Hi Nana, don't 'cha just LOVE Survivor this season....Heros vs. Villians. Who do you love the most? I'm going for Boston Rob. There's so many there that I love, but Boston Rob has to be on top of the list. I hate Russell. I want him out fast. It's great this season.

I love Russell, I like Rob too, but my favorite is James :lovestruc

Just let him know that you had a good time too and that you would love to go for coffee with him sometime. It keeps it more friendly with less "date" pressure. Lunch is good too. Tell him you would love to get together after he settles into his new job. Not too many new things at once for him. Keep it casual but persistent. It sounds like he could be worth it. Is he the energizer bunny? If so, I fully understand his type. He's very focused on work and that's his comfort zone....at least you can relate to him on that level. It's a good start.

 the energizer bunny is the old guy :lmao: funny picture in my head Holly with the old guy :rotfl2:

I think I hate Russell because he is just like my son in law Joe. That's what Joe tries to do to Sandi and to me and John. That's why we hate him. Joe is just like Russell except that he's not as smart and doesn't have his money. :rotfl::rotfl:

James and Stephanie really got into it this week. James was right, she did cost them the challenge and she did have a mouth on her. She had to go.

Ooops. Sorry. My mistake....that is a funny image though.:laughing::laughing:

Wow! The thread has been a bit busy this week, but I'm all caught up.

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Michelle, here's some hugs for you and your friends.

Holly - sounds like you've been having some fun. Keep it up! All of us married folk are living vicariously through you ;):goodvibes:goodvibes

Hi Everybody!

We had a great time in Vancouver checking out the Olympic celebration sites. Since it was a last minute impulse to go, we did not have tickets to any events, but we were able to check out almost all the free "celebration sites". Saw the Olympic cauldron in daytime and nighttime, saw the Olympic rings glowing golden (they are gold on the days Canada won gold medals, and other days, they are in Olympic colours). The girls met a Canadian gold medalist from the Beijing summer Olympics and touched the medal. Kaleigh tried driving a bobsleigh in a simulator game. We saw Americans, Germans, Russians, Czechs, Estonias, and Swiss people proudly wearing their countries colours; and of course, tons of Canadians.
At the Swiss pavilion we saw 2 old guys playing the Swiss wooden long horns. I don't know the proper name, but I was surprised how beautiful they sound. We all got to do a biatholon simulator.
Overall a fun time. The girls were great walking all over to see things. And we got to drive home today on Kaleigh's birthday. My baby is now 5 years old. Shaelyn is away tonight at a Brownie's sleepover, and Kaleigh is sleeping in the top bunk (Shaelyn's spot) and is very proud of herself.

It sounds like you had a great time and what a wonderful opportunity with it being sort of in your own backyard.

And for the girls, a much realer experience than Epcot.

I think Epcot gives a great picture of a lot of countries in a short time. After all the people working in the countries come from 'their' country that they are working in. The clothes they wear might be a little OTT as far as their national dress goes and the scenery might be miniaturised and plastic in places, but the rest you see is pretty good. I guess you don't see Russians, Estonians, Czechs and Swiss there though!!! But if there was a Swiss Pavilion at Epcot I bet they would have the alpinehorns there!!! If a Swiss Pavilion isn't in Switzerland then it can't be completely real can it, wherever it is???

This has been a very busy week, that started badly with Presidents Day but ended on a more balanced note.

I'm still trying to get Sukie's health insurance straightened out. I enrolled him for benefits, but Blue Cross Blue Shield is still showing him as cancelled and just rejected the claim for the physical he had on Monday. No one in HR can give me any estimate as to when Blue Cross will make the correction in their system.

Meanwhile I found out from my physical that I have abnormally low cholesterol, which considering that it's the bad cholesterol is good.

Now the bad news is that my good cholesterol (HDL) is much too low and is getting serious. The doctor offered me three alternatives of treatment. One meant even more aerobic exercise than I have now, which is not going to happen. I don't have enough hours in the day. Another was taking 500mg of Niacin everyday, and possibly living with hot flashes. The third was having red wine everyday.

Guess which one I chose? I have now started to have red wine with my dinner every night. I wonder if I can get the doctor to write me a prescription? I wonder if I could then use my health spending account to buy wine?

I like wine, but typically I have only about 3 glasses a year. I'm not used to having it daily.

