I got the call this afternoon - looks like I'm in court tomorrow morning. :(

I'm so p'd as not only have I had to cancel a day out with my girlfriend but I'm also home alone as Richard's flying to South Africa right now which means no one to share with.. I can tell it's going to be a crappy day so I'll make sure my iPod's charged and take a book to read... :sad2:

At least it will be over and not hanging over you like the Sword of Damocles. Horrible though isn't it?

I agree - take a good book.

That true, Marilyn. At least when it's over, it's flippin' over! Well, it'd better be...

I guess the big thing for me is that Richard's away till Wednesday night. He's flying overnight to Jo'burg at the moment, is in their office tomorrow, flies back overnight on Tuesday, is in his London office on Wednesday and not home till that evening.I won't be able to talk to him as he'll be in meetings or on 11 hour flights. Not to mention the fact that it's a worry when he basically doesn't go to bed properly for approximately 70 hours. :faint: Don't mind me - I'm just in a :sad1: place. I'll have a glass of wine and maybe that'll make me feel :flower3: ......

hope the court stuff doesn't take too long.
That's a crazy schedule for Richard!

Good morning from cold BC!
I woke up cold this morning. It was -22c(-8F) outside, and the pilot light on the furnace had gone out, so it had cooled off to 14C (55F) inside, brrr! I got it restarted and the house was heating back up again when I left, so it would have been okay when Ken & the girls got up

Marilyn, Michelle, Kathe - I hope tonight is smoother for you ladies.

At least you have your priorities :lmao::lmao:

I still put the most breakable up high, cause my kids still bump the tree and knock things off the bottom. The girls are super-excited. Kaleigh has been singing Christmas carols for a couple weeks now. They were great helpers to put the tree together, and they helped decorate for a while, then they sat and played with the Rudolph playset while I kept going. It was cute listening to them. :cutie::cutie::goodvibes

I loved Christmases when the kids were little :goodvibes What fun to have all that excitement in the house...of course there were days  Your girls always look so angelic it's hard to believe they would be bumping around the tree :littleangel::littleangel:

:grouphug: Sure wish Richard was there for you, what horrible timing :headache: It will soon be over and behind you though, and of course we are all here for you

let's take a moment of silence for my cancelled EBTA

:sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

I'm not sad about cancelling it really, if we can afford it I'll book at the last minute and Willie and I will go, but I'm really sad about losing that great airfare. I got in on a glitch and we got airfare of <$500 per person for San Jose-Orlando-Barcelona-San Jose. I know I can't get that or anywhere close to that so that's the part I'm bumming over. Oh well, easy come easy go.

Off to find work :thumbsup2

Kaz - sorry about the court stuff, it sounds awful. I think stories like this make it easier to say I saw nothing, than bother to get invovled. Such a shame that the "nice guy" or girl in your case has to pay the price of all this court nonsense

Nan, sorry about your having to cancel the EBTA. That airfare was a fantastic price, but lets hope there are such good deals on the cruise that the extra cost of the new airfare won't seem too bad. and you can rebook.

I can't remember the last time I had a cold this bad. In fact it must be well over a year since I have had a cold of any kind(just a cough once). John is really hoping he doesn't catch it!!!

Having my hair done tomorrow and then out for a Christmas meal with our Church homegroup tomorrow night. Hopefully I won't be coughing and spluttering everywhere. My head is about to burst.

Ah well, could be worse.

Michelle, any news from the Dr??

Thanks Marilyn. I think I'm also sad about maybe not being able to have the travel and alone time with Willie. I hope it will work out. If not this trip he and I will find something to enjoy together within the next year.

Sorry you are feeling so sick. It's never fun to have a cold

Got the Christmas list...thanks Michelle. Just two notes for next year....Cheri spells her name without the "e" at the end and I now have both Word Perfect and MS Word. No need to send separately. I like WP. I use it for all my outgoing correspondence. But I also have Word on my laptop and can accept all Word docs. So we're good.

I had four medical appointments today....two with doctors and two tests. YUCK! All annuals....preventative stuff. One day a year around my birthday I get it over with. Today was that day. I'm glad I'm done. Now I just need to give them some more blood to test and then I'm completely done.

On a last note, where is Kathe on the Christmas List??? I need her info please. Revise again! haha.

Hi Deborah,

I'm fine, just tired after the long day of procedures.

I'll do my Christmas cards this week too. I have not started them yet. We'll do our tree on Saturday this weekend. I'm getting excited now.

It's so hard getting back to regular life after a great trip, especially with best friends and such a good time. It's ok. You'll always have the memories and pictures. Then you can look forward to planning your next fun trip! Hugs.:hug:

hope the court stuff doesn't take too long.
That's a crazy schedule for Richard!
Thank you... It is a crazy schedule for my honey. And he's flying half a day away to tell a bunch of neurotic idiots that they won't get paid what they think they ought as the financial world's not what it was plus they work for a US government-owned bank. It really isn't rocket science...

