Water temp in Castaway Cay

LOL, so true. But, there were only a handful of people in the water (out of the thousands on the cruise), so I think that on average, most found it too cold.

Personally, I need my water to be 82+ degrees.
Yeah, on our cruise, it started sprinkling about 1130 am, and people streamed back to the ship. We were snorkeling, so we were already wet, so we went ahead with lunch and picked up our rental bikes in the afternoon, and road in the sprinkles in our wet swimsuits.

Just got back today from our 4 night Dream cruise. CC was very windy and a little cool Wednesday morning but quickly warmed up. The water was very cold but there were swimmers at SB. As someone noted the water was also very shallow and by afternoon there were exposed sandbars.

Side note for SB......they now have a lifeguard tower (don't think it was there last Feb) and you can not go past the marked areas. You also have to wear a vest (provided at the lifeguard tower) for snorkeling. If you are not wearing one they yell at you as DH and a few other quickly found out. The snorkeling areas on SB are very sterile and DH might leave his gear home next trip.

That part was true before the lifeguard tower. We were there in September of last year and they made you put the life vest around your neck even then. The lifeguard tower was added in response to the drowning last year (IMO). I think it's a good addition because when we were there in September there were several sharks that came into SB and the lifeguard was way back over by the bar. People just stayed in the water even though the rest of us were yelling shark at them lol. I think it's needed for everyone's safety.

The only real change is that you can't set up your chairs directly in front of the lifeguard tower.

PS...which cruise are you on coming up (from your signature)? We're on the 4/29 sailing of the Dream. I assume by your name you're from Pensacola? We are too! :-)

We also just got off the Dream. Coming from New England the water was warmer than we'll feel all Summer so we thought it was doable. I normally never swim in the ocean but spent time in the water here. The windy day just made it hard to get out. Towel!

Castaway Cay was too cold again for us. A November cruise was too cold to swim and this past February 13th Fantasy cruise it was too cold again to swim for both my daughter and I. Tortola and St. Thomas were wonderful weather for swimming. We didn't get to swim in Tortola but did get to in St. Thomas.

We are going agin May 6th for a 3 night. DH didn't use a vest last year and no problem but that was before the drowning and the blocked off area. Yes and grew up in GB when it was just a small community with no High School and the beach had no high rise condos. Miss those days.
