OK, you all might think I'm crazy, but I've had a change of heart about Tyler going to camp. I've been thinking about it a lot and I had a long talk with Tyler about it over dinner. I just started by asking him if he's sure he wants to try camp, we talked about his first attempt at an overnight (on the PC cruise) when he got kicked out around 1am, talked about his reaction to unfamiliar situations and chaos and stress, etc., talked about how he usually reacts when in those situations, and also the possibility of him being asked to leave if he gets out of control and too aggressive. I reminded him how sad he was when he was kicked out of the overnight on the cruise. He assures me he wouldn't let him bother him too much because he would know he can just try again next year. He seems pretty confident he can make it, and is fully aware of his issues and behaviors.

But here's the important part.....a part I somehow had forgotten about before, or maybe was too focused on not wanting him to go, I don't know, but Tyler asked me if he could try the THREE DAY camp the first time. I'd totally forgotten about that option! So I agreed and told him I'd tell his dad tomorrow. It's 6/25-7/1.

Am I crazy for letting him do this? No matter what happens, its only 3 days, so if things go badly, he doesn't have to go again. And if he loves it and does well, I'll let him go for 1 week next year and 2 the following IF he wants to.

I hate that his dad will feel a sense of victory. ;) But Tyler's ecstatic, so that's all that matters.

Not that my vote is worth much, but I vote NO. Sorry, but I think the special needs camp would be way more his speed. Of course hes gonna say that he can handle it, he wants to go! But what about the kid or kids who may have their camp experiance ruined if he indeed has a serious meltdown. Just not fair to them or Tyler. I think you may be agreeing to set him up for a bad fall. Especially with his recent behavior at school, don't you think a bit more "expert" and one on one supervision is necessary? I'm just sayin'.....

How fun Kathe...when you do fly out?

Not until May 11  But I got excited when the tag arrived and came here to post! As soon as I posted I looked at the clock and realized I had 25 minutes to get to work. I really lost track of the time today. I moved fast, made it to work with 5 min to spare!

I just know that you booked your dates just to avoid us. You and Monica are probably in cahoots! Although, she's supposedly going on a "Baltic cruise" just to avoid us!

Yes,might as well come clean. Monica and I are in cahoots :stir:Funny though, she's starting to talk about staying longer before coming home after her cruise...you don't think she's preparing to dump me too do you

Photo of the Day

Of all people Richard Simmons was in the train station under our office building this morning. It was a promotion for a new Oceanspray juice drink.

And so ... here I am with a co-worker and Richard Simmons.

(Oh, Richard Simmons is the one in the middle.)

Back from the doctor and guess what.....I had a MARTINI at lunch! I never drink during the day except on vacation. Reminded me of the olden days in advertising when we very often had the 'two martini lunch'. Although mine was a margarita, or going WAY back in time, a vodka gimlet. Now...I just might need a nap. :lmao:

Speaking of drinking your lunch....I just recalled my first exposure to cocktails with lunch. I was young (ermmm...possibly even underage) and my boss took me out for turtle soup. It became one of our favorite lunches, a vodka gimlet for me, perfect Manhattan for him, a basket of rolls and turtle soup with sherry sprinkled in. I think he had discovered that my typing IMPROVED after a cocktail. :thumbsup2 The Epicurean restaurant in downtown Chicago...wonder if it's still there?

.

Sounds like you had a great day Jackie :thumbsup2 I discovered on our cruise at the martini tasting that I don't like them, I'd rather have the margarita. I think they have opened a new margarita bar at DD?? I will definately be checking it out in May :woohoo:

Sorry, Holly, I have to agree with Bubba. If this camp isn't prepared for Tyler's needs, it could end up badly. If Tyler doesn't make it through the day in his school classroom, how can he make it through 3 days at a camp full of strangers.

:lmao: Thanks Bubba  I tried to get a ticket for the margarita tasting on our cruise but couldn't get a spot. I'm hoping my daughter and I can do this in Sept.

Have done this twice, and it was good for the novice tequila drinker. On the repo it was presented by a lady that actually worked for, I think, Don Julio Tequila. She wasnt as knowledgeable as I would have thought. She was very scripted and couldnt answer a couple of my more indepth questions. But it is worth the price of the ticket. The strawberry marg was pretty tasty!

I met her at breakfast one morning Bubba, a really nice young woman, I was seated beside her. But....didn't do me any good, I still couldn't get a ticket  While I enjoy my margaritas, I am definately a novice tequila drinker. I'll just have to keep experimenting ;)

I have to say goodnight, I'm very tired, and have to pick up my mom in 9 hrs for lunch! I've cancelled the last 2 weeks because of my back pain, so I don't want to let her down again.I am also going out for dinner to celebrate a good friend's 45th birthday! Have a good night/day everyone :goodvibes

She was very nice, and very cute too! You will enjoy the tasting. On our first cruise, a crew member actually gave the tasting. It was kinda humorous. That strawberry margarita was VERY good, as the bartender had his own version that he served. Cant remember how he made it, but it was very tasty. And yes, keep experimenting, thats the fun part!:thumbsup2

I love it Ken! I see we listen to the same music...the country songs, not the stuff the girls were singing at the end.

Stuff the girls were singing at the end: High School Musical... Probably not Tyler's cup of tea. :lmao:

Hmmmm very interesting...

We can fly to Cabo San Lucas, Lake Tahoe or Chicago from Prince George for the same points for a 4 day weekend (Thurs - Tues).

Hey Shannon, which do you want to choose?
