Good Monday All!

I'm still extremely achey from hauling the bags of mulch and stones late on Saturday afternoon. I'm not used to getting my day started at 5PM. I didn't have dinner until nearly 9PM. It threw the whole day off. I also went to bed at nearly 11:30 which then meant I was tired when I got up for work on Sunday. A bad domino effect.

Yesterday afternoon we went to see Harry Potter at the neighborhood movie theatre around the corner. I rather liked it, though I wished I had seen it when I wasn't quite so tired.

But it does make me feel bad for having done nothing all weekend, except turn on the water sprinklers. Oh yeah and I went with Shannon and the girls on Saturday to the farmers market and picked up some nice loaves of bread.

Sunday was gaming day where I did practically nothing but played board games with Shannon and the girls. I think we managed to fit in 8 games yesterday...

Shannon, Shaelyn and I started with Aquaretto:

where I managed to pull out a good win because of my feeders

We then went to a cooperative game - Pandemic:
pic254416_t.jpg

In our first game the Asian epidemic beat us rather quickly. In our second game it was looking pretty bleak with several outbreaks but we managed to get the job done and save the world.

Then Kaleigh wanted to play one of her games so Shaelyn and I got into it with her by playing "Littlest Pet Shop"
pic105696_t.jpg

Kaleigh got the first win and then Shaelyn squeaked out the second one. I was never really close in either game.

Then Shannon and I decided to sit down and learn a game we've had for awhile but never got around to playing - Camelot Legends
pic46690_t.jpg

I thought I had a good lead build up and managed to make Arthur the High King, but Shannon and Lancelot came along and stole that title and with it the victory of the game.
The second game however, I learned from her treachery and stole it from her and gave it to Sir Lionel and managed a runaway victory.

To end the evening Shaelyn wanted to play again so we decided to help the Pirates with their escape and played Cartagena II.
pic252156_t.jpg

The scurvy dog pirates Shannon and Shaelyn tried their best to prevent me and my mateys from making it to the hideout, but in the end the cards weren't with them and they went down to visit Davey Jones...

Then the girls went to bed and Shannon and I watched "Burn after Reading" and were not impressed. :sad2:

But I think today I am going to pay for the lazy days. Got LOTS of chores that need to be done today.

Just not right now ...

Sounds like a great day. I LOVE board games. One of my most cherished possessions is a copy of "Stop Thief!" a very early electronic board game from 1979. I lost a copy of it in a breakup, and managed to track down a copy of it a few years ago. I love that game.

Apparently you weren't the only one to really like that game. In 1980 it was a Spiel Des Jahres recommendation (Spiel Des Jahres is a "Game of the Year" award decided annually by a jury of German game critics).
I even see that it is selling on e-bay for $80.00 (USD)!!!

it's not any honeymoon yet...they are still peeved as am I. We have yet to broker our peace. I'm hoping next week will aide in that process:thumbsup2

Should we send in mediation? Perhaps Bubba isn't busy? NO... make that V... she's got a softer heart...

Ken, the games sound fun. Do you and Shannon play against yourselves and that is enough to make them interesting for you? I've always wanted to play with 3 or more to get a board game going.

Hmmmmmm, Paul and I loved "Burn after Reading" it was such a farce, one had to suspend belief and just ride with it ;) loved how ridiculous Brad Pitt was :woohoo: What didn't you enjoy in it?

So are Gaylean, Jon and the kids coming camping up with you?

Most of our gaming is done between the two of us. We have another couple that we meet with on Saturday nights to play a board game or two. I also play with my sister and her fiance fairly regularly during the week when I stay in Prince George. I've also just met some other people in Prince George that I play with.

But for the most part it is just the two of us so we like to get games that work well for 2. And of course, Shaelyn is starting to get into them more and more so we can avoid games like Monopoly and Candy Lane and into the more "developed" games like I posted above.

"Burn After Reading" just didn't sit with us. Not sure what it was, but when it ended we just kind of sat there and said "that's it?". Not sure what it was. Maybe just the wrong mood for that movie.

As for camping with Jon and Gaylean. Nope. They had bow out due to work issues. So instead we are going camping this weekend with Shannon's parents. We will head out Friday and be back Monday. Gotta figure out which board games to take with us for that.

Hey, don't forget all the other healthy food we bought too (apricots, blueberries, spinach, snowpeas, orange beets, cilantro, and cauliflower:thumbsup2). But really the bread is the best ::yes::

Hi Nan - glad to hear that you are sticking up for yourself at home :thumbsup2

Jon couldn't get his holidays so we had to cancel for this year :sad2:, maybe next year it'll work out. :goodvibes

Brad Pitt's character was the best part of the movie, but overall I thought it took too long to get going, and then it just ended with a whimper.

::yes::, Ken and I play games with just us, plus we are friends with another gamer-couple and try to get together on weekends for a gaming night. A lot of it depends on the game. Carcassone is great with 2-players with lots of "screw-you" opportunities if you like that sort of thing ;)

Sounds like next cruise, we should have a game night/day :goodvibes Last cruise we actually sat up by the kids pool on day and played Carcassone while the girls were playing in the pool.:thumbsup2

:sad2: Now lunch time is over, and I must get back to work. But before I go, here a big HELLO to everybody!

I actually have 2 of them, though I did not pay anywhere near $80 for it. I might have gotten them about 10+ years ago. I think I paid $20 for one and found the other (complete, in working order with all the parts) in a thrift store for about $3.

It's a wonderful game. The thief is invisible an moves around the board. You have to track him down and arrest him. The electronic thing gives you sound clues as to the type of surface he is walking on, or what he's doing (like breaking a store window). The thief can only move in a defined pattern (I think diagonal squares). The cool thing is that he could disappear into a subway and come out at any of the other 4 exits.

::yes:: I'm looking for a tough guy for sure:mad:

too much good food, give me some french fries and donuts :woohoo: just kidding, I think it's fish on the grill for dinner tonight :thumbsup2 and that means grilled veggies too :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Too bad they can't make it camping. Work can be a pain.

::yes:: We are gamers too...Paul and I met and ended up with a first date based on the outcome of a thumb wrestling match. And a bit of liars dice thrown in the middle for fun ;)

1. I think V would let Nan keep her bathroom... Molly would get visitation on special occasions - but must clean up after herself in order to gain Nan's bathroom priviledges again.

2. Will and Paul can keep their bathroom - it will be pad locked when ever company comes to visit.

3. All will agree to do their own laundry and NOT complain when their socks are pink...

4. The Queen will be permitted large quantities of Rum when the above is violated...
