We just returned from a trip on the Wonder and were thinking of booking a trip during the off season. We enjoyed Castaway Cay VERY much, but were wondering about the temperature, particularly the water, in the winter. It was great while we were there, but I am not a fan of the beach if it is too cold to go into the water, so needed to know if Nov-Feb tended to be too chilly.

Thanks for any input!

We have cruised on the Wonder 3 times in January and soon to be 4.
2 times early January-just after New Years- one time, nice and warm, the next time, windy and too chilly to swim.
One time at the end of Jan/1st of Feb, the weather was absolutely wonderful, came away with sunburns.
We are going at the end of Jan and first of Feb again in 2004 and we are hoping for a repeat of the nice weather.

We sailed last December, in the middle of the month. Now, I'm from North Carolina, so perhaps I am simply thin skinned...but remember that the Bahamas aren't anymore south than Florida. To me and my 7 year old, the water was just too cold. I did snorkel, but having far more body fat than my child, I could tolerate it a tad more. (I knew we were in trouble in Nassau when the boat guide on our snorkel trip said..."OK, adults, watch your language when you hit the water!")

From a born and bred Southerner, I'd say Brrrrrr...Castaway Cay is beautiful any time of year, but I would rather have my ocean water warmer.

When we sailed in early February we thought the water at CC was a little too cold. Maybe part of that is because we knew we would be coming back in May.

We are really hoping to snorkel next December.

The water mid December at CC was way warmer than Cape Cod ever gets in the summer.. just heaven!!!!!

When we first stepped into the water at about 8:45 am it was a little cool, but very, very quickly was comfortable. I would still enjoy Castaway Cay without being able to swim, but would much prefer being able to enjoy the water. My children most definitely love getting in the water, so I may try to aim for the later fall, early spring and not necessarily winter. Although come late January I can imagine a cruise would be absolutely wonderful!!

2 years ago ww went in the beginning of February. The water was great! We floated on a air mattress in the water! The day was not hot, just right with a nice breeze to cool you off when it started to get a little warm. I never burn, but I did that day. I was never really hot and it was deceiving.
