You guys in the budget board know how to do everything else :teacher: , so I thought I would ask advice on this!

Well to clarify, I know how to do it :teeth: I just need advice on getting Pregnant ASAP- what has worked for any of you?

It is sorta budget related, see, we have to have our own private ins policy (since DH is self-employed) and we added maternity a year ago, it is way more expensive!!! We have until September 15, 2007 and then we have to sign up for another whole year of maternity or we can drop it. So, I want to get PG THIS MONTH so it will work out that we don't have to keep paying for something we aren't going to use anymore. My period should be starting any day so I calculate I should have the baby the beginning of Sept, talk about cutting it close :scared: . I will be getting my tubes tied after the next one, we already have a DS4 and I just turned 34, been married 12 yrs next May. We have been trying for a few months and I have bought some ovulation test strips (EBay) but no luck so far. Any suggestions for what I can do. Please send out some prayers for us too, I know this is the only way we will be blessed with a new baby :cloud9: . Thanks so much.

I don't have any advice just wanted to tell you good luck :wizard:

Doing the baby dance every other day seems to work. Also, try not to stress, easier said than done but it really messed up my cycle and made it a lot less fun when trying.

Good luck and have fun

Being a person who tried for 5 years to get PG (to no avail) it seems it doesn't always work when we are trying. That said, I now have 4 kids (2 being twins) Be careful what you wish for :rotfl2: At any rate, just make sure you know when you are ovulating. Just because MOST people do around the 14th day after their period starts, it doesn't mean that's how your cycle goes. (That was my problem) You are most fertile the couple days BEFORE you ovulate. Once you do ovulate, that fertility window closes rapidly. If you want any more detailed suggestions, just PM me. I'm certainly no expert, but I struggled with getting PG personally and I've worked as a RN in the Family Birth Place for 26 yrs :goodvibes I wish I knew then, what I know now

Wish I could give you some advice. I got pregnant with both DD's with virtually no trying...this time DH and I have been at it for a year! I just started getting 21 day prgesterone tests done (which tell me I am ovulating) so no idea. I've tried everything from OPK's, to not trying at all, fertility moniters, Preseed....this month I haven't done anything but just have fun so we'll see... Good luck to you!

If you get your period tomorrow, and conceive on Dec 24th, by the calendar I have, the due date would be Sept 16th..but that's a lot of pressure..both to get pg right away, and to assume baby will be on time. If you have been on the pill, it might take several cycles. In any case..good luck..most of the fun is in the trying!

I have no advice for you but I just wanted to wish you luck. DH and I have been trying for 5 1/2 years and I have gotten pregnant but I have no children. I have screwed up cycles though so that is my problem. This last time I went 55 days between cycles. I say don't stress out too much about it.

Good luck!

It will happen when the time is right.

My husband and I had been trying for 7 months without success when I confined in my sister. She advised me to try right after my period, I mean right after like the night of the last wipe if you know what I mean. Well it worked!! Same time for child number 2. My sister had had a miscarriage and was advised to not get preg for 3 months, at the 2 month mark she and her husband were going away she had just finished her period and didn't use any protection that night and she conceived. I have offered this advise to others some have reported success. Good luck and most of all have fun.

This may sound completely crazy but it has worked for five couples that we know so it may be coincidence or it may help.

OLIVE OIL....as a lubricant...it is all natural and so the little swimmers can get through easily.

Our fertility guy suggested it because of my personal lubricating issues (TMI) but we had stopped with all drugs and were looking at adoption and VIOLA our miracle.

We have suggested this to four other couples experiencing difficulties and all were pregnant with in three months....

Like I said maybe just timing or this may have helped....it's worth a shot and cheap!!!!

Yes, we thought of naming our daughter "OLIVIA" but changed our minds :rotfl2:

Oh That is funny!!!

I also heard trying every other day is better than every day- something about potency... Best of luck, OP!! Keep us posted!

I know for a fact that stress has an impact on hormones and therefore ovulation. I've personally experienced wacky and irregular cycles during times of intense stress. (having a period every 2 weeks is not fun!) While I certainly understand wanting to save money, you just may have to resign to the fact that you may have to pay maternity insurance another year. Once you get this mindset, you may just get pregnant instantly.

You could always get pregnant in January and still give birth in Sept. I did. Conceived on Jan. 27th 2006 and gave birth to my DD on 9/30/06 @ 36 weeks and 6 days. Her original birthdate was supposed to be 10/22/06. I'm just trying to illustrate that you can't always control mother nature. Good luck!

I would highly recommend a product called Pre-Seed. We only tried a couple times and boom - I was pregnant. Which surprised me because I was 34 at the time and worried we'd have problems. We'd never tried before last fall.

My cycles were always irregular except when I was on the pill. For about a year, I kept track of my cycles and possible "best days" by using the Taking Charge of Your Fertility software. I'm really bad about remembering when my last cycle was, so this software was great. I was trying to time our pregnancy to conception around the time we went to Disney World last year, but it turned out I conceived in late October.

Sending you lots of pixie dust!

I tried a long time. Then I went on-line and used one of the free ovulation calendars. Do the baby dance two days before and three days after you are scheduled to ovulate. It worked for me 2x! :goodvibes Good Luck!

I would definitely suggest using OPK's. Also, around the time you are ovulating, take robitussin (not DM, just regular robitussin.) When I conceived my son, I think I took a dose in the early afternoon and one an hour or two before baby dancing. I believe this advice was also from Taking Charge of Your Fertility. The robitussin is supposed to aid in personal lubrication. (I can't believe I am posting this on a Disney board!)

I haven't read all of the responses, but I second the idea to BD every other day. I got pregnant with my DD 5 weeks after my last period. I was SO SURE that I was about to start, and that we had no chance that month. That was when we conceived though. You never know when you will actually ovulate, so cover all the bases so to speak :rotfl: Good luck!

I would recommend that you check out the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and chart your temperatures. This will help you know when you ovulate. You can use the OPK's too, but they didn't work for me for some reason. After your period, BD every other day until you are sure that you have ovulated. You are most fertile immediately before you ovulate (little swimmers are there waiting). You can take Robitussin (regular kind) that will help the mucus' in your body to thin (making your cervical mucus more sperm-friendly). Take it from the time you stop your period until you ovulate as well.
We tried to get pg with our first child for 5 years when we finally just gave up. That's when it actually happened. After she was born, we didn't use any protection and decided that whenever we got pg again, if we got pg again, that would be fine. It took almost 4 more years to conceive our 2nd child who was just born 4 weeks ago. Before we had dd#1, we actually adopted 2 girls, so now we have 4 girls and are definitely done.
Good luck to you!

The Robitussin advice is actually advice to take Guaiafenesin. Mucinex pills every 12 hours will give you 1200 mg. per day; way more than you could ever get with Robitussin without making yourself sick. Just remember to drink a LOT of water with it; it is dehydrating. (It will keep your sinuses nice and clear, too!) Most fertility specialists I know recommend it; it vastly improves the flow quality of CM. It has almost no side effects; I've taken it daily for years for sinus problems.

I just wanted to give a :thumbsup2 to the robitussin too. I HATE cough syrup, but took it when we had tried for a few months with no success.....the first month I took robitussin we got pregnant with twins :goodvibes