:grouphug: Sure wish Richard was there for you, what horrible timing :headache: It will soon be over and behind you though, and of course we are all here for you
Thank you, Kathe - so very much appreciated...

Sorry about your EBTA, Nan. I'm crossing my fingers you'll have another trip you can do with Wilson - maybe even this one!!! I let my EBTA ressie lapse a few days ago - just couldn't square it with missing Richard, such a wuss. :sad2: Plus I'm hoping to have another Old English Sheepdog puppy join our happy band in the Spring and I'm going to want to spend time with my doglets...

I know just how you feel Nan because I had to do the same thing. Would you like a hug or a rum?

This is the first year I will not be organizing a toy collection.

For many years I have organized toy collections for what one might call under serviced charities. It has either been for kids in the county hospital (for those of you in civilized countries with national health plans, county hospitals are typically where people who can't afford anything and are desperate go). Or, I have collected toys for women's safe houses, where women who are fleeing domestic abuse go with their kids.

For the first time I have just not had myself organized.

The management of the office building I work in arranged with the Salvation Army to have an angel tree. You know, there are gift tags on the tree with the gender of a child in need, their age and two presents they would like.

So I went to the tree to get a tag. Mind you, I have left it a bit late. I take one tag, go to my desk to go onto Amazon, figuring I'll order online and have it delivered to my office, and then I nearly fell over. The two things the kid wanted added up to about $125! I went back, got another tag, this time it was about $130!

I finally took my iPhone down to the lobby and used my Amazon app. I took a tag for a little boy who seems to have had much more reasonable expectations, and now his toys have been ordered.

Frankly I blame the adults. The tags were all completed by an adult. Why don't they guide the kids to ask for something a bit more reasonable rather than two toys one costing $70 and the second costing $50. If the requests were more reasonable, there's a greater likelihood that they'd have their wish fulfilled.

Sadly it was a DCL flight so in the trash with the cancelled ressie :sad2:

I hear what you're saying and in the big picture this really isn't a big deal. We're all healthy and happy. We'll travel again another day.

WOW a puppy:scared1: Are you crazy???? Just kidding, good news for you (i'm swearing off animals for a while) once we are free of the dog, rabbit and turtle I'm taking a break :rolleyes1

how about a rumhug? sounds kinda Christmassy huh

That's a sad statement about who is running the tree, Ian. But a nice one about you for finding a child that has a reasonable request.

My kids don't even have those kinda prices this year on their lists. Sadly Molly has no list. She is always the one kid that hears and understands what is going on with our family. She won't make a list because she knows we are stressed financially. I love that about her but it also makes me sad that she is wise beyond her years. Of course I've tried really hard this year to be creative and find her a few gifts that are very meaningful. I hope she will like them :flower3: The boy of mine also knows what is going on, but he is too little to really get it I think. He did make his Xmas list, from clipping the ads and pasting them together to form a little booklet. I'll have to save it for him to see when he is grown up. I think he'd like it ;) Fortunately, before Paul left SONY he got a PS3 thru their employee pricing and a slew of software too. Willie will be happy I'm sure. The video games are the whole world to a 9 year old boy :wizard:

WOW a puppy:scared1: Are you crazy???? Just kidding, good news for you (i'm swearing off animals for a while) once we are free of the dog, rabbit and turtle I'm taking a break :rolleyes1
Crazy??? Oh yes, definitely!!! Guilty as charged!! Thing is my canine beauties are getting a little old (OES's only live to around 10 years old and the Sensational Suzy is 8) and I really want them to be around to train up the next generation. Sadly Nan, however much I like the intellectual concept of being dog-free, my heart won't let it happen! :sad2: And when I found out that Suzy's breeder had her super-champion combo mating goin' on... Well, I was putty (or do I mean puppy???) in her hands... ;)

how about a rumhug? sounds kinda Christmassy huh

Bah rumhug!!! I like it!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

But do you have dead mice yet ;)
NO! I had a friend over Saturday afternoon, we were sitting in the living room talking and started hearing something rustling in the kitchen. Every time I went out there, I couldn't find where the sound was coming from. Later when he left, I found out that a mouse was chewing through a plastic grocery bag and had started chewing through a box of pancake mix that I was going to throw away. Tyler and I ran down to the hardware store to get 4 more traps. I put them all back where the mouse was. No luck. I haven't heard or seen anything since, but I've learned that doesn't mean anything. My friend thinks I probably got most of the family and this is just one or 2 leftover from that round of traps because if there were more, I'd be seeing them all over like I was before. I sure hope he's right. :headache:
