Good morning all! Nice thing is that I have a 3-day weekend.

I had an awful week at work, really awful. I do not like to post these things online, but it is very different from before. This is not about stress and pressure. It's about something very different, and a very different dynamic.

I really need to figure out what to do.

On a positive and cheery note, the Apple Store phoned yesterday. Sukie's iMac is ready. They needed to replace the logic board and the fan. I figure that if we hadn't had Applecare this would have been about a $700 to $800 repair.

So my recommendation to all you Mac or would be Mac owners is always get the Applecare plan. It's a good deal and well worth the money.

So the good news is that as of today, I get my office back and Sukie can start working in his own office today.

We leave in about 5 minutes to drive back out to Old Orchard mall, which should take about 20 minutes at this time of day.

We also have 2 new arrivals at Eastwood Manor, well in the tenants section of Eastwood Manor. They guys upstairs picked up their Westie puppies yesterday. Two little 12 week old boys. They're very cute. Truman and Tallulah met them. The puppies are just about the same size as Truman and Tallulah.

Truman has been very stand-offish and does not seem to like the puppies. The puppies were all over Tallulah, who kept trying to get away from them. She was running around the apartment upstairs snorting very loudly. She starts snorting when she's frustrated. In this case the little boys would not leave her alone or get their noses and muzzles out of her private bits. She found it rather distressing.

Truman on the other hand just wanted to be held and was clingy. I think he's a little fraidy cat.

The Magic is still at Castaway Cay. The had to stay moored there overnight due to storms and haven't set sail as of a little while ago! :scared1:

.

This is what DCL is doing for today's group that would have been getting on the Magic:

From Disney

"Due to unfavorable weather conditions in the Bahamas, the arrival of the Disney Magic into Port Canaveral has been delayed today. We now anticipate beginning boarding of today's voyage later this evening.
We realize this delay in check-in and boarding is disappointing to you, and hope you understand these current weather conditions could not be helped.
We have arranged complimentary Theme Park admission at Epcot today for our embarking passengers. We invite you to visit the Disney Cruise Line Hospitality Desk at Epcot to receive admission tickets and meal gift card.
We sincerely regret the delay and appreciate your patience. Please call 1-800-939-2784 after 1 p.m. this afternoon for further updates."

.
The poor people who were going to be getting off the ship having to deal with missed flights, etc. And possibly sailing home over some rough seas, they had a pretty rocky night at CC already.

.

A big busy day of watching Olympic activities is planned for me today. Meanwhile Shannon is taking the girls to Prince George as she is going dress shopping with my sister who is getting married at the beginning of September and Shannon is a bridesmaid so needs a dress.

So I guess I am bachelor this weekend. woo hoo!! Sports sports and more sports.

LOL - it sounds like everyone is going to have a good weekend :)

I didn't get to watch too much of the ceremony last night...but I did like the polar bear & the whales (<-- that was really cool!)

What I did see was beautifully done. Too bad for the technical difficulties at the end.

Hi!:flower3: everyone...

Glad to touch base with you all . Things are going along here in Prescott...after a good bit of rain/snow, we have several days of typical sunny AZ winter weather coming up.

I've almost got things back to normal from the wonder trip with Jackie and Monica. I had a party last Sunday for the Super Bowl (I've had one for the past 8 or 9 years). It was fun! Almost all women (one token male, the fiance' of one gal). I served baked potatoes with different toppings and that worked out really well. I think I'll do that again next year. Loved watching the Big Game on the big screen!

I've been trying to catch up on movies before the Academy Awards. Yester day saw Avatar, the day before An Education, today Crazy Heart. There's some I have to rent as I missed them in the theaters (or they never made it up here). I'm having an Academy Awards party, another tradition that I've done for well over 10 years. It's quite a bash, I even have a red carpet that I roll out from my front door. So that's coming up in 3 weeks.

On Wed. I'm leaving to go to Mexico to spend a few days with a high school friend and his wife. I'm going to Rocky Point, which is about a 6.5 hr drive, about an hour south of the border. I don't think I'll have internet down there, but will post some pictures if I can. The weather should be wonderful and we're staying about a block from the beach.

Ian, funny you should post about eBags, I've been meaning to tell you that I bit the bullet and bought a new piece of luggage after I got home. I got an Eagle Creek Tarmac 28" which I think is going to be really great. It's made to accommodate their packing cubes, which I already have and use. I guess I'll be christening it when I come to Chicago!

Ken and Shannon, unfortunately I missed the opening ceremonies last night--Avatar took precedence, what can I say? Actually, I've been trying for a month to go see it, and it finally worked out with my friends that we could all do it Friday and I truthfully forgot about the Olympics! I know, how could I??? I'll be watching the games, though, for sure!

