WB Panama Canal | Mar 4 - Mar 18 | Cruise-Along Thread

The PC cruises usually have relatively few kids — I think I’ve read reports sometimes of just 200 total. They don’t very often align with school break (ours ended last week and not another until late April) and 2 weeks is a long time to pull out of school or even a lot of vacation time for many US adults. So PC cruises in general skew to the older population.

Do you know if you’ll be getting Golden Mickeys? Sailing on the wonder next month and I’ll be gutted if it’s happening again

hope everyone on the sailing has a great time
Yup, Golden Mickeys is on the calendar on Day 10. Disney Dreams on Day 14. Frozen deck party on Day 6 - the day we port in Cartagena, Colombia.

There also seems to be a 'Star Gazing' session scheduled for three different sea nights out on the sports deck. Presumably, for the night sky enthusiasts. First one tonight. Will post an experience of what it was.

Since it's a long cruise, will they be doing any additional testing onboard?
As was mentioned, only if you became ill. We did not do any additional testing in Nov on the EB PC.
Per our head server at the dinner, 1114 guests on board.
You beat us, in Nov we only had 800. I guess people are starting to "relax" a little finally and that's a good sign.

Definitely, and the vax requirement doesn't help. We only had 27 kids/teens in November.

Interesting how they do the Frozen deck party in a tropical climate

Don't know why this sailing attracts this age group considering that 1 week of it is during spring break in the US/Canada.
Spring break in many part of the U.S. is the week before Easter or week after, so a little early for most U.S. Schools.

fab, thank you. feel excited to follow along this sailing as it always felt the one that made ours feel closer and to hear all the stuff happening on another longer sailing.
Star gazing sounds a fab addition, hope you enjoy

After a crap year last year of school and this year being a little rocky in the beginning, I think there are very few people who would pull their kids for this long. While mine are in middle school and high school, they would refuse to miss a week. And, frankly, I would never do that to their exhausted teachers anyway.

What are the movies are playing Buena Vista Theater on this sailing?

In our waiting batch for which they released the test results on screen - about 120 reservations - we saw not even a single 'Consult'.

It looked like mostly everyone made it on board.
That’s great. I think because we’re getting over the Omicron wave and I think a lot of people are taking more precautions and or testing on their own to prescreen themselves. I think a lot of the declined boardings back in December or January happened because people were simply not prepared on how to deal with the Omicron wave strategically when it came to sailing ( pre-test at home first, get Dr note for past infection etc )

Depends on the part of the country. When I was growing up it was always the week before Easter. Where I live now my daughter’s is always the last week of March. I know our beaches start seeing Spring Break crowds in 1 to 2 weeks.

It was always Easter break here. Public schools took the week before Easter, Catholic schools took the week after.

That's cuckoo! Was it intentional? And if so, what is the point of that?? I hope your line went quick and you made your dinner on time.

Yes, intentional and apparently SOP going forward. Everything on App -even menus. Guest services finally got App to work...50 minutes before we were due to dinner. Apparently every non-Iphone is different.

I'm "old" and don't love having to walk around with my phone figuring out what's next. Would rather put my phone in safe and be done with it. But, you can "heart" events and they will pop up to remind you.

In Cozumel today so have wifi. Good trip so far but a little rock&roll through gulf. Must be a storm somewhere.

I'm completely with you!! I don't love having to walk around with my phone either. Takes away from the whole point of being on vacation!! They might as well throw the room key on the phone app too and do away with the whole Key card.

Enjoy Cozumel, hope the seas smooth out for you!

Don't be too surprised if they do start using a mobile app to unlock the room doors. That's already an option at the WDW resorts. :(

Are they still limiting capacity for activities like trivia and bingo requiring folks to arrive early to wait in line?
Do you still have to wait in line to use the pools?
Are shows still being repeated so there is not new entertainment every evening?
Do you know if deck 2 is still being used for quarantine?

Stephen is the cruise director.

Quite a few non-Marvel / non-Disney movies playing. The traveling demographic probably has to do with it. Can't remember the last time they showed 'Mrs Doubtfire'!
@Intr3pid I will message you have a very specific question.
