swiss pavilion we saw 2 old guys playing the Swiss wooden long horns. I don't know the proper name, but I was surprised how beautiful they sound. We all got to do a biatholon simulator.
Overall a fun time. The girls were great walking all over to see things. And we got to drive home today on Kaleigh's birthday. My baby is now 5 years old. Shaelyn is away tonight at a Brownie's sleepover, and Kaleigh is sleeping in the top bunk (Shaelyn's spot) and is very proud of herself.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KALEIGH!!!!!

I think Epcot gives a great picture of a lot of countries in a short time. After all the people working in the countries come from 'their' country that they are working in. The clothes they wear might be a little OTT as far as their national dress goes and the scenery might be miniaturised and plastic in places, but the rest you see is pretty good. I guess you don't see Russians, Estonians, Czechs and Swiss there though!!! But if there was a Swiss Pavilion at Epcot I bet they would have the alpinehorns there!!! If a Swiss Pavilion isn't in Switzerland then it can't be completely real can it, wherever it is???
They'd have to build another Matterhorn in Florida... & sell Toblerones...
This has been a very busy week, that started badly with Presidents Day but ended on a more balanced note.
I'm still trying to get Sukie's health insurance straightened out. I enrolled him for benefits, but Blue Cross Blue Shield is still showing him as cancelled and just rejected the claim for the physical he had on Monday. No one in HR can give me any estimate as to when Blue Cross will make the correction in their system.
Meanwhile I found out from my physical that I have abnormally low cholesterol, which considering that it's the bad cholesterol is good.
Now the bad news is that my good cholesterol (HDL) is much too low and is getting serious. The doctor offered me three alternatives of treatment. One meant even more aerobic exercise than I have now, which is not going to happen. I don't have enough hours in the day. Another was taking 500mg of Niacin everyday, and possibly living with hot flashes. The third was having red wine everyday.
Guess which one I chose? I have now started to have red wine with my dinner every night. I wonder if I can get the doctor to write me a prescription? I wonder if I could then use my health spending account to buy wine?
I like wine, but typically I have only about 3 glasses a year. I'm not used to having it daily.
Today we have to go off in search of slightly cheaper red wine, or a few dollars cheaper than from my local wine merchant.
I actually don't really like having wine every night, I'd prefer Diet Coke. I'm also not used to the effects of wine every night. I'm finding that I'm a bit more relaxed than I tend to be. That's probably a good thing.

Facebook is interesting. I joined a group for people who grew up in my neighborhood in the 50's and 60's. I got a note from someone that I was in Public School (grade school) with, who also friended me.
I seem to recall that he was a bully and a bit of a jerk.
I find it so hard when someone wants to "catch up." Our paths diverged sharply after public school which ended in June 1967. We went to different junior highs, high schools and universities.
Maybe I should just tell him that I think he looks hot for his age. That might terminate any questions.
Hot flashes aren't too bad during the winter... (this coming from someone who's been in shorts for weeks...)
& your "looks hot for his age" might backfire on you...

Signing off for a week now. A little peace for you all. I'll be very busy onboard looking for Handsome Daniel etc!!!!!!!
Byee, have a good week.
Why don't I feel bad for her?
