That does look pretty cool. Especially the submersion factor.

If you look it up on Amazon.com, there's a video clip of a woman supposedly using it underwater. Not sure if it's real, but I'll find out this summer! I can't wait to try it at our local water park. :goodvibes

OK, I've got to get moving. Time to shower and get ready to go, have to stop over at Tyler's friend's house to see if she and her mom can come over tonight, go pick up the movie and a few groceries, drop off some books at the library, and pick up Tyler. :thumbsup2 Catch you all later!

TMI

I have cramps for the first time in my life and if women really feel like this every month I feel really sorry for them.

G...

Take some ibuprophen and put heat on it... (especially your back) And rest..

And thank God that as of now... you don't have hot flashes to go along with it...

Ian, this is the one I got: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9064424&type=product&id=1218014502157

I hear you on the sales tax. Of course, ours isn't as high as yours, we're only at 6%, but it's still nice to order online and avoid it. It all adds up! :thumbsup2

Our is up to 10.25% in the city, though that is not as bad as most of Canada or VAT in Europe where I believe it might be around 17% now.

So, every time I order online, it's like getting an automatic 10.25% discount.

That seemed like a pretty good video camera. I'll be interested in your thoughts once you've played around with it.

Oh, and by the way, I paid $105 less for mine! It's from Amazon's warehouse discounts (or whatever it's called) which usually just means the box was damaged or the product has been opened and then resealed, or could have some cosmetic damage. It's a bit of a risk, but for the difference in price, I was willing, especially after reading tons and tons of reviews from people who bought that way saying that their item was perfectly fine. So, I'm pretty comfortable with the choice. I guess I'll find out soon enough!

I didn't realize that Amazon had warehouse discounts. I just looked, and the price is really good.

Here in BC we have a Provincial Sales tax that is sitting at 7% and we have a national Goods and Services Tax that is at 5% for a total of 12% sales tax added to prices of certain items. There is a real mix of what is taxable and what isn't that gets a little confusing at times, but it is also the main reason why we Canadians tend to worry a lot about Duty when ordering things from the US (or at least I do).

But an example of pricing is that video camera Holly was looking at. On Amazon.com I found it for $199.95 USD. It isn't even available on the Amazon.ca website (our Amazon really sucks as it ONLY seems to sell books and they aren't that great of a price for an online retailer). I did find it on the Costco.ca website and the price there was $369.99 CDN.

To do the dollar conversion, the Amazon.com price came in at $257.00 CDN (compared to $369.99 CDN at Costco) and the Costco.ca price worked out to $287.66 USD. Plus I would still have to add 5% GST to the Costco price (generally if it is out of Province sale you don't have to add the Provincial sales tax), in addition to the shipping which is also subject to taxes.

Free health care doesn't come cheap .... ;)

Ken - you always have an address in the US to ship to. :)

The warehouse price on that camera is even lower, $149 which makes it really not bad for a waterproof, little toss around video camera. That's why I'd be interested in what the final quality of the videos are like.

Our heat is off too. It's 40F out but rather warm in the house. It is supposed to get up to about 65F by Wednesday.

Crappy day today though, very heavy rains.

I'm glad to be back inside.

Heat is on...crappy day...raining off and on all day...glad to be back home, malls were crazy busy :scared1:

Hi Kathe!!! :yay:

I've been trying to guilt Monica into giving up the Baltic this year... it's not working...

Hi Michelle :goodvibes
I don't want to guilt Monica, I wish I could JOIN her!

Hi Kathe, nice to see you here :flower3: OPening nigh was great. She is really enjoying having a line in this show and has the cutest voice as Granny, all squeekie and high. Hopefully one of these days Paul will down load his video and I can share it. I've gotta learn how to post on youtube.

The next show has been announced...Once upon this Island off to check out the youtube clips on it. Both Molly and Willie will be in it and Paul and I will have 6 weeks of nights to ourselves....:lovestruc

Glad all went well:thumbsup2 Nice for all of you to have another show to look forward too ;)

Me and John are just chilling today too. We both have little tummy bugs. It's just enought to know it's not right but it's not really bad.

I'm supposed to soak the legs today but NO WAY. The epsom salt makes them sting and the right one is already acting up after yesterday. The pain is tolerable so no drugs but it's borderline extreme. It it gets worse I will have to go take the vicodin again. I'm trying to hold off.

Either way, I'm not feeling all that good today. I'll have to nap soon and see if it makes me feel better.....gotta get flat anyway.

Deb and John, feel better soon

We have 8% provincial tax plus 5% gst on most things :sad2:

Oh I am quite aware of that and if I want something badly enough I will use the numerous offers we have had. Still, take a look at delivery prices to Canada as well. USPS is bad and UPS is outrageous. However, sometimes the price difference is more than worth the shipping costs.

I too am curious about the camera and the quality. If the video clip they showed was created with the camera, that's not too bad. I'd like to see a few of the underwater pics, however. Be nice to have an underwater camera/vid cam for when we take the girls swimming and if the quality isn't too bad it would be a nice camera to take with me kayaking and not have to worry about wrecking my good cameras.

Just took a peek outside, still pouring, but the last little mound of snow(ice) is gone :thumbsup2

I was hunting for clothes for me at the mall, bought myself nothing!! But I did find some new spring clothes for Serenity and a really, really cute bunny to give her for Easter:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes It plays music, 'Gotta Hop" and it's head bounces around and ears fly up and down, I'm going to wear out the batteries before I have a chance to give it to her  I found it at the Hallmark store!

The USPS postage costs to Canada have always amazed me. You would think it's going to the other end of the earth. Bizarre that a package sent from Detroit to Windsor would cost more than one sent from NY to LA.

Monica, I'm looking forward to reading this later today:thumbsup2 I'm only allowing myself a few minutes to read here this morning, I must get some things around the house done today, so this will be my reward later on!

Kathe

Monica, you did not disappoint! Great blog. Loved reading about your trip to Italy :thumbsup2 The Mecenate Palace Hotel in Rome and the Grand Hotel in Florence both look amazing! You have seen so many amazing sights, and now have the Baltic to look forward too!

Ohhh Deb... take it easy today - both of you... we want you feeling as good as possible really soon...

I think the nap may win out....we'll see after I take the stuff out of the dryer, put stuff in the dryer, and a new load in the washer.

So how was the nap???

That does look pretty cool. Especially the submersion factor.

Taking videos while washing dishes???

You bought the important stuff... I bought an easter bunny/bear (a bear in a bunny costume...) it's tiny, but she's getting me in the mood... I call her sunshine... :)

Is that on an airplane or by envelope???

Yikes, guess we're in for a thunderstorm too! Maybe I should check and see what the latest weather report is :sad2:

Chance of thunderstorms and 2 degrees C

At least tomorrow is supposed to be sunny although high will be just 6C. I won't be going anywhere near any stores tomorrow, but I do hope to bundle up and go for a nice hike :thumbsup2

No snow... we can only dream ...

It keeps giving us little bouts of flurries. It snows like mad for a bit then stops, then more snow, then stops...:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Just go away
