MORNING MARILYN... :hippie:

(AND OF COURSE OUR DEBORAH!!! :flower3:)

GOOD AFTERNOON :surfweb::cutie:

I was tidying up my bedroom and sort out make up, jewellery for next week:yay:

Here's the latest installment of my mouse/mice saga. I haven't seen any activity/evidence for quite some time, until last night. Tyler was asleep, I was ready to head to bed soon too. I was relaxing on the couch with one guinea pig stretched out on me. I heard what sounded like paper crinkling. At first I thought it was just the other guinea pig ripping paper in his cage, but I looked over and saw him half asleep, lying down. I listened closer, found out where the sound was coming from, it was coming from underneath a piece of furniture next to the guinea pig cage. I was too freaked out to deal with it, so I ran out to get a packet of poison and tossed it over that way. :rotfl2: This morning, I told Tyler about it, and showed him where the poison packet was. When we came home tonight, the whole packet was GONE! I looked under the piece of furniture where I'd heard the sounds and saw the empty package with all the poison gone. WOOHOO!!! Those suckers are gonna DIE!

Later after Tyler was in bed, I was cleaning the guinea pig cage. As I stood up to get more supplies from the kitchen, I saw a mouse walk (not run like you usually see them do) over to one of Tyler's backpacks and CLIMB INSIDE! I'm not sure how fast the poison works, but since he wasn't moving very quickly, I'm thinking he's on his way out. I did NOT want him to die inside his backpack, so I took the whole thing outside and just dumped it out. :rotfl2: I didn't see the mouse, but it was dark outside, so I'm sure it fell out (probably ran back inside the house, with my luck).

GROSS!!!!!!!!!!! :headache:

wow I enjoyed to read your story....

Deborah, a co-worker told me I should write a blog. Mouse Adventures on Gordon Avenue. :rotfl:

Holly, I'm so glad the rat poisoning is working. At least you know that they'll be all gone soon and you can disinfect and feel better about no more unwanted critters in the house. YEAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! You beat them!!

Ian, Friday can't come soon enough for you. This has been an especially stressed time for you. One week of vacation next week is the best medicine. Enjoy!

Hi Deborah, pack everything and it won't be long now. You'll have so much fun and we'll all meet on your last day and you can tell us all about your trip.

Hi everyone!!! Happy almost Friday.

Hi Kathe!!!

Shopping and food... two of my favorites...

We found a tea place up in Ballston Spa... we're going to try it soon... :goodvibes

Ballston Spa is where Karen lives. I hope you enjoy the tea but it's a good thing that you don't know what she looks like.....you might want to trip her by accident if you see her. hahaha.:laughing:

I LOVE seeing all the birthday wishes by everyone. Thank you all so much.

The celebrating is not over. Me and John have our dinner out on Saturday night. Le Bistro is the restaurant at our local winery. I'm so looking forward to it....just the two of us. Nice!

Well, actually, I think the battle has just begun because I have no idea how many are there. It just makes me so angry. BUT.....there IS a good side to this. The deep cleaning and disinfecting I want to do when they're gone will make my house look so nice and homey. :goodvibes

Send her a picture! :rotfl:

Well, I have to spend my lunch hour going to Walmart to pick up 3 prescriptions because we're too darned busy after work every day!

Good morning all!

I'm so relieved that it's Thursday! This has been an incredibly stressful week and it's not even over yet. All of the people I work with thought that it felt like Friday because the stress has been so bad.

Today we have presentations on benefits, so I'll see what that's like.

On a sad note, my old team is not behaving very well. Inappropriate behavior and shall we say coming across with petulant defiance. I
amazed by it. I'm amazed by the sense of entitlment. These people honstly don't understand that the new owner has abolutely no obligation to give them a job, and that first impressions are important. I'm sad, but oh so relieved that they don't report to me anymore, and it's not my headache to deal with.

I am so looking forward to being off from work next week.

  Things work out for a reason... maybe you were their calming voice... but like you said before... they are pups and unfortunately come from a very entitled (or they think they are...) generation... :sad2:

Excuse me!! Favouritism!!

Work doesn't sound a happy place to be at all at the moment Ian. A week off will do you good.

