my contract work is turning into a full time gig for now until who knows???

good news of course, but stressful without being able to get all the work done quickly and missing the kids and being at home :sad2:

Thinking of you guys thru out the day ::yes:: hopefully this just means more cruise money in the long run.

Now if we can get Paul employed again all will be back to normal, whatever that is :laughing:

see ya tomorrow night :flower3:

Nan, If Ian laid off or no job as I would have to work full times... but I understand that Paul is not working so you got the job so need the money too... I know you will miss the kids but they will be at school when you are working, u should be fine, well I think so :laughing::laughing:

That's awful, Deborah!!! :sad2: I was reading this morning that 3000+ people are stranded overseas - so not a great situation... I hope your credit card company can refund you... :hug:

Yes, I couldn't sleep last night after I was thinking about 3000+ people plus staff got laid off without warning... must be horrible for their Xmas Period...

I phoned CC Company this morning and they told me to phone back within couple of days...:confused3 I said why because I already spoke to you and they said yes they put my name down on label and let the staff know... I thought strange... I will call back tom morning if they say same things I will go to CAB to find out...

I got email today that Hen's Party (girl together for bride to be) had been cancelled because we paid the cash to travel agent - bad luck...

Funny that I am not bother with it as I thought it was too many girls 25 but I do worry about my flight booking for August as I paid for 6 people which was expensive for one way...

It is officially butt A$$ FREEZING here... -5 tonight with windchills... (I know... Ken and Shannon had it much worse... but I'm still in the mood to wear SHORTS!!!)

It looks like we'll get a white Xmas... Coastal storm on Sat/Sun and then more on Xmas eve... just as long as I can get mom over to the airport on Monday and get her out to Texas... then I can come home and hibernate...

Time to figure out what foods to stock in for next week... So... who long DOES a pan of lasagna last??? :rotfl:

I don't recommend shorts at -5F, (unless you're going for the blue-skinned alien look;) )

Today is a wound doctor day. I'm eating some breakfast...WW egg mcmuffins...so that I can take some vicodin before visiting the doctor. John is driving. My leg is already in a lot of pain because while we were in a panic to get the turtles back in their tanks earlier this week, I backed into something and wacked the most sensitive part of the back of my leg....the spot where they take the cultures. I have stayed off vicodin all week and just tolerated the pain. But going to the doctor and having them poke around again is going to need vicodin. Soon I'll be as loopy as Michelle.

John is making coffee. We leave in about an hour.

I'm so happy to hear good news from Kathe about Serenity, Nan about the job front and Ian for having some time off.

Now we need pixie dust for Shannon to get her new job, Deborah to get her money back and Marilyn to get out of the hospital and home again.

Kaz it's good to hear from you....I know you're having fun.

Everyone gets hugs today.:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

:grouphug: How did the trip to the doctor's go Deb?

Good morning all!

Nice to be able to have a little leisurely time to get online.

I start my vacation this afternoon. I was supposed to start at about 11am, and I will, but I think I'll also dial in for a status/project conference call at 1 pm.

Otherwise I'm trying to figure out what to do with my time today. It might be PS3 time. I might need to kill something.

All is rather quiet at Eastwood Manor. This is our slack season.

There might be change from our traditional Christmas dinner, which is egg and chips. For some reason, which I'm not quite sure how it came about, I'm making vegetarian Toad in the Hole.

Our lives have been pretty boring lately, which is probably a good thing. Work has been keeping me busy and the transition has been stressful, probably more for my colleagues than for myself because in the month since the sale closed, I've only had about 2 hours of conversation with my manager. I think he's a good guy, but seems to be wrapped up in a lot of crisis. I'm not quite sure why that seems to keep happening.

Otherwise, I'm just looking forward to having some time off.

Enjoy your vacation Ian, you deserve it after the last few stressful weeks you've had. Leave your work behind!!! Do you still have your WW meeting on Sunday? And I'm curious too...what the heck IS vegetarian Toad in the Hole :confused:

Congrats Nan! :banana:

Both times she's told Santa she wants a Barbie castle, and I've told Santa that he can't bring that. I know she'll like whatever she gets, but I'm curious what her reaction will be on Christmas morning.

Shannon, I'm curious about Kaleigh's reaction to this. Did she ask you why he can't bring it? And if so, what did you tell her? I'm just curious so I'll have some idea what to say if it ever comes up with Tyler with something he asks for. He knows Santa doesn't bring everything you ask for, I've told him from the beginning that the list is just a bunch of ideas for Santa to choose one or 2 things from, so he'll still be surprised Christmas morning. But I'm just curious.

