No snow... we can only dream ...

It keeps giving us little bouts of flurries. It snows like mad for a bit then stops, then more snow, then stops...:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Just go away

Sorry Ken! Of course, I know we haven't seen the last of that white stuff yet! But it is nice to see the lawn briefly, but oh my! What a mess I see. Garbage from people throwing things away :headache: and also from the wind blowing garbage from everywhere. We had so much ice and snow piled up, that I don't know if some of my plants and bushes will survive or not :confused3 Guess we'll see this spring.

Kathe

I'm BACK!!!

I had a great nap & just finished watching "Seven Pounds". Didn't expect what that movie gave. Good though.

Will see Benjamin Buttons tomorrow.

Our is up to 10.25% in the city, though that is not as bad as most of Canada or VAT in Europe where I believe it might be around 17% now.

So, every time I order online, it's like getting an automatic 10.25% discount.

That seemed like a pretty good video camera. I'll be interested in your thoughts once you've played around with it.

Oh, I'll definitely let you know. Think of how many pictures I usually post now, I'm sure I'll be posting links to lots of uploaded video too! ;)

Your tax stinks. I'd be ordering everything online too. :sad2:

I didn't realize that Amazon had warehouse discounts. I just looked, and the price is really good.
I didn't realize it either, until I clicked on the lower price for the camera just to see what was there. I was a bit hesitant, but the info says they give a full refund if things don't work, so that makes me feel better. :thumbsup2 It's an unbelievable price, compared to other video cams I looked at with similar features.

Here in BC we have a Provincial Sales tax that is sitting at 7% and we have a national Goods and Services Tax that is at 5% for a total of 12% sales tax added to prices of certain items. There is a real mix of what is taxable and what isn't that gets a little confusing at times, but it is also the main reason why we Canadians tend to worry a lot about Duty when ordering things from the US (or at least I do).

But an example of pricing is that video camera Holly was looking at. On Amazon.com I found it for $199.95 USD. It isn't even available on the Amazon.ca website (our Amazon really sucks as it ONLY seems to sell books and they aren't that great of a price for an online retailer). I did find it on the Costco.ca website and the price there was $369.99 CDN.

To do the dollar conversion, the Amazon.com price came in at $257.00 CDN (compared to $369.99 CDN at Costco) and the Costco.ca price worked out to $287.66 USD. Plus I would still have to add 5% GST to the Costco price (generally if it is out of Province sale you don't have to add the Provincial sales tax), in addition to the shipping which is also subject to taxes.

Free health care doesn't come cheap .... ;)
That's way too confusing! :scared1:

Ken - you always have an address in the US to ship to. :)

The warehouse price on that camera is even lower, $149 which makes it really not bad for a waterproof, little toss around video camera. That's why I'd be interested in what the final quality of the videos are like.

Oh, you know I'll be posting links to videos! ;) Amazon's estimated delivery date is the 13th, but I know it will arrive on Monday. The UPS tracking site says it left Kentucky today, meaning it probably went from the UPS box to the hub in Louisville. It probably didn't make it onto tonight's flight from Louisville to Lansing, but will surely be on the one arriving around 4am Monday in Lansing, which means it will get taken from the airport to the the processing facility where it will get put on the delivery truck around 7am and will make its way to me at work sometime before lunch. :rotfl2: Sorry, just reliving my years working at the airport here for UPS. Louisville, KY is one of the main hubs we get a 747 UPS plane from. :thumbsup2 I sure miss standing out on the tarmac with my lighted wands, marshalling that big plane in. It's an awesome sight watching one of those planes move toward you. :goodvibes

Oh I am quite aware of that and if I want something badly enough I will use the numerous offers we have had. Still, take a look at delivery prices to Canada as well. USPS is bad and UPS is outrageous. However, sometimes the price difference is more than worth the shipping costs.