I guess this has turned into a letter to friends rather than a post...that's what happens when I only post once in a blue moon.:goodvibes

Hi Gayleen, Deborah, Deb, Shannon, Ian, Michelle, Jackie, Monica, Marilyn, Ken, Nan and everyone I forgot (sorry)!:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

couldn't quote any one cuz I got unlogged in and I'm too lazy to go back and grab them all to quote so I'll just say....

sorry I missed ya last night I thought the dis was down and never looked back at the page HI GAYLEAN  Miss you

bummer for those who are wanting to get on the ship - I'd be sad but Epcot is better than nothing :thumbsup2

Ian wish I could give ya a real  I know this work stuff is suckie for you right now. I'll just listen if you need an ear :cool2:

weekend activties here : baseball, play work day set building, yard work, house work, laundry and real work for me (I can only get some things done when no one is in the database during the normal work day)

Sunday we have a dinner planned with my mom, sister and her bf, paul and I. no kids. fancy resturant where we had our rehersal dinner and celebrated mom and dads 50th anniversary. Mom and Dad's anniversay was 2/11 so we are celebrating it on Vday

Michelle told me I need to stop on by here again. I have not been on the DIS for months . . . too much work, and FaceBook has been more efficient for me I guess. For those of you not on Facebook, I hope all is well with you my friends, and winter is not treating you too badly.

Things are pretty unchanged here - snow and more snow.

We have not been on a cruise again since we were with all of you - we have been to Disney a couple of times.

Our next cruise is an Alaska in July 2011 - far too long, but the economy has not been too kind to us.

We are enjoying watching the winter Olympics as a family - one of our favorite things to do every two years.

I'll try to check in every once in awhile . . . and Ian, I never have bought Applecare. Maybe dumb, but see then I can always tell Amy if the old one is broken we need a new one!

Hi John. though I see you on Facebook, it is great to have you back on here, for however short a time it is! Seems like old times.:)

Thanks Marilyn. I really enjoy keeping up with you and John on FaceBook, but it is nice to check in back here. Amazing how everyone has kept in touch for so long. Really nice.

The snow has finally stopped. Shoveled for the 4th time this morning before I even had my coffee.

I had done it right before I went to bed and I am amazed at how much accumulated overnight. Based on what was removed yesterday, I would say that Eastwood Manor got over a foot of snow. I would say it was about 16 inches / 41 cm.

Now comes the second huge physical effort, I have to get dressed to leave for work. It takes me about 10 minutes to get suited and booted up.

Wow! We only ended up with about 10 inches.

I don't envy you getting all that gear on for heading out to work. I don't need half the items you do since I don't have the walking you do, but that's the only part of winter I hate. Getting the coat and gloves on to get in to the car, then take it all off because otherwise I'd get too warm in the car, then put it all back on to go from the car through the parking lot wherever we are. Same for Tyler too, he hates it as much as I do. :headache:

Good Morning Friends! We only got about an inch of snow overnight, but it's starting to pick up a little now. We expect to get wallopped as the day goes on. John took a snow day off today. He would have made it into work, but he would not have made it home. We expect NJ to declare a state of emergency so he should be fine.

Glad he took the day off. You certainly don't need that worry.

I got a phone call from Sandi last night. Kris can't miss any school or he won't graduate....something about not turning in assignments and having to do make up work. So his trip up here is cancelled. It's a good thing I didn't spend a lot on the plane tickets. I can get about half the money back when I cancel so I'm only out $75. Sandi told Kris that he owes it back to me. Kids! They're so unpredictable.

Oh, sorry to hear this, Deb. :guilty:

We're up to about 2 feet already and it's coming down fast. John said it's heavy wet snow that packs down really well. He said if he was 20 years younger and all the kids and grands were here...they would all be outside building things. How cool.

They're still saying we're getting 2 inches an hour until about 8:00 pm. We'll have at least 3 feet by then, maybe more. WOW! That's a lot of snow. It'll be dark soon, so we won't get to see how much it ends up at until tomorrow morning.

Angel, the weather dog, keeps going outside to lie in it then she comes through her doggie door covered in white and shakes. EEK!:laughing::laughing:

Wow, that's a lot of snow! I'm jealous! Tyler just received some pictures in the mail today from my mom, taken in a heavy snowstorm in Feb. 1978. I was 7 1/2 years old, just a couple months older than Tyler is now. I've told him about this storm, so he was thrilled to see the pictures! The snow was so deep, I was able to dig sort of a cave in it and sit up inside. I'll try to remember to take the pics to work and scan them in so I can share. There's a picture of the picnic table standing up on an end and the snow is more than 1/2 way up. Nobody could even FIND their cars because the snow level was higher than cars are tall. Very cool!

Snow at home so far.

This is my car.