Today we have to go off in search of slightly cheaper red wine, or a few dollars cheaper than from my local wine merchant.

I actually don't really like having wine every night, I'd prefer Diet Coke. I'm also not used to the effects of wine every night. I'm finding that I'm a bit more relaxed than I tend to be. That's probably a good thing.

--------------------------------

Facebook is interesting. I joined a group for people who grew up in my neighborhood in the 50's and 60's. I got a note from someone that I was in Public School (grade school) with, who also friended me.

I seem to recall that he was a bully and a bit of a jerk.

I find it so hard when someone wants to "catch up." Our paths diverged sharply after public school which ended in June 1967. We went to different junior highs, high schools and universities.

Maybe I should just tell him that I think he looks hot for his age. That might terminate any questions.

Enjoy the red wine Ian!! I was told to use Olive Oil in cooking as it is a good cholesterol and balances the bad. Now that seems odd, but I did as I was told. It is always the same. Lose weight(:rolleyes1), exercise more(:headache:), cut down on the bad fats(:laughing:cheese is my weakness)

John was put on Statins straight away when his Cholesterol was a little high. Mine was higher, but I wasn't given that option. I think his family history wasn't too good on heart attacks etc. At least he has less chance of Altzheimers now!!!!!

Signing off for a week now. A little peace for you all. I'll be very busy onboard looking for Handsome Daniel etc!!!!!!!

Byee, have a good week.

Thanks!

BTW - did you see the other pics??? Please remind me of the Osso Bucco & that Amaretto Explosion desert when we are next in Palo....those look yummy!!

Did you see the seas/water on CC day?? No wonder they had trouble departing!

I have been up for quite a few hours, but finally got around to doing SOMETHING :lmao: I cleaned up the kitchen a bit, started the dishwasher (:laundy: probably tomorrow) & stuck a chunk of meat in the crock pot for dinner.

Spoke w/ my sister & neice earlier & now I'm here w/ my friends :goodvibes

Wishing I was w/ Maz & John on board the Magic....here's knowing they'll have a great time :thumbsup2

Ian - got the revised time for dinner :thumbsup2

Need to pay some bills today (yuck)....guess it must be done. Catching up on some tv viewing as well. :happytv: Really nothing else planned for today :upsidedow

Welll, I didn't plan on spending the whole morning on the computer....I could just pretend I slept in.

No, didn't see the other pictures, will go look now.

I will do bills today and kitchen cleaning and restocking the kitchen. Was planniig on some weed pulling, but it's been raining all morning (another reason for wanting to stay in my jammies).

Had a nice long conversation with my first cousin/once removed. She and her hubby want to come out for a visit at the end of may and I may take a couple of days and run over to Disneyland with them (twist my arm)!

Get to have lunch with Mr & Mrs Woody tomorrow in Sedona. Very much looking forward to that. Monica....any ports-of-call questions I should be asking them???

Ian, here's a little something for you.......take it daily with a glass of wine!

.

Hi Deb!!

Unfortunately headache is still around...I'm hoping that a good night's sleep :cloud9: will help it go away.

I have NO plans this weekend....other than sleep & :laundy:. I'm so looking forward to NO alarm clock tomorrow!!!

12 days of work in a row is a killer!
Monica, I hope you're feeling better by now.

No, he's not the Energizer Bunny, but is his associate. He's quite a procrastinator when it comes to work. I often have to nag him to get overdue things done. ;)

Today I dropped a "Congrats on your new job" card in the mail, and added a handwritten note inside asking him if he'd like to have lunch sometime soon. I think he'd feel much more comfortable in a lunch atmosphere rather than an evening date, just to start off slowly for him. As long as I can see positive signs of his interest, I have no problems being patient and going slow. He's a great guy.

Holly - I'd give you dating tips, but somehow, I don't think my tips would work.

Very close Nan. I stopped working for the old guy about a year ago, THANK GOODNESS! ;) The old guy's name is Mr. Murphy and he'll be 82 on April 1st! The energizer bunny's name is Mike and he's very handsome, in his 50s, but happily married. He's also the president of the Michigan Vinters Club and the head of the local Cystic Fibrosis group. And he manages to go with his wife to stay in their condo up north in MI for skiing trips a couple times a month. Super busy guy!

Wow Shannon, such an amazing experience for you and your family! Truly a once in a lifetime chance. Some great things you all got to do, sounds wonderful! :goodvibes
