Way Early Roll Call For March 4, 2006 Eastern.........

Shelley,

Come all the way to the Dis boards to talk to a neighboor!

I don't know about you all....but I am really excited about the cruise...the boys talk about it alot....

I used these boards to help me plan our trip last year, and the info was invaluable. We went from staying at the Holiday inn, to staying at the AKL, using tips I got here.

Happy Planning all!

Sandi

Hello all! I think we're joining you?? We're in the process of moving our reservation from January to March. Although we were in a cat. 6, and there are none available right now for March, so I think DH and I will miss that verandah something fierce!

It would be me, DH, DD5 and DD3. We went on the Wonder in March of this year, and loved it! We've been planning the next one ever since.

Did I understand someone that the early seating is already full? Oh boy, that could be a big problem for us.

Looking forward to getting to know all you!

We booked February 2005 and are on the waiting list for early seating. We had asked for early originally, but we are still on the late. I don't think our children 6 and 4 will do so well with eating so late. Any suggestions??

I called Disney today about the same thing. I have children the same age and this late seating is making me nuts. The woman on the phone said not to panic. People will change their seating time closer to Dec. 19th when the payments are due. I guess we get to panic then.

I wonder if in-room babysitting is available, so if we do get stuck with a late dinner seating, the kids could just grab something they like and we could still have a few nice dinners. It would be a shame not to take advantage of these restaurants.

Disney doesn't do in room babysitting, they switched that a few years ago. I think it's better for both sides, less chance of anything bad happening, or being accused of anything bad.

I think our option will be feed them at Plutos/Topsiders and let them play in the kids club while we have a quiet dinner, or try to give them a snack and keep them up late.

Our last cruise, the girls had no problems staying up late. The were so excited to do everything, sleep was the last thing on their mind.

I hope you're right, though, that more early dining opportunities will open up as the pay in full deadline approaches!

Well, we were so impressed :earseek: with the Wonder last week on the 4 day we signed up before we got off for the 3/4/06 Magic 7 day!!! Looking forward to more at sea days :sunny: and more Palo visits!!!

Welcome MoiMoi!! Boy, our group's been quiet the last week or so. How's everyone doing?

DH is starting to get more and more excited about the trip. He was looking at excursions today, and we definitely want to snorkel. Any suggestions from anyone?

I'm trying to remember to look for pirate costumes here as the costumes go on sale close or after Halloween - Pirate night is fun, and I think more and more people are dressing up for it. I missed the big event last year, my DD2 fell asleep, so DH and DD4 did the Pirate night events. We were on the Wonder, and it was the first night the ship ever set off fireworks. Cool! :cool1:

 just checking in with everyone... getting excited here too!!! :cheer2:

Someone mentioned doing a snorkeling excursion ~ we're thinking about the Trunk bay snorkeling excursion ~ I read somewhere that it was a really good one.

Also ~ this is our first Disney Cruise so I would love more info on pirates night.... it sounds fun ~ should I be picking up eye patches and hooks?? pirate:

We're cruising following four days at Disney world - so I'm a little stressed over packing for both trips... any suggestions???

I hope we have lots of :sunny: the week of our cruise!!!

Here's what I rememberabout Pirate Night on the Wonder:

1. All the characters and cast members are dressed in pirate gear. Many passengers do too, and that ranges from eye patches to full costumes. DD4 wore an eye patch and carried a "sword" that was a light up toy that we had bought at the Magic Kingdom. Some people are very elaborate - it's completely up to you!

2. When you arrive at dinner, there is a red bandana at everyone's plate and most everybody puts it on. Also, the menu that night is special, and the menu comes on a rolled up piece of paper that you can take home. I don't think I'm doing it justice, but it's quite clever.

3. That night, I think around 10pm-10:30pm, there's a "show" on deck 9, where Captain Hook and Mr. Snee take over the ship. There's even a skull and crossbones projected onto the steam thing - what's it called?

4. Mickey saves the day, and fireworks go off the ship, if the weather conditions are right.

5. There's a beautiful pirate night dessert buffet at midnight.

Okay, anyone who knows more can correct me. :cheer2:

HI GEMJOY!!

We did the trunk bay excursion in the spring. It was beautiful. We saw thousands of fish and many turtles. It was the best day of our trip. They take you out to trunk bay by sailboat which is quite fun too. This time we have our 2 children with us, so we won't be doing that excursion. Enjoy if you go.

:wave2: Yes ~ I've heard it's beautiful!! We were planning on taking our daughter 9 and son 11... are they too young for this excursion? I hadn't thought of that. If so ~ what other excursions would you recommend? :confused3

Hello

Well I've decided to keep this booking & go with just the girls. My dd are 13 well almost bday 2days after cruise & 9. This is our 2nd cruise, first eastern. My dh will not be joining us as he is going to be getting his charter boat training. Has week of courses before test.

So I'm also looking at excursions for the 3 of us. I'm not that big on swimming more the beach type of girl. But my daughters love the water. Not real grand swimmers but they hold their own in Lake Michigan.

Gemjoy I see you have dd also 9, hopefully we can get them together. Anyone bringing any 12 or 13 along. My dd are pretty outgoing all those years of daycare.

Looking forward to meeting all of you. On our last cruise it was great to put faces with names. I felt like I was on a cruise with good friends.

Wendy

Gemjoy,
Our children are going to be 6 and 4 when we go, so that's why I think they are a little young for the excursion. If your children like to snorkle and like to sail, then it would be great for them. You can get out of the water anytime they are tired and sit on the sailboat. There are lifejackets for people to wear also, so it does not take very much effort to float around and observe what's going on under the water. Just remember to put lots of sunscreen on. :goodvibes

Actually, this is new to all of us so I'm not sure how they will like it :confused3
~ My kids would be perfectly happy playing in the ocean the entire time... but I kinda want to plan a really fun excursion... something they can remember - and this one seemed to get rave reviews! Since you've been on this cruise before ~ what other excursions seem to be popular with children their age? It sounds like Castaway Cay is the perfect place for kids ~ we're really looking forward to that! :goodvibes

If I can chime in, the banana boat excursion on Castaway Cay looks like a blast. My girls are way too small, but a 9 and 11 year old would probably love it.

Where is the trunk bay excursion? Is it off a boat, or off the shore?

Also, welcome to rifgirlsmom! Although my girls are much younger - 5 and 3 - I'm sure the trip will be a blast for all of us.

Oops! Sorry Gemjoy! My husband has just informed me that we did the Buck Island tour not Trunk Bay. So sorry to have misled you. Someone else will have to fill you in on the other one. :confused3

We too are looking at doing the trunk bay excursion....I have heard good things about it.

I have two boys, 8 and 11, so I am hoping they are a good age for it.

My youngest isn't as strong a swimmer, so I am a little worried....any info would be great!

I booked our two nights before the cruise today, at CSR, and our airfare yesterday (SWA), so it is starting to really feel real!

I don't know about you all, but I am definitly disney obsessed!

I can't wait to go, and it is 4months away!!!!

Hi all
We just booked last Friday. I started reading the first page of this thread and realized some have booked a year in advance! I don't think I could book that far in advance...the wait would kill me :)

DH, me and DD(4 at cruise date)...can't wait.
