Waterproof Camera?

Bought my DW the Kodak Playsport. Waterproof to 3 meters, 1080p HD camcorder and 5meg pictures. It takes great videos and stills. And is very rugged and very easy to use. Has to be since DW drops cameras too much.
She loves it and has taken great underwater videos

We have a Canon Powershot D12 waterproof camera. I love it! It takes great pictures.

Can people share the approx pricepoint of their cameras while sharing their suggestions/advice..... THX!

I have the Olympus Stylus Tough 8010. It costs about $150.

I do not use it outside of water situations, as I prefer my DSLR. but, the water pictures always turn out nice and crisp, and the kids have fun with it in the pool. I take it out on the lake kayaking. It's a fun little camera.

We also have an Olympus-- Stylus 850 SW

We got it a few years ago so I'm sure there's a newer model number now. It was around $250. It's also shockproof and freeze proof, so I can let the kids use it and it's okay to leave it in the car (below zero most of the winter here)

I was a bit scared to take it into the pool at first because I already had a bunch of our vacation pictures on it, but DH grabbed it and jumped in. We have used it in the pool-- getting some pics of the kids on the slide and underwater. But it also allowed me to take pictures without worry during a 12 day trip of non-stop rain. I could take pictures all day without worrying about it getting wet and ruined. :thumbsup2

Kodak used to sell disposable waterproof/underwater cameras for about $10. Not sure if they still make them, but they did take decent pictures. And it sure beats paying $150 to $200 for another camera if you already have one!

I just purchased the fugifilm XP20 for $150.. and i love it.. it also takes panoramic shots.

I love my little olympus,it is great for beaches and pools! I tend to break cameras,so I had to start going with waterproof/shockprrof model:banana:

I think that's the one I got for Christmas last year. I love it! I had gone to Blizzard Beach with my friend and his sister's family. I was shocked when she took her camera with us when we left the locker. She took great pictures of us that day and I used mine on the Dream last year. It was fun watching people's reactions when I took it in the hot tub.

It is nice to take into the pool or ocean but also so I don't have to worry about it getting wet when it rains.

Kodak still makes these. We got one included in the package we got at Discovery Cove last year. I was glad to have it because our digital camera is not waterproof. We had fun using the disposable, but the pictures didn't come out that great - kind of fuzzy looking. The colors were really muted looking. I also really missed seeing how my pics looked after taking them...I have been so spoiled by a digital!

We are planning on getting a waterproof digital camera with camcorder for our next trip. :)

We have the Kodak EasyshareSport - It's 12 MP and Waterproof to 3.0 meteres. Before our trip last fall I was planning on buying a few disposable waterproof cameras to take to the waterparks. I found this camera at Walmart for $69. Figured that was probably not much more expensive than buying 2 or 3 disposables + developing with disc. It took some really great pictures at the waterparks both in and out of the water. I also liked that it takes AA batteries so I didn't have to worry about charging a special battery.

I finally caved and bought the water proof digital, over disposable, because I take hundreds of pictures. When you figure trips to the lake, with yearly vacations, with trips to the ocean... I figure it will pay off. Also, I got to know how it worked, so that the photos turned out better than a disposable, that I didn't know as well. I don't anticipate upgrading the waterproof camera, like I upgrade my regular camera.

I am looking at the Nikon Coolpix S30. Does anyone have this camera and if so, what do you think?

BIG Olympus Tough Series fan here!

We've all been using them for about 6 years and had very good results. Pools, bays, oceans...and the killer theme parks...they've survived everything we've dished out. (sorry...haven't been to the Arctic Circle with them yet...can attest to the -degrees capability!)

Indoor flash is sometimes challenging, but most "PNS" cameras are like that.

Terrible indoor and low light quality as it has a very small sensor. I looked at it because it was cheap and cute But no one I talked to was impressed with it. I am considering a canon one and I will give it to my mom when I am done as she needs a new point and shoot. The olympus tough ones look fairly decent as well but I think my iPhone in a lifeproof case will do just fine for what I want which is to not carry either of my SLRs around.

I find the Sony TX5 or TX10 to be the best waterproof cameras out there!

I have to second that. I own the sony tx10 and it is a superb camera (costly though, about $300. I was lucky enough to buy mine on a black friday for much less...
