we have booked a waterview room at cbr in august. i normally don't pay the extra $$$ for a view, but that was all that was left for the ft packages there at the time we wanted to go.

anyways, do all of the sections have waterview rooms? it's sort of hard to tell by looking at the map. any room/section recommendations?

thanks!

I've stayed at the DBR twice with my FI...and we never requested any particular view...but from what I remember of the resort, not ALL the building have water views. if you look at a resort map, basically on the buildings right around the lake will have a water view. (also remember there are no "balconys" at the CBR - there is the big walk-way around the second floor rooms, but nothing you can drag a chair out to and sit and enjoy the view.

When we stayed there in 2001 we had a nice courtyard view...it was a perk.

IMO - I realy don't understand why some people drop the big bucks for a view...we come back to our room, close the drapes and crash...really never enjoy our "view"

but all in all - I really liked the CBR and I found the CM's to be very nice. (5 minutes after we got to our room, I realized we didn't have a hairdryer...I called mousekeeping, it was in our room in 10 minutes flat...I was impressed!) Plus - you'll love the renovations they did...the rooms are really nice!

have fun!

In my opinion, you should definetly request a view of the lake as opposed to a pool view, which you could end up with (it is water!). It could get noisy and may spoil the ambience.

I just got back from CBR. I didn't hear a lot of noise in any part of the resort. It might have been noisy near the main pool at OPR but there aren't any rooms nearby.

I also agree that a waterview at CBR is not a big deal. Since you don't have private balconies usually you have the blinds closed unless you enjoy everyone looking in your room. I have had the waterview that I paid for once, then was upgraded to them several times and I wasn't impressed.

I would rather have a village that is close to OPR than have a water view but all the villages have rooms that are considered waterview. I don't think there is a bad room in the place because even if you have a parking lot view there is so much landscaping you are screened from seeing the cars.

You will have a great time.

As a former CBR water view guest, I will jump in here with my humble opinion.

Last June '02 was our first trip to WDW and after picking the CBR, I figured the small upgrade charge for a water view was worth not getting stuck with a parking lot view.

Boy was it great! We were in room 4251 in Jamaica. Overlooking the gorgeous lake. Every morning I would open the blinds to look out at the day. Then I would step outside with my morning beverage and lean on the railing. The sun glistening on the lake was superb! The wet sand of the beach and the dew on the grass and the clean look of the damp brick walkways was just a delicious scent and look of that wonderful Florida-ness!!!!

I'm sure glad I wasn't looking at a parking lot.

I enjoyed this for six mornings in a row.

The nice thing about Jamaica is that it's the first bus stop. That means you get a seat going to a park because the bus comes to you empty. And when you come back from a park, even if it's standing room only, you are the first dropped off. And I didn't feel the walk to the main pool and Port Royale was far at all (neither did DW or DD5)....

I think you'll be very happy!

We had one of the "parking lot" views this past March at Trinidad North and I have to agree that the foliage is very large and it is kind of hard to see through. That being said, every morning I took my coffee out to the rail and watched the day begin. I got to see the famous "Mug Men" and I also observed the CM's in their carts (man! they start EARLY!). We did spend a lot of time at the Courtyard and personnally I would rather have a first floor courtyard room. I loved CBR...I mean LOVED!!!! I'd go back in a heartbeat and truly envy safetymom for all her time that she has spent there!! lucky person that she is!!! Whatever view you get isn't going to matter, your at WDW at a beautiful resort. ENJOY!

It helps that my daughter was in the Disney College program this last year. :)

Also we figured it out that it was cheaper to go to WDW than a week at the beach. My teenagers also help pay their way because they like going to WDW and CBR.

I would love to try the deluxes but as a widow with 2 teenagers at home yet I don't have the budget for this. I would rather go several times and stay at the moderates.

thanks for your input, everyone. i'm glad to hear so many people liked it. we were really impressed with csr last time, but dh and i like to try new resorts, so we decided to go with cbr instead for this trip. :)
