Well, for sure off topic, but I am right in the middle of the prep for the test which is Monday, AM and feeling sorry for myself. DH, could care less that I am miserable "just tough it out" Have not eaten any solids today. I am starving!!! Anyway, just wanted to come and whine! Thanks.

You're pretty much in the middle of the hardest part then! Did you drink the lovely drink yet? If you can get past the prep, the test is a breeze! Good Luck!

I am drinking it right now. I think I am going to float away. There is just so much of it too drink 64 oz is a lot when you are trying to choke it down!

Been there, done that at age 32! It was the worst day of my life, so I can sympathize with you. When the prep is over the colonoscopy is a breeze. In between bathroom runs, read the DIS boards. I have found some really funny threads! Good luck! It will be over before you know it!!!

Well I am 36 and I thought I was young, you beat me!
I haven't "gone" yet, but things feel to be moving around. How often did you go and how soon after you started to drink?
Honestly, I feel more like vomiting.

My heart goes out to you! I had one last April and then was told I will have to go every two years for the rest of my life. UGH!!!!

One thing I can recommend is if you have a favorite cup DO NOT USE IT for drinking the stuff or for the "chaser" (I used Sprite). Stupid me thought it would be conforting to me if I used my favorite big glass for the sprite. I can't use that glass anymore. It makes me quesy just seeing it. It's sad too because I really liked that glass!

Joining the group... 35 years old. I had the test two years ago. You'll go quite often, probably every 15 minutes. But, as the other posters said, the prep is the hardest part and thest is a breeze. Are you mixing it with anything? Try powdered drink (not red or purple, though). It seems to cut back on the saltiness.

Good Luck!

Well I have something that will make you laugh... This was just a couple of weeks ago.

We have these neighbors who are a wonderful older couple. He still brings her to get her hair done, and drives her to the store, etc. Well he had to go for a colonoscopy, and had to do all the prep. (it was also a Sunday...like you)
Well, you know what you are going through... Later that night she was doing something and looked at the calendar and said "uh oh"..she mixed up the weeks and his appointment wasn't until the next Monday :rotfl2:
When they told me about this they were both laughing...luckily... can you imagine??? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

good luck with your test :grouphug:

I have a consultation this week with a gastroenterologist to schedule a colonoscopy..... Good luck! Let us know how things "go"!! I guess I am right "behind" you!!! :rotfl2: (just a little colonoscopy humor.. :teeth: )

Been there, done that! I totally sympathize with you. I hadn't been feeling well for months when I had mine done. I had lost 15 lbs and wasn't eating much if anything, so that prep did me in and I could only get the one dose down...since I hadn't eaten for a while they said it should be okay (didn't drink sodas for 7 months after though). I dehydrated and we had to call the Dr at 3:00 in the morning because I thought I was having a heart attack (at 40) he said drink 7-up and 2 tylenols which helped. The test itself wasn't bad, I remember loving the IV since everything on my body ached It was such a relief, I came home and slept all day. My mother had it done a few weeks ago and she didn't even sleep afterward, she did much better than I did and she's 85! GOOD LUCK :grouphug:

I had to drink the foul liquid and be on clear fluids the day before my hysterectomy a few months ago. Ugh, that stuff is awful! I made the mistake of chasing it with 7-Up to kill the taste, and the carbonation did not sit well. I also felt pretty empty and weak by the end of the day, and I think my surgery wasn't until early afternoon the next day.

Now my doc is asking about what kind of colon cancer my grandparents had, since she may want to start me on the colonoscopy stuff (I'm 43.) So I ask my mom, and she says, "You know all that stuff you had to do for the surgery? You'll have to do it all over again." UFF DA! Every time I think about it I want to hurl. So I have to ask my mom's sister if she knows what type of cancer, otherwise I suppose the doc will just schedule for the colonoscopy. :faint:

Feeling queasy now... :crazy2:

I've had 4 of them and started in my early 30's....

The prep is by far the hardest and I felt like I was going to throw up, too. It is nasty. Drinking that stuff, every 10 mins makes you feel awful. Then things start churning...once you start to "go", it's non-stop. The last few glasses are very hard, too. You know you are almost there and the thought of putting in any more is tough. Hang in there....

I am due to schedule mine and I keep pushing that phone call off....

The day before I call the yello jello day, The prep is definately worse than the test. Wait till afterand they applaud when you fart!!! Seriously they've gone down both ends of me at the same time( I hope the doc didn't get the tubes mixed up) and have been up and aboutwithin 1 - hours no pain or anything. Let us know how you fair.

My dad is has having this done tomorrow so he's currently drinking all the stuff right now. He had it done 15 years ago also and he vomited and vomited. Couldn't keep the stuff down.

I've had 3 and I am only 33. The worst is almost over. Less than 24 hours til dinner.

ok guys a glass and a half to go...omg!!! I'm dying!

I thin I might die!
You won't, but you sure feel like it! I had problems with keeping it down so they called in some meds that cancer patients use for nausea. Helped so much!
Hang in there! (and some ointment like a&d work wonders on your bottom, it's gonna hurt....not to be gross or anything here)

Ugh. I just had one last month so I feel for you.
Good luck! The prep is by far, the WORST of it.