I too am curious about the camera and the quality. If the video clip they showed was created with the camera, that's not too bad. I'd like to see a few of the underwater pics, however. Be nice to have an underwater camera/vid cam for when we take the girls swimming and if the quality isn't too bad it would be a nice camera to take with me kayaking and not have to worry about wrecking my good cameras.

I'll be sure to share! :thumbsup2

Just took a peek outside, still pouring, but the last little mound of snow(ice) is gone :thumbsup2

I was hunting for clothes for me at the mall, bought myself nothing!! But I did find some new spring clothes for Serenity and a really, really cute bunny to give her for Easter:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes It plays music, 'Gotta Hop" and it's head bounces around and ears fly up and down, I'm going to wear out the batteries before I have a chance to give it to her  I found it at the Hallmark store!

Kathe

Kathe, the bunny sounds cute! It will surely make Serenity smile! :goodvibes

Well, our plans didn't quite work out, but we still had fun. When I went over to Tyler's friend's house to ask them to come over, they weren't there, so I left a note on their door. Then I tried a couple places to rent Beverly Hills Chihuahua and all copies are gone. So I ended up renting Space Buddies and Madagascar 2. When Tyler and I got home, I ordered pizza online from Dominos. Cheese pizza for Tyler, spicy Hawaiian pizza for me, hot wings for me, cheesy bread and cinnasticks. We have a TON of leftovers (which was my plan), it was super yummy, and we watched Space Buddies (very cute). Then I read Tyler's email to him from Bethany and typed back what he wanted to respond, then I read him the first 5 chapters of Creepy Condors of California, and he was asleep before I closed the book. :thumbsup2

Kaleigh hasn't seen Madagascar 2 yet but she loves the song "I like to move it". She knows most of the words and it really gets her bouncing. It was so funny I actually made it the first song I ever downloaded from iTunes. Now to think, do I need an iPod or an iTouch??

Yikes, guess we're in for a thunderstorm too! Maybe I should check and see what the latest weather report is :sad2:

Kathe

I thought I heard rumblings outside...

Ahhhh  Hi Michelle!

Kathe

I still have snow in my back yard... do I get to stay in the club???

I had a great nap & just finished watching "Seven Pounds". Didn't expect what that movie gave. Good though.

I knew the nap would win out!!! :woohoo:

I was thinking of in the shower, but to each their own... :lmao:

Oh Michelle, you know I'm goofy enough to try that! :rotfl2:

With KEN????

I'm always asleep before chapter 4...

Amazon has great customer support. I've never had a problem with them.

For those of you with kids, I came across a great website recently. Tyler's new teachers have been e-mailing back and forth with his old teachers for him, so that made him interested in e-mailing, and he's been asking me at home to send e-mails to Bethany for him, and then he told me he wished he had his own e-mail address. My first thought was, "What's the point of him having his own when I'd still need to read the emails to him and type what he emails back". But then I just figured it would just be fun for him to have one of his own.

I googled email for kids and found lots, but the one I went with is with www.zilladog.com. It's a cool site because it's geared towards kids aged 6-13 and on the main page it has links to a bunch of sites kids would love: Disney, Webkins, Club Penguin, Willy Wonka, Pokemon, etc. And for the email, the parents set it up and you can have it set so that you have to approve every e-mail that comes in, or you can put certain e-mails on his buddy list so you don't have to approve them first. It's cool, check it out if you have kids! :thumbsup2

Well, I guess I'll go change all my clocks before I forget. :thumbsup2 I don't want to be an hour late for church in the morning because I think my girl scout cookies should be in! :goodvibes

To heck with kids!!! It has an etch-a-Sketch on it!!! :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

Not the best reason to want to go to church :lmao:

I changed the one in my bed room earlier when I went & made my bed up w/ fresh linens. I don't want to change the ones out in the living room yet - I'll get too confused.

Spain report is missing Madrid pics only - really must say that I can't wait for that to be finished....but I think it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Then I'll look for the Australia (2004) & Ireland (2006) ones to type out this week. There isn't anything for 2005 as that year I spent 1 month in Argentina helping Mom take care of Dad after his heart surgery.
