I had a really enjoyable day off work today! Took my mom out for lunch to celebrate her 75th birthday. Lunch was very, very good! They have an afternoon tea there as well, so we've decided we're going back to the same place for tea, sandwiches, scones, etc in January. We spent the afternoon shopping and I can finally say I've started my Christmas shoppingDidn't buy a whole lot (and most of it was for Serenity
) but at least I've started. Dropped my mom off at home and shopped for a couple of more hours, then came home to enjoy a roast beef dinner my son and his girlfriend had cooked!
Thanks everybody, it really helps to hear all different perspectives. That's why I like bringing up things like this. If I were to ask one friend, I'd hear one perspective and would have a hard time being open to other points of view, but when I get to hear a variety of different viewpoints, it helps me try to figure out a way to sort of combine it all into an answer. So thank you all!
Now I feel like I need to apologize to Tyler's dad (and Tyler too). I think I'll just not make a point of bringing it up, but if he mentions that conversation, I'll tell him I spoke before thinking it through. My mouth has a bad habit of getting ahead of my brain.![]()
Here's the latest installment of my mouse/mice saga. I haven't seen any activity/evidence for quite some time, until last night. Tyler was asleep, I was ready to head to bed soon too. I was relaxing on the couch with one guinea pig stretched out on me. I heard what sounded like paper crinkling. At first I thought it was just the other guinea pig ripping paper in his cage, but I looked over and saw him half asleep, lying down. I listened closer, found out where the sound was coming from, it was coming from underneath a piece of furniture next to the guinea pig cage. I was too freaked out to deal with it, so I ran out to get a packet of poison and tossed it over that way. This morning, I told Tyler about it, and showed him where the poison packet was. When we came home tonight, the whole packet was GONE! I looked under the piece of furniture where I'd heard the sounds and saw the empty package with all the poison gone. WOOHOO!!! Those suckers are gonna DIE!
Later after Tyler was in bed, I was cleaning the guinea pig cage. As I stood up to get more supplies from the kitchen, I saw a mouse walk (not run like you usually see them do) over to one of Tyler's backpacks and CLIMB INSIDE!I'm not sure how fast the poison works, but since he wasn't moving very quickly, I'm thinking he's on his way out. I did NOT want him to die inside his backpack, so I took the whole thing outside and just dumped it out.
I didn't see the mouse, but it was dark outside, so I'm sure it fell out (probably ran back inside the house, with my luck).

Oh....one more thing....I hit my first 10 pound goal yesterday! Now that we joined the YMCA, if I can get there 2 or 3 times a week, hopefully that should help the scale keep going in the right direction.

You are always so good about hearing all of us chime in. I admire how you listen to us rattle on at you
And DON'T appologize. I think you did what you thought was right and I think bringing it up again might be worse than just letting it go. If it arrises again I'd address it then. Does Tyler's Dad ever come back and offer you an I'm sorry I don't think so![]()
On a positive note, I ended up taking the day off and am getting caught up on some computer time
On a negative note, I ended up taking the day off to stay home with Shaelyn
Its been a day of cuddling and watching Disney tv. Thankfully her fever seems to be doing better and she was actually attempting to eat, so hopefully tomorrow I'll be back at work.
Now I'm heading back to read everything I've missed![]()
MORNING MARILYN...
(AND OF COURSE OUR DEBORAH!!!)
Good morning all!
I'm so relieved that it's Thursday! This has been an incredibly stressful week and it's not even over yet. All of the people I work with thought that it felt like Friday because the stress has been so bad.
Today we have presentations on benefits, so I'll see what that's like.
On a sad note, my old team is not behaving very well. Inappropriate behavior and shall we say coming across with petulant defiance. I
amazed by it. I'm amazed by the sense of entitlment. These people honstly don't understand that the new owner has abolutely no obligation to give them a job, and that first impressions are important. I'm sad, but oh so relieved that they don't report to me anymore, and it's not my headache to deal with.
I am so looking forward to being off from work next week.
Howdy Shannon! Tyler hasn't gone to karate since I think June. He's burned out and has lost interest. He still likes scouts though....in fact, we're going to a meeting tonight.Holly - sounds like you and Tyler are enjoying the Y. Does Tyler do karate and scouts still? And CONGRATS on reaching your first 10 pound goal!![]()

Well, you know the saying, "Don't ask if you don't want to hear advice", I ask because I DO want to hear from everybody. Sort of like online brainstorming. I love it!

You're exactly right, he doesn't ever apologize. Over and done with though, moving on.
Kill him, kill him, kill him. and don't show us pictures either![]()
