Water, Water, everywhere

I don't know if I am in the right forum for this, but everyone talks about how bad the water is at the parks. I am wondering about those Brita water bottles I have found on ebay. Has anyone ever used those? They seem big. How would you carry them?
I was going to do a grocery stop until the Magic Express came out. So how should I handle the water situation? Ship a case? Get a case delivered?

I'm not sure if the tap water is bad, but the parks all serve Dasani bottled water (if I remember correctly) which is bottled by Coke and available at any grocery store. So unless you have a particular aversion to this brand of water, or want to save money, its not a huge deal.

Actually, now that I think about it, we bought bottled water in the parks and filled up later at the drinking fountains. I don't remember the water being horrible, but it was also very, very warm outside and I would've drank my own sweat for thirst...

I have used Brita Water bottles. We bring a stoller and I put them in mesh bag and put the bag under the stroller.

I really like my Brita water bottles. We got ours at Walmart (check in the plumbing/hardware supply department) and they were worth every penny. The first trip that we used them we carried them in a backpack, and for our second trip I carried a lumbar pack with water bottle holders. They fit just fine in there.

I *think* you can use the filter on other bottles, but I haven't tried. The spout unscrews and that is where you change the filter. It would seem that you could screw that spout and filter onto a different bottle - but again, I haven't tried. There is also another brand of water bottle filter made by Richard Simmons. Check around online for these (I think HSN sold them and maybe some as-seen-on-tv sites) because they can go on any bottle.

We just returned on Saturday. Used two of these, one for me and DH and one for my parents. DH was skeptical of them but loves them now. No different than carrying a regular bottle of water around IMHO.

I bought one last year and tried it at epcot. It did not take out the bad flavor. I ended up not using it for the remainder of the trip. You might just want to bring flavor packets for the ice water that any counter service will give you for free.

I was able to get three of these at the end of the summer for about $2.99 each. I decided to try one the other day to make sure I could figure it out. Is it just me, or is the water hard to drink out of these?
I find that I really have to squeeze it to get anything out, and then it ends up squirting out of my mouth because too much comes out!
I've also found them to be quite tall, but not really holding much water, so I've decided that our first day in the parks we aren't bringing them. We will ask for glasses of icewater if we get thirsty and try that out. If we find the water so horrid that we cannot drink it, we'll bring the Brita's but squirt them into cups or something!

Yes, the water down there in the fountains is HORRIBLE! Of course, I have good ol' NC well water, so it's a big difference for me. But we tried the Brita water bottle/filter last year and loved them! Made the drinking fountain water taste just like normal. Had no problems using the bottles, and they're really no bigger than a thing of bottled water, so they're not bulky. You do have to squeeze to get the water to come out, as one poster said, but that is to get the water to pass through the filter. If you didn't squeeze, the water would just trickle through; if you didn't use the filter, the water wouldn't taste any better. I think it's worth a little squeezin' for better tastin' water!

I NEVER go on a trip without my Brita! I love it!!!

As the previous poster said, you do have to apply a little squeeze to get the water out. But it is SO worth it! When we were at WDW the last time, my boys each had one; we bought a water bottle strap at the parks for each one. You can then just let the bottle dangle from your side. Well, my youngest son forget his Brita one day and left it behind in the hotel room. He took one drink out of the drinking fountain and about spit it everywhere! He NEVER forgot his bottle again after that!

So, as you can see...it is a personal decision. Some people can pick up on the chemical-taste in the water; some people are what they call 'taste-blind' to it. We happen to taste the yuckies, and we were never inconvenienced by our Brita bottles.

Next to any Kisok on the park, you will usually find the water bottle straps for sale. (If you choose to go this route!)

I don't think the Orlando water is all that bad. It has a bit of a salt-water taste to it, not bad IMO. Then again, I lived in southern Alabama for 4 years and the Orlando water tastes very similar to the Alabama water. When I hit the hotel, I'm usually thirsty and will have a glass. I think it tastes just fine, but maybe I'm just a bit nostalgic for college!

We just go into the nearest counter service resturant
and ask for 2 ( or more, there are 6 of us) large cups of
ice water. There is NO CHARGE for it there. The water taste
normal and we have never had a problem. Good Luck

We went last year and I had no problem with the water. Yes it tasted different than what I am used to at home. There is nothing wrong with it or they wouldn't pipe it in. You are going in June around the same time I am. Trust me, you will be hot enough that you won't really care what the water tastes like.

BTW, I took a Britta water bottle with me. Carried it the first day and drank park water the rest of the stay.

I live for water and drink it all day long. I personally find the water in FL to be awful. You should definately either buy water before you go or buy some at a local store when you get there. When I go, I usually pack a seperate bag with at least 2 bottles a day for myself this way I have it and I don't have to worry about bad tasting water. Plus, you'll save money by not having to buy water in the parks.

I got a free suitcase from chadwicks.com and it is big enough to hold a case of water and a little more. and we can check it at the gate or the plain. I will be using it for that and then the suitcase will hold all the great disney stuff that we buy there To bring back. I plan to buy towels from B.B.,And thedifferant parks (if they have them). Then after a week at the world we are on the cruise for a week and will be buying more towels there so we need lots of room for the trip home, would hate to have to leave DH there so we could get all our stuff to fit in his seat on the plain on the way home. LOL

I am very much a water drinker--don't touch tea or coffee and seldom drink a soda. I bought the Brita bottles and love them. I bought a pkg of multipurpose plastic ties (like plumbers and carpenters use to bundle things together) put it through the key ring part of a cabiner clip and pulled it tight around the neck of the bottle. The bottle is now easy to clip on and off a fanny pack or backpack strap using the cabiner clip. Definitely makes the water taste better. Before I left the room, I would either put ice in it or an individual crystal light or koolaid with ice and by the time I was ready for it I had cold water or cold koolaid. You can always get free ice or ice water from any of the venders. As much water as I drink, I can't see paying $2.50 multiple times a day every day.

I wasn't aware that you could put anything but water in the Brita bottles because of the filtering system. Am I missing something here?
