No this isnt about the storms. Its about hydrating while in the parks. What have you found is the best way to carry water or to stay hydrated? We will be visiting July 21 - 28. I'm not sure if its best to take water or to get it at concession stands, or fountains? There will be a total of 5 adults and 7 kids under 15 traveling. Thanks for the help.

If you didn't know, and if you're not bothered by tap water, you can get free ice water at any quick service locations with fountain drinks on property, parks and hotels (and DTD!) Great way to get hydrated quick.

I tried the free CS ice water last time - sometimes it took too long standing in line and I needed water NOW. This time, we're going with camelback backpacks. Yeah, they will probably be a pain to carry, but at least I know I'll have water available whenever I need it.

You are sure to receive a wide range of answers. I'll share our method but it may or may not work best for you. We are a family of four. We each have a reusable water bottle (20oz size I believe) that fit nicely into the mesh pockets of the backpack that I carry around the parks. The bottles are different colors so we know who they belong to. We fill them up in before heading out for the day and use both the free ice water found in the parks and the water fountains to refill them. I make sure the kiddos are hydrating properly based on how many time the bottles have been refilled. They have to drink one full container before lunch and one in the afternoon/evening at a very minimum. More if it is a high temp day of course.

A friend recommended the Brita water bottles with the built in filter- she just returned from WDW and said they worked great. They were able to fill them at fountains and counter services restaurants. We bringing some for our Sept. trip.

We brought these last year. They worked well but were a little bulky to carry. I think this year we are just going to bring one to use as a filter. We will all bring a normal 20 ounce disposable bottle of water in the morning and then use the brita to filter new water back into our disposable water bottles throughout the day.

Just ask at any counter service and they will give you a cup of ice water. We do this and then fill our water bottles. No need to haul in coolers full of water bottles!

I highly recommend the Camelbak Groove, available at Target. Carry it empty and fill up with free ice water from the CS when needed. Ask for large ice water with extra ice. We did this during our June trip and it worked great.

We have Nalgenes that we carry. We have used those for about 10 years for about everything, hiking, Disney, car trips, beach, etc. they are great!

We used "disposable" water bottles that are sold on property. We would take them back to the room at night, fill them up and stick in the freezer overnight. For the 4 of us we carried only one bag.

When empty they are lighter than reusable bottles, and we didn't have to worry if one got left behind or dropped and broke.

We got the Rubbermaid filtered bottles and filled them up constantly. The water taste was fine! And it saved us having to buy water bottles or constantly ask for a cup for water.

DD and I used the Brita bottles during our May trip, and they worked great for us. I carried a standard sized backpack and had my bottle in the mesh side pocket. DD had a smaller sized cross body bag that had two pockets on one side. They were the perfect size to slide the Brita bottle in. I filled them in the morning with ice and water, then refilled during the day with cups from the CS restaurants. Whenever we ate at a CS restaurant, I'd always ask for an extra cup (or two) of ice water along with the drinks I ordered with our meals. That way, our bottles were full after all our meals without having to make a separate trip to the counter to ask for water.

If you are taking only carry on bags you could get a couple duffel bags and drop a case of bottled water in each. This only works when flying on 1st bag free airlines. We usually (family of 4) bring 2 cases of water when we go down - we each have a carry-on and backpack for in-flight, but with Jet Blue that also gives us eac a checked bag to use...2 duffels each with a case of 16.9 oz bottles still gives you room and weight limit for a few pairs of extra shoes etc. You can then freeze a bottle each and pack it in backpack or in a pocket of your cargo shorts. The other thing we do is pack the single serving size iced teas and or gatorade powders to mix in to occassionally. Water at $2.50 per at WDW vs me bringing a case of 24 that cost me $7 is a no brainer.

We used Polar Bottles which are insulated water bottles. I found them at Dick's (a sporting goods store). We fill them before we leave the hotel, and then refill as necessary at the drinking fountains. Because they are insulated, the water stays relatively cold. The polar bottles have a little handle so they're easy to tote around. Any water bottle is a pain to carry around, but in the Florida heat, staying hydrated is so necessary.
