Not me! We used to go somewhere different in Ontario to camp (in a tent) every summer when my kids were young. I had to shake out everyone's sleeping bag every night just to make sure no snakes were hiding in them :scared: And of course, it was always me who would have the "close encounters" on the trails we would hike :headache:

You actually went camping??? My idea of camping is a 2 star hotel - I am SOOOO NOT an outdoors person!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Monica, back then, it was camping or staying home! We didn't have a lot of money so it was an economical vacation. And it most definately was better than spending the whole summer at home with two bored kids ;) I really am not a "camper" by nature. Hate, hate, hate the washrooms and showers :scared:  But it was a great way to see some of Ontario. Our province is pretty large and there are so many places to see and things to do. There is nothing better than sitting out at a campfire and seeing all of the bright stars in the sky in the middle of the night away from the bright lights of the city. Of course, there is no way my back would survive a night sleeping on an air mattress now! But we really did have some great experiences. And it was a holiday for me. I did most of the housework at home, and all of the packing and preparing for these trips, but since I was not an "outdoorsy type" my husband put up the tent, made the fire and did all of the cooking while camping ;) :thumbsup2 I just had to shake out the sleeping bags each night, you know, in case of snakes :lmao:

Well, I have really missed you all! Glad I had a chance to chat with you Holly and Monica  Of course, I've been so busy chatting that I still haven't had a chance to read and get caught up here! There are threads for three other cruises I'm on that I've been neglecting completely :guilty:

My last load of laundry is finished and I need to be up in 7 hrs so I'm off to bed now. Good night all!

Kathe

Kathe - good to see you too - you've been missed

Don't be a stranger & we can fill you in on all the BIG stuff

I'm probably going to be signing off soon too - need to power everything down so that I'm ready for bed once the show is finished.

BTW - Holly - GO TO BED!!!

Holly, when are you going? For how many nights? I'm glad you are able to make this happen :goodvibes :cool1:

Kathe

June 6, for a week. And I'm going to tell Tyler when he comes home on Saturday! :dance3:I'm so excited, I want him to be excited too! He knows we just can't afford a cruise this year, and I know he'll be just as excited about Disney! He remembers a few things from when my dad treated the whole family a week after Tyler turned 3 and talks about wanting to see those things again. His very first roller coaster ever was Goofy's barnstormer ride (if that's even what it's called). :thumbsup2 He remembers that and walking through Mickey's house. Not much else.

Goodnight Kathe! Sorry, I see you left long ago. I got distracted on ebay. Didn't buy anything, just looking a lots of stuff just for the fun of looking. :thumbsup2

Thanks Monica! :rotfl2:You should have told me that a couple hours ago! :rotfl: Once again, my plan on going to bed early just didn't work out. ;)

The weather guys have been talking for 3 days now about this storm that's supposed to hit us here on Saturday. Usually when they talk about a storm for so many days in advance, it ends up being a whopper. I hope so because then I can take Tyler sledding Sunday! I've been wanting to go again.

OK, heading to bed now. Goodnight all! :cloud9:

Thanks for relaying Micheles message Ian. And since she or no one else is around.............

Good Morning Marilyn and Debra!!!

popping in again to get caught up.
:grouphug: for everybody that needs them!
Happy thoughts out to Michelle whereever she is.

We had a nice birthday dinner for Kaleigh tonight. My little baby is a big 4 yrs old now. She's having a birthday party on Sunday. This is the first year where she's invited kids (every other year has been family only). I'll make her cake for the party, and tonight we had the little cake she picked at the store - carrot cake!

Now I must go to bed since I'm supposed to go into work 2 hours early so I can leave early so Ken & I can get to a dinner event.

Great pictures, Ian. Izod shirt, very spiffy. And of course, those high-top shoes...wowzer!:goodvibes

Hi everyone.

Mom came back last Thursday and I have not had a spare minute to myself.....

Oh Lisa, my heart goes out to you! My situation with my mom was somewhere between yours and Nan's. But what finally happened with my mom was that she fell, broke her pelvis and after that she had to admit that she was just physically unable to go back home (after several weeks in the hospital and rehab hospital). After that, she was very cooperative as far as moving to assisted living but she never liked it; in fact she ended up moving twice (3 different places, 2 of them the finest ones in Scottsdale, didn't matter, she was never happy). It was a heartache for me to see her not be able to adjust and find peace with her situation but the day she moved out of her townhouse and gave up her car (still driving even though legally blind from macular degeneration!) I felt a HUGE burden lifted off of me (my siblings as well). I will hold you and your family in prayer as you find your way through this trying time.

Thank you!!! Very cool! Even your brothers "high waters".:rotfl2:

That's funny! I hadn't even noticed that. He was about 16 then, and suddenly went from a chubby little kid to a tall, gangly teenager overnight, it seemed.

Holly - that's GREAT!!! :cool1: :cool1:

BTW - the dreaded DVD came in last night - not sure if I'll try it tonight (as it's Grey's & Private Practice night) but will definately attempt it this weekend. :lmao:

That crossover thing has been great! I missed tonight's but have it recorded.

Michelle sent me an email. She wants everyone to know that she will be off-line for a few days. She is driving out of town to deal with a sudden family emergency that she must tend to.