Glad you got to enjoy seeing both girls sing....sounds fun! :thumbsup2

You were very productive last night, so it was worth staying up late then. :goodvibes

come to think of it... I dared you too... ;)

Bubba... I'm gettin a foot of snow this weekend... you busy???

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I can picture the three of you having such fun!

:beach::drinking1:dance3::drinking1:beach:

::yes:: we will!

With Christmas company coming and work taking up big chunks of my brain, I keep getting little waves of delight when I REMEMBER I'm going on a cruise in 35 days!!!!! This one is so laid back and the few details to be arranged are just falling into place. Helps to travel with veteran cruisers AND the fact that many of the arrangements/bookings are being taken care of by someone else, makes this a 'just pack your bag and go' kind of vacation. Nan, this must be the way you felt for the Tortola cruise, I'm thinking.

Nan, if you do come to Phoenix, but sure and contact Peg on facebook as I know she'll want to see you guys. That is her birthday weekend and as of last night, no special plans were made. She did mumble something about Vegas, but I think that was the following weekend...unclear on that (as one often is when conversing with an Air sign). Sorry, but I'll be on the Magic that weekend.

Shannon, I get exhausted reading your posts! I remember the good old days of youth and energy. :goodvibes And, isn't it time for more pictures (I want to see those sparkly tights).

Michelle, a pan of lasagna should hold you for quite some time. Think of using it as a side dish for a couple of meals, maybe with some chicken parm or mild/sweet Italian sausage. Personally, I could eat lasagna for breakfast!

Oh, KAZ....you were in my dream the night before last. You were mocking me for not having had a fresh pedicure for my trip!:sad2: Don't worry, is on the list of things that MUST be done.

Speaking of 'musts', final purging weekend coming up. Cleaning people come at 7AM :scared1: on Monday. (A team of four for two hours...they are VERY thorough)

Hugs to everyone! :grouphug:

I've got a secret.....here are pictures of it.

It's hanging out under the tree.....just six more days (we open on christmas eve) to wait to unwrap it. Gee....I wonder what it could be?

Sweetie, FYI.....we're expecting a Nor'easter coming in tonight. I think we have french toast and we'll need to check the gas for the generator. The news is saying 1-2 feet. Make sure the Beast is gassed up and ready to go. We might want to get more kero too. Try to get home early tonight. Lots to do to get ready. HLN says it's coming tonight into tomorrow right up the east coast. It will be time to play with the plow. Be careful driving home if it starts before you leave.

I am still working on Sunday, so I'm not off work completely.

I am going to try to leave work behind me. I had intended to phone in for an 8:30 am conference call this morning but forgot. I think I'll phone in on Monday. I was pretty PO'd with the new headquarters in NY. For TWO weeks I've been asking for direction on something and saying that I was going on vacation after 12pm on the 17th. I heard nothing from them. When did they decide to call? At 3:00pm on the 17th, when I was supposed to be gone.

Ok... the tag is the hint???

You're gonna turn him into one of Holly's rats and make him go ice skating... :idea: :idea:

Deb... I love how you guys communicate...

& John... get more milk, chocolate and beef jerky :eek:... that will get you through the storm of the century...lolol

These are the snow tips I gave to the "Southern" people on the Bendy thread... the ones who are now freaking out that they may get a foot of snow tomorrow...

Ok...

Snow tips...

1. Buy chocolate... forget the bread and milk... B&M are nothing without cold cuts and cereal...

2. Pray for light and fluffy snow... not heavy wet stuff... it's lighter to shovel... but the heavy wet stuff is needed for a good snow fort.

3. always turn INTO a skid... and never into an 18 wheeler...

4. Buy batteries... NEVER run the generator IN your living room...

5. Make friends with the neighbor who moved down from up north and never sold any of the following... a. snowblower, b. snowshovel, c. cross country ski's or D. subscription to Wine of the Month club.

6. The extra gas you have for your lawn mower... is a good bribe for the neighbor with said snowblower... so is schnaaps.

7. It WILL melt... it may be July... but there could be a heatwave in January... you never know... in Bora Bora...

8. If this is the "STORM OF THE CENTURY"... just remember this is only 2009.

9. Christmas cookies CAN and SHOULD be used as food rations. That fruitcake could come in handy this time.

10. Snowplow drivers CAN be your friend... until he makes his pass through after you've shoveled...
