Wax for hardwood floor?

As a kid an young adult when I've had hardwood floors it was the real thing an Johnsons paste wax was always used.

Now with the more modern prefab hardwood floors what is a good wax? I really do not need to make the floor slick just add a bit of protection to it.

Maybe something that I can do in 1 step rather than scrubbing floor then adding the wax only to have to go back an buff the whole thing again.

My DH installs floors for a living and he says to only use vinegar and water. All those other things ruin your floor and they build up and make it harder to refinish when the time comes.
