Deb:

Congrats on getting your meeting and the good news is that they will pay.

I think they are trying to scare you with all the fraud talk. Don't let them, that is just plain nonsense in this case.

Just keep all receipts and make sure you get receipts for EVERYTHING for him. Stick it all in one place, envelope, box whatever. Then if you really need to show them you'll have it. The chances are they will never really ask you to produce the records once you are in the system.

This might be a little different from most situtations since you are not a natural child, but an adult step-child thru marriage, who knows.

Glad you found a resource for this, it still makes me :sad2: that Ray's child(ren) aren't taking care of this on his behalf. You are making your mama proud she raised such a caring daughter

Hey thanks Nan. I really don't care what they require....I will comply.....as long as it gets them to keep sending checks.

You are SO right about this being a testament to the way my mama raised me. She did a great job.

So do you.....how was the first day of school???

Well, mom and I went walking tonight... trying to keep the old girl healthy...

have decided to skip the track until next week... It's the Travers this week (Saratoga's version of the Kentucky Derby) and after the crowds I encountered last night... I don't want to go near the place...

Thanks to everyone who has friended the little green furry butt on FB... he is forever grateful and it's now official... I DO have a split personality... :lmao:

Good for you and mom Michelle. You're doing so good keeping it up. You'll be in great shape in no time.

YEAH!!!

Yea, it took long enough....I don't care what he said.

I'll have to remember that....I may need him to come to my rescue yet!

Mr Planky, Esq is rather cheap... you could keep him on retainer...

Good for you and mom Michelle. You're doing so good keeping it up. You'll be in great shape in no time.

Thanks Deb... I figure at this rate I'll be in shape by the year 2023... :rotfl2:

So cool seeing those pics of the Keel laying ceremony....I might have to join Twitter just to get the news :rotfl:

I have loved all the pics everyone else has posted....sorry I've been "missing" quite a bit lately....I have trouble alot at work w/ the DIS.

Deb - good luck w/ the meeting today....post how it went please

Hope all the kiddos started out the year well :cutie:

NOthing to update here....everyone is doing well (Dad included) so am Thankful & grateful.

Hi Monica, so glad to hear your dad is doing well

...Just got back. I was there all morning. It's a lot of information and requirements and procedures and MORE PAPERWORK, but we're nearing the end of the tunnel. A check should be in the mail sometime in October....so he says. Well we're definitely able to see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

The first thing he said to me was, "So you wrote a letter to the Congressman?" I said YES I did....it's been five months getting this meeting scheduled. He said, "That's all? Most people wait over a year." I said, There was no way I could have waited that long. I'm going broke. Then we proceeded to dissect every penny of Ray's expenses and how much he pays and how much I pay....and how we will handle Ray's money in the future that he gets from them. If I spend so much as a cent without accounting to them for it, it's fraud and they will bring me up on criminal charges. Any expenses for Ray over $500 they will have to approve. You would think that they were footing the whole bill. I payout over $3k a month for him. They are going to be paying half....but they get to control everything. Whatever, as long as I don't have to pay.

Now I have to start the paperwork trail to prove everything I just told them. Then continue keeping accurate records and receipts or I'm going to jail. They're serious. He stressed it many times and gave me an example of a woman they are charging now with fraud because she does not have receipts for her expenses.

Now I've got to go pay my household bills and then I can start on the countless amounts of paperwork that the VA is expecting to receive from me immediately.

I'll catch up with you all later.

Thanks for ALL of your help Shell....drinks onboard if you hit paydirt on time! Otherwise, we'll have to plan a roundezvous at Mickey's house sometime soon.

Monica, SO glad Dad is good. Happy you joined twitter. Click on who I'm following and get a list. I have lots of Mickey tweets and some Disers that I follow. You can just click on an icon to follow them also as you scroll down the page. Have fun with it. :thumbsup2

Everyone else....Hi....be back real soon.

Deb, sounds like an awful lot of paperwork, but I know you're relieved to finally be getting some much deserved help :thumbsup2

Nan... tell him Shell said to run carefully and not to knock anyone out with his cast... ;)

ya, no. He can't go out for recess to even watch it from afar for another week. Just wanna make sure it doesn't get moved so he can heal and drive again soon :thumbsup2

I'm still shopping for clothes for the Sept 12 cruise...but no luck :sad2:

I did find a few items for the EBTA today though. Bought a nice warm fleece jacket and a bright red denim jacket, I want the rescuers to be able to see me if I get swept off board by stormy seas :scared1: Hopefully the sharks don't like red

Here's a couple of happy girls wearing fake nails designed for little girls:

And now a bunch of photos from our daytrip to Barkerville (gold rush town!)
Kaleigh with school teacher in Barkerville. Both girls went to the school session and had fun sitting in the class and writing on the chalkboard.

Hope we can all sail on it together.:grouphug:

ME TOO!!! :cool1:

Deb, great news on the VA appointment, at least things are moving now. Just be sure to make a copy of your receipts whenever they ask for them because I've learned at work that government offices are famous for "losing" things.

Thanks Shell, we do great work together. He definitely did NOT like me contacting the congressman, but it worked. My check will be here before others even get their appointments. What a system.
Yeah, and that was crappy when he said it takes most people a year to get their appointment. You'd think he'd NOT want to admit that their system is so screwed up. That's just unacceptable!

Monica, I'm glad to hear your dad is doing well, that's great news! :thumbsup2
