Water Socks at DC?

Are water scoks recommended for walking around at Discovery Cove and do you have to take them off with the dolphin swim?

You do not have to take off your water shoes to swim with the dolphins. The sand got a little hot to walk around without watershoes. My family swam with no water shoes on during the dolphin swim. I would say most of the day we were barefoot.
