Here's my thoughts on your eating tips ;)

Eating Tips for the Holidays.

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday
buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see
carrots, leave immediately. Go next door where they're serving rum
balls.but I LIKE carrot sticks; but I must agreee rum ball are better ::yes::

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can and quickly. You can't find
it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has
10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into
an 'eggnog-aholic' or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it! Have one for
me. Have two. It's later than you think. Eggnog is YUCKY!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole
point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a
volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the
volcano. Repeat. mashed potatoes are yucky, put the gravy on the meat or on a bun YUMMY!

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim
milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a
sports car with an automatic transmission. once again, mashed potatoes are yucky

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to
control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is
to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello!?!? can't argue with that one. But I'll add make sure you have friends with good food tastes ::yes::

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and
New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to
do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling
the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of
eggnog.I must exercise but I'll make exercise fun (interpret that as you wish ;)

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table,
like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position
yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before
becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of
shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again. this is another one that can't be argued with

8. Same for pies. Apple, pumpkin and mincemeat - have a slice
of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one
pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one
dessert -- Labor Day? its always 2 desserts followed by treats later

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the
mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have
some standards. there's bad Christmas fruitcake to be avoided at all costs, and there's the occasional delicious fruitcake to be savoured and enjoyed

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the
party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention.
Reread tips: Start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. no, no, no, holidays must be enjoyed, no bellyaches allowed

Happy Holidays!
.

Now I'm back to comment some more :goodvibes

Marilyn - hope the cold feels better soon!

Deb - yes my girls are wired for Christmas. We've never done the mailing a letter to Santa. The girls have not made real lists, then just went through the Sears catalog and circled everything the like! :scared1: Today they informed me they both want cowboy hats :confused3

I am guilty of encouraging extreme Christmas enthusiasm. This year, the girls have the basic chocolate advent calendars. We have a cross-stitch advent calendar, where they hang up a new piece everyday. And this year I finally opened up the 3 playmobile toy set advent calendars, where everyday you open a box and add a piece to the playset. Since there's 3, the girls each do 1 and the 3rd one is mine. :lmao:

Holly - glad you're happy about getting snow. We've had a couple inches on the ground for about a week. Its been too cold to melt, and its warming up enough to snow this weekend.

But are you into receiving them? We have people on our list that we send to but they don't send back. That's fine. We want to send them. Please be a part of the receiving group and let Michelle know your address.;);)

yeah Kathe... :rolleyes1

Well... today the pain is back... slept through the day... I gotta tell ya... Obama's speech on Vicodin was VERY interesting...

Have to decide what to do in the next day or so... I'm thinking a chiropractor - I've been to one before for a sciatica problem so I think that maybe they can help me out this time... we'll see...

Asking MAJOR prayers and Pixie dust for my friend Kathy...

We found out last week that she has a brain tumor - they then found out it was bigger than they thought and they are doing surgery tomorrow...

PLEASE keep her in your thoughts and prayers :littleangel: :littleangel:

Thanks... :grouphug:

A chiropractor should help. Considering all the nerves go through the spinal cord, it would make sense that if you have a vertebra or 2 even slightly out of whack, nerves could get pinched. :thumbsup2

Thanks Shannon. I'm feeling better, but the cold and cough are still big problems.

Worth going to see a chiropractor I think. You need all the help you can get.

Thanks all... waiting to hear about Kathy... Surgery started at 7... they think it will take about 4-5 hours...

Dozing on and off... trying to figure out how to do what I've got to do with the pain meds... :flower3:

Time to share some Christmas pictures

Here's a close up of a few ornaments on the tree. The 2 angels are the girls. That was their annual ornament a couple years ago.

Here's my penguin candle set. I've had it for 7 years I think and never burned the candles - can't get wax dripping on my penguins :lmao:
185050.jpg

One display case with the nativity scene, my teddy bear training center, my mickey bobbleheads, our Santa key, and other stuff. Can you tell we love Christmas decorating?;)
185029.jpg

Another display case with Darth Vader and Yoda, and the girls stockings hanging up. I made Ken's & my stocking before we had kids and bought enough felt to make kids ones in the future. Similarily we bought the stocking hangers after we had Shaelyn and bought an extra one knowing we would eventually have another kid. Good thing Kaleigh wasn't twins :lmao:
184955.jpg

And of course, what good is sharing pictures is I don't share my girls too!

And one last one of Kaleigh happily played with the Christmas toys (Rudolph play set, Little People santa set, and the classic nesting doll!). The girls love it and it only comes out at Christmas.

LOVE the penguins!!

Beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing!

Only 1 I can't see is the last one :(

Fantastic photos Shannon. You have some great decorations. I love your girls.:)

I bought a Playmobil Advent calendar 3 years ago for our grandaughters, and they get it out each year - they love it. It is a Victorian Christmas room scene I think.

That's the one Shaelyn is putting together. I'll have to post a picture of all 3 when they are finished.
The funniest thing about the playmobil ones, is that my aunt gave me all 3 that were available, and I had never opened them until this year. 2 of them she had actually put all the pieces into the individual daily boxes, and she had added an ornament to each box. So this year we found 2 very nice Hallmark ornament from 2002. The good thing is that only one is dated so instead of both going to Shaelyn, we'll do one as Kaleigh's.
Shaelyn has many more ornaments than Kaleigh because for her first 3 Christmases lost of people gave her ornaments, and after Kaleigh joined us, not so many ornaments were given.:confused3

Shannon, I love the decorations and the girls look like they are so ready for Santa to get here. Haha....so cute!

Michelle, any update yet about your friend's surgery? Hugs.

Marilyn, I hope that nasty cold and cough leave quickly. Sounds like you could use a good dose of sunshine.

Hi Monica! It's so great when you're back with us on here.

I'm done with my diser Christmas cards and will be mailing them all out tomorrow morning. Start checking for them in your mailboxes this week.

I'm done for the night with the leg routines....I have pumped and clean wrapped.

I'm doing 3 miles on the bike and burning 300 + calories everyday. I'm doing arms on the bike and holding 1 pound water bottles in each hand off the bike.

I set a new goal for my WW weigh in and I'm working on the next 50 pounds coming off. I'm another 2 down today. YEAH!!!

Tomorrow we're cutting down our tree at a local tree farm. I can't wait to use my new tree decorations from Disney. I have to try to remember to bring the camera when going to cut the tree down.

Sunday I'm going to Mrs. Bush's. They are having a family fundraiser for Christmas. They're selling recipe books and foods that they made. Each resident gets their favorite recipes in the book with their picture and then they cook their foods. Everything is for sale and the money goes to an outing for the residents. I love Mrs. Bush. It's a great place. It's the next best thing to home.

I just read the flyer again, they also have Toys for Tots, which Ray already put 2 gifts into, and a Christmas party with a visit from Santa. It should be a lot of fun. I'll probably go with the kid, John will want to stay home. We'll see.

Love the holiday pictures! I'd like to see more of everyone's please.

Just logged onto DCL and we have a cabin! :woohoo: 7042, conveniently located to the front of the ship and Cove Cafe and the pool....where I'll be spending most my time. :thumbsup2

What a work week! BUT, I earned about $100 (take home) in overtime, so that will come in handy. ::yes::

Have to buy a couple of grab bag presents this weekend AND get the house straightened up so the cleaning people can come the following week.

Hug and prayers for those who want them (I've got plenty to go around)
:grouphug:  :grouphug:  :grouphug:  :grouphug:  :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Kathy made it out of surgery ok... she's been moved to ICU for the next couple of days... now the fun begins with recovery...

Thanks all for the prayers and pixie dust...
