Way too hot in July!

Now I know why I won't go back to WDW in the summer. I'm still down in Florida, Jacksonville, , and just back from BWV. I'm from NH and the humidity down here is unbelievable! The heat index was 105!! The quite pool was very warm, not refreshing at all. I don't know how people can do the parks with the heat but I guess the people who live in the South are used to it. We ended up spending the day at VWL in the quiet pool since it was less warm!

Give me the Feb. vacation any time!

I hear you :thumbsup2...live on long island...but my son goes to school in Fl..Ft Myers....visited him there the middle of July....wow was it hot :) but according to him I was lucky no rain the 4 days I was there...

That's why I always wait until January to go to Disney. I don't do heat well! :)

We learned early on that November - May is our favorite WDW months. We have tried other months but found the heat and crowds unbearable. :headache:

:earsboy: Bill

I actually found the weather in May to be very pleasant. No lines and didn't even break a sweat until the day we were leaving:thumbsup2

We were there last Oct for F & W and boy was it hot. Record heat. It was so hot and humid. Then we went in Jan and we had record cold and a few snow flurries. Went in May and it was beautiful. Wonderful weather. Swam every day, not too hot in the parks and not too crowded. We went a few years ago in May and also loved it. We have been in July but try to avoid it if at all possible. Our trips depend on everyone's schedule. I'm still happy whenever I'm there.

We went once in August...never again! Dh and I looked at each other and said, "never again in July or August".
We always go for Food and Wine in October, and occasionally go in Dec. for the Christmas atmosphere, and sometimes in May for Flower and Garden.
:goodvibesWe will go anytime except July and August; luckily we have that option.

I agree. We are experiencing our first and last WDW summer right now. I think it's supposed to be 300 degrees or so tomorrow. Being from California the heat we're used to, but this wet air on the other hand...

My wife bought a hat this morning because her hair exploded into some Don King style debacle.

Having had a string of unseasonably cool or downright cold trips in November, December and March in the last few years, we decided this year to just skip the questions and go during the summer. It's easier to not have to take DS out of school, plus it solves the "what weather do I pack for?" question. We were just there in late June and honestly, at times I was questioning my decision! But we also swam EVERY DAY - and I grew up in the south, so I'm not one of those people who will swim if it's 60F outside...it has to be hot for me to want to get in the water! So enjoying the pool with my kiddo every day was a rare treat. And the long park hours and plethora of special summer events are a great trade-off for the heat!

Another thing - I'm not a napper at all, so the afternoon break has always been a tough thing for me. Being able to swim meant we had a break during the hottest part of the day and were able to cool our bodies down before showering and changing for the evening shift. We planned our breakfasts late (to take advantage of the "cooler" hours during EMH) and get out of the late morning sun. We also planned our dinners early for the same reason. We also do mostly signature restaurants for dinners, so those dinners were long enough that by the time we were done, the sun wasn't down, but it was low in the sky and less of a factor in how the temperature *feels*. (we tend to just eat 2 meals a day when it's that hot, with the occasional snack thrown in)

(Oh, we also went in May 2009 on Mother's Day week and it was as hot as it was this June - hotter than normal for that time, and the day we left was when the infamous month+ of rain began - it was above and beyond the typical afternoon thunderstorm pattern. I don't think I've ever read so many reports of day-long rain deluges!)

I am the oddity here. I love our summer trips. We went to Universal over July 4th and the weather was great and I am looking forward to our trip in 25 days. I would rather have 90 and humid over the 70 and humid we get here in NY at times. Also it has been a hot summer here in NYC so if won't feel that different

Unfortunately due to school holidays here in Scotland we have no alternative but to come in July, agree weather to hot, very crowded and I cannot believe at time's you even need to queue for the toilet.:)

We are Yankees from Up North. We normally come down in February/March, but starting last year, the school district's mid-winter break no longer lines up with the University's "spring" break, so we had to switch to summer, and went down last week

It's a different trip, no question. We were actively rooting to be hit by the water cannons on Splash, when normally we are hoping to avoid them. But, we found it worked if we toured sensibly---in the parks early and late, back at the resort during the afternoon (the hottest and most crowded part of the day) and it was pretty doable. It was *impossible* to drink too much water, but we kept trying! We also found that having a sit-down lunch each day was really very helpful.

Recently returned from our trip and the weather was grat although we are having extreme temperatures in the Northeast this summer so it didn't matter to us. We actually enjoyed going to the water parks this time first time ever and the kids loved it and wanted to keep going back. I was worried about crowds but we didn't have any problems.

Our daughter and her husband are teachers, so if they travel with us we go in August-we always have a great time! We're all early risers and getting out for park openings isn't a problem for us. One day I'd like to see the Christmas decorations-so it would be cooler but still crowded!

We have been at different times of the year and have hit all kinds of weather. We went in May and it was unseasonably hot. So hot, I fainted in the line for Splash Mountain :scared1: In case you ever wondered....emergency services at WDW are fantastic! :thumbsup2 Though I do wish that I had not found that out first hand! :lmao:

I think you go when it is best for you and enjoy! April can be cold, February can be hot, you never know what you will get as far as weather....but Disney is always magical!

We love going in summer. We are at BLT right now. Every season has advantages and disadvantages.

Summer advantages
Parks are open late
Less chance of colds and flu unlike Feb
Good swimming, cold in feb
Predictable weather for travel
No cold to worry about in Orlando
Kids are out of school

You just have to know how to handle the parks. We swim, do community hall, watch movies, arcades, games, boats during day and nap. Do parks at night and fireworks at night. Evenings are heaven here at night.