HEY... I put YOU first... ;)

GOOD NEWS!!!

My nephew Brian got accepted to LSU!!!! It's his first college acceptance but he's not sure if he'll go there or not... he has 8 other schools to hear from...

I found out on FB... So I went and ran and got the phone and called him (semi jokingly yelling...) "YOU GOT INTO COLLEGE AND YOU DIDN"T CALL ME??????" to which I got... "Aunt Shell... go check your voicemail... I called you first..." (I had misplaced my phone last night...) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Good news on the college acceptance! Does it have to be LSU?:scared1:

Will somebody please wake me when it's 5pm so I can go home? I've had absolutely nothing to do since before lunch. I even finished all the filing this morning. BOREDOM!!

:rotfl2: I'm trying to kill him (THEM)! At least we're finally seeing results! :thumbsup2 The saga continues........Later last night, I went to the kitchen for something and saw a back end and tail just slip under the STOVE! So, what did I do? Yup, grabbed another poison packet and threw it in that general direction and stayed out of the kitchen. ;) This morning before we left home, Tyler and I both heard crinkling sounds from under the stove, so that poison is getting eaten up too! AND I found the packet I'd thrown in my bedroom is GONE too! I'm wondering how many of these nasty critters are there. I've live there almost 4 years and NEVER had a single mouse, until our nasty neighbors we had recently. Now I'm wondering where the bodies will turn up. GROSS!!!

I told Tyler we're going to have to pull everything out of the living room, disinfect like crazy, and do the same in all rooms of the house. I'll feel yucky being in the house until then.

I think they will want to find water then crawl away to a dark place and die.
Don't look for them - it will be gross when you find it if you are looking or not just assume it's dead  and gone :thumbsup2

Great news!!!!! and Congrats!!!!

I'm still waiting to hear from my nephew to have him tell me that his son was born (6 weeks old now) I have to say I'm a bit pissed off that he and his wife didn't make any effort to call and tell either myself or my other sister :sad2:

Family strife....

Keep your fingers crossed my job search has fired up in the last few days.

Had an interview yesterday will meet with the CEO Monday, also have a phone interview tomorrow for another job. I'm hoping for the first one to come thru - it's part time consulting (read high hourly rate) and it would be in the same space I'm used to technology :thumbsup2

All the pixie dust and positive thoughts coming your way that you get the one you want pronto. We have more cruising to do....hahaha.

Today was my first day of staying away from the Internet completely while at work. No news, no nothing. I read my personal email on my iPhone during lunch.

We also had our annual benefits enrollment employee sessions today. It was of course different, because of the timing with the acquisition of our company last week.

Essentially we have all been hired en mass at the new company. The goofy thing is our year is a calendar year and their's begins in April. So, come March we will be going through an enrollment process all over again.

They are counting our hire dates at the old company towards our seniority. So that works out well for us.

A change was our 401Ks. We are all vested in our company matching, and we don't lose the matching from our old company, but when we go into the new plan in April, they have a stepped vesting over 5 years. The good thing about them counting my seniority is that I started with the old company in April of 2005, so I have 5 years this coming April.

The benefits are sort of comparable, but the PTO isn't not so much. At our old company I was able to carry over 10 unused days into the new year. For 2010 I can carry forward the 10 unused days I have in my PTO bank, but come 2011, the new rules apply which is a carry over of only 5 days. That's going to cramp my vacation plans a bit.

Another goofy rule that none of us are clear about is that we think we are not allow to accrue more than 10 days in the bank, so when you accrue 10 you have to use them or lose anything over 10. It would mean being forced to take days off based on the accrual rather than when you want to. I suppose they don't want the liability of more than 10 accrued days at a time.

None of us are sure about this rule and are not quite clear.

The other bad thing for me, is that due to the goofiness of my title change back last winter when I went from being a manager to a strategy role, I no longer qualify for a bonus.

Still, I think our executive team did an great job of negotiating and taking care of us when the sale was negotiated. That's the think I'm going to miss the most. Our leadership team had been really decent people and I'm going to really miss that.

It really is what it is, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have a job, and extremely fortunate that I was kept on. That seems to be a mantra for most of us in our office these days.

We're all just a bit exhausted at work and a bit shell-shocked from this week.
