I have just been offered, from a family member, a chance to buy there timeshare at Blue Green resorts in Wis Dells for $1.00.

This is a Red week, a Blue Week, a White week and also 9000 points.

Here's the question...
We understand the week thing... what do we do with the points, other than buy another week in a condo. Can points be used for entertainment, food, whatever?

Any info would be helpful...

Thanks!

From what I can tell by reading about Bluegreen's on their web site (http://www.bluegreenonline.com), it looks like they run a vacation club where they use a point system similar to DVC.

It looks like you can use your points at other resorts. Bluegreen has 2 resorts in the Orlando area. So, I guess you can use your points to stay in Orlando while visiting the World.

Before you accept the offer to buy this resort for $1.00, keep in mind that this deal comes with a commitment to pay yearly maintenance fees which can be quite hefty.

Also, most vacation clubs charge to book a reservation at a resort that isn't your home resort so you might want to inquire about those fees.

I have owned DVC since 1997. Even after buying a house in Central Florida in 2001, I kept DVC since it really is a great deal. But keep in mind that we are talking about DVC. Bluegreen might be similar.

Thanks... I do know that the yearly maintenance fees run around $860.00.

I don't know if the points can be used for attraction tickets... car rental... cruises... trading for DVC time...?

Your ability to trade for car rentals, DVC and other items will depend on their policies.

I can tell you that just recently, RCI (another resort trade group) can now trade into DVC (and we DVC owners can trade into RCI). There are specific rules to follow. You might want to inquire about that, too.

Post this over on the DVC boards. Many of us over there have timeshares with a variety of companies, and BG is talked about quite a bit. Those folks know EVERYTHING about timeshares, I swear!