No need for drama. She's OK. Barb's OK. Just something Michelle must tend to.

If you're in touch with her, give her my regards please!

Hi All.....after all the talk about concern for people MIA, I thought I'd better check in.

John was home from work all week and just went back today. He and the kid were moving turtle tanks around on Sunday and John fell over something on the floor. He reinjured his injured knee and couldn't walk for a couple of days. He's wearing a knee brace now and was at the doctor last night. He's still limping, but at least he doesn't need the cruches anymore.

I'm exhausted and feeling a little sick today. I'm not used to taking care of someone else. I can barely take care of me.

I'll be reading and sending hugs to all of you even if I'm not posting much for the next few days.

 to you and John!

Hi everyone, I've missed all of you :grouphug: Hope everyone is well, I'm going to try to get caught up, at least a little, over the next week.

A friend of mine volunteered my house for a small Oscar party on Sunday, so I've been trying to get to the theatre every chance I get to see some of the movies. I hadn't seen anything since Mama Mia in the fall. No way I'm going to fit in any more before Sunday, but I did manage to see Slumdog Millionaire, Benjamon Button, The Reader, The Wrestler ( closed my eyes through most of this, I hate wrestling and bleeding...:scared: ) and saw He's just not that into you (just for fun, it's not nominated). Anyone else planning to watch the Oscars this year? To be honest, I didn't enjoy them last year and wasn't going to watch...but since everyone's coming to my house I guess I will once again! Funny thing is, I'm the one with the little 32" TV :happytv:

Kathe

Kathe - Oscar party, hum.....I think it's Cheri that's having 1 too.

I didn't even hear who was nominated - I go more for the Tonys that the Oscars ;)

Hi Kathe!!!:yay: :yay:

Yes, I've had an Oscar party at my house the last several years. It's become quite a tradition with my friends. So much so that even though I'll be out of town this Sunday (I'm actually going to be gone for about a week) the party is still going on here, just without me. When I told my friends that I wouldn't be able to have the party this year, they asked if they could still come over and watch it here! It's fine with me, they're all long-time good friends and I have no qualms about them being here. So I'm going to clean the house tomorrow, get out my decorations and leave the key under the mat! Isn't that funny?

You actually went camping??? My idea of camping is a 2 star hotel - I am SOOOO NOT an outdoors person!

OMG, this is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. That's how my father was. I had never been camping in any way, shape or form until I got married. My ex's family were big campers. I do like it, but have done very little since I've been single.

So the reason I missed Gray's and Private Practice tonight is because I was out buying myself an early 60th birthday present--a new TV. It's a monster, 52" Samsung. I told the guy that sold it to me that I've heard that people generally feel about TV purchases the way women feel about breast implants--after it's all said and done, they wish they'd gone bigger. So now I have to rearrange my living room somehow. It won't be delivered until Mar. 4 because I'll be gone all next week. Too bad it won't be here for the Oscar party, but I'll have it for next year, right????

Holly, this is all your fault, I just want you to know!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Hi Kathe - great top see you. I really was thinking about you yesterday too, so great you popped in.

Monica, if you can't swing April, September has a great group of TA cruisers.;) Remember, there is a chance of another Baltic cruise - I'm still holding our for one.

:grouphug: to you and John. He will have to take it carefully for a while so he doesn't do it again.

Both of my brothers are awesome. My oldest brother got re-mairried 18 months ago. His new FIL was just like my mom......he died last week. I don't think anyone is very sad....I only met him at the wedding.

Oh, now that is sad too. I sure don't want to be such a pain that my children aren't sad when I die. I don't mind them being relieved that it has finally happened though, if you know what I mean.

Thanks for relaying Micheles message Ian. And since she or no one else is around.............

Good Morning Marilyn and Debra!!!

Good morning Bubba.

Well, you know that Deborah & I would be as far away from this place as possible!! :scared1:

Congratulations! We have a 42" Samsung HD as our gaming monitor down in the bedroom, also since it an LCD television, you can use it for gaming.

Plasma TVs should not be used for video gaming.

Welcome to Friday!
Your Gateway to the Weekend!

Well, I hear on the radio this morning that we are under a winter storm warning and expecting to get 4 to 8 inches of snow by tomorrow 6PM.

You actually went camping??? My idea of camping is a 2 star hotel - I am SOOOO NOT an outdoors person!

Chuck and I went camping on our honeymoon.....in 1973! :bride: WE had a tent and we were so young! We went to the Rocky Mountain National Park, and Denver and Golden....oh, my what fun we had!

Here's a funny story, though. As you know, we are from Illinois....flatlanders for sure! :rolleyes1:love2: We camped at Shadow Mountain and then went hiking up, up, up to one of the highest mountains......well, I got so SICK! We went to town and phoned a doctor from a pay phone (no cell phones back then). He said I had ALTITUDE SICKNESS!!!! He recommended a night at a hotel, and lots of fluids....I think he actually laughed. So we stayed at this great motel built up the side of the mountain called the Brass Bed and in the morning they brought us a tray with coffee on it. We thought we were in heaven! :love2:

Gosh, I haven't thought of that for a long time.....I'll have to find a photo of us somewhere in a box of pictures........
