Way too hot in July!

We don't do WDW in late June, July, or August...we live in Louisiana and it is hot & humid here, but we still aren't use to it.

It is suppose to be 101 degrees today...:scared1:

We went to WDW in August for the past 8 years (due to not wanting to take the kids out of middle and high school). This is the first year of both being in college and we have gone back to our annual January WDW trip. NO MORE SUMMERS AT WDW!!!!!!!!!!!! (and no more worrying about hurricaines, we got stuck at WDW during hurricane Charlie back in 04)

Summer just isn't the same without our annual trip to WDW. I love the good swimming weather and it is perfect for the water parks. And sitting on our BCV balcony watching the Epcot fireworks is wonderful:)

Philly was 95+ for 22 days in July along with 65% humidity. Not much different than Orlando. If I'm going to be hot and sweaty I much rather be at Disney.

What she said!!

We also had record temps in DC for most of the summer! Not too much different from being in FL but without the magic!!

DW and I are teachers, so for us, summer=vacation. I feel your pain, but we have been vacationing in the summer in Florida for 20+ years and you just sort of deal with the heat after a while. After all, it's hot at home, too. We have gone in the Spring, which is lovely weather, but the spring break crowds are much worse than summer. Christmas break crowds are the worst of all, so we haven't done that more than once.

We managed the heat just fine last week. And it *was* hot. But, on the other hand, I don't really mind the uncertainty. I pack a little bit of everything. If for some reason the weather is consistently cool (or hot), I just wash my cold- (or warm-)weather clothes a bit more often.

Naturally, this only works if you're at least in a 1BR, but still.

DH and I both have July Birthdays and we don't like to take the kids out of school.
So July it is...
Atleast you know what to pack!
We also went last December and had to pack the whole closet.
I, personally, would rather be HOT at WDW than freezing.

I got tired of going to Disney when it's stinking hot, so we went in Feb this year, well I'm sorry but with a 3 day high of 35 degrees and gale force winds & rain, Jun/Jul/Aug are back in! Never again, I'd rather sweat than freeze my noogies off!

This photo was taken during the heart of a Wisconsin winter (had just rolled into work at 7 a.m.), I will never ever complain about it being hot and muggy in Florida.

OP. Our family is with you. Too too too hot. I don't like it in IL when the heat index hits 105 (temp 97) by 10:30AM. I think egads how do people do disney in this heat? By the pool, I would be fine. It is the thought of having to stand in line for an hour at a time due to crowds with people all around you and children (mine) melting from the heat. Nope cooler months for us. DH and I hit Vegas in July and we said never again to Vegas in Jul/August and while we were in Vegas we said "Let's never go to disney in the summer with the kids".

Now I know why I won't go back to WDW in the summer. I'm still down in Florida, Jacksonville, , and just back from BWV. I'm from NH and the humidity down here is unbelievable! The heat index was 105!! The quite pool was very warm, not refreshing at all. I don't know how people can do the parks with the heat but I guess the people who live in the South are used to it. We ended up spending the day at VWL in the quiet pool since it was less warm!

Give me the Feb. vacation any time!

we were there too, apparently broke a temperature record:eek:. only time we really felt miserable was area in epcot between the worlds as there was no shade to be found.:confused3I made sure to only pack the dry-wick type of tshirts though, a lifesaver:thumbsup2

we take our time, try to visit during the cooler hours & avoid the lines that have long waits in the sun

nice thing about owning DVC (knowing we'll be back;)) allows us to skip attractions with long lines and hang at pool or in air conditioned areas

we took youngest DS to Vegas, Grand Canyon & disneyland/universal in june/july of '08, never will forget the heat hitting us after our flight landed at LAS after 9 pm. We said the same thing about never going to disney in summer with our kids after our quickie trip end of July last year....we left them at home this time:laughing:

as others have mentioned we've had a bunch of 90+ degree days in Pittsburgh (no central AC in my house either:rolleyes1, we rely on ceiling fans & window AC in bedrooms along with our pool) perhaps we're used to the heat? I'd rather be hot in WDW than experience another winter like the last one.

Plan right and you never have to spend an hour in line, even in summer. I've never waited an hour in line during the summer.

It couldn't have been much worse than it has been here in New England this July!

I hate the heat and humidity, but I let my wife talk me into going last August. Once I accepted the fact that I was going to be sweaty and disgusting, I was actually OK with it. We are normally commando-style park goers and don;t use the pool/resort much, but we slowed it down, made sure to get to the parks when the ropes dropped, went back to our room mid-afternoon for lunch and a swim (or had a sit-down lunch at the park), then went back out for the evening. I was shocked, but it ended up being one of our best trips.

I don't think I would ever go in July though, just too crowded. I would either go as soon as school got out in June or just before it starts in late August, the crowds aren't nearly as bad then.
