Water shoes?

Because I'm the queen of procrastination, I'm all set to sail on the Fantasy tomorrow and still need to get some water shoes. If I can't find any tonight or tomorrow morning, does anyone know if they sell any on the ship?

I know I have a pair here somewhere packed in a box since we moved recently. But considering I'm sitting on the couch now instead of looking for them, the outlook is not good lol.

TIA!

I've never seen them on the ships but I wasn't looking for them either

Thank you for reminding me!
We are going on an excursion that recommends water socks, I almost completely forgot to put them on my to buy list.

Where are the cheapest, yet will actually hold up for future trips, sold?

I got some at Wal-mart for less than $10, haven't used them yet to know how well they will hold up, but they were cheap enough to throw away after our cruise if needed. If you can't find any, I would just take an old pair of tennis shoes or go buy a cheap pair of tennis shoes at Wal-mart. I don't think they had water shoes back when I was a kid. We always just wore old shoes when we went swimming/ tubing down rivers.

I had resigned myself to using an old pair of sneakers but then my husband emerged from the garage where all of our boxes are....with my water shoes! "Crisis" averted.

Why do people need water shoes? Is there a concern about going into water barefoot? i assume it's for excursions?

If you go on the aqua duck during the day the floor is very very hot on your feet.

The stairs to the Aqua Duck can get too hot for bare feet. I wore a pair of old sandals then just threw them away at the end of the cruise.

I bought a pair at Walmart a few years ago, and they are holding up fine. I also use them at a friend's lake. One cruise at Serenity Bay, they came in very handy because of the roughness of the ground past the sand.

The pool deck is really hot. I have found that there are really sharp (and kind of slippery) rocks in the water in Mexico and you might want them for climbing the waterfall in Jamaica. :)
We use them here in Florida when we go to Blue Springs due to trees, rocks etc on the bottom that one might step on.

Besides the deck being hot, often the beaches and the "sand" at the bottom of the ocean isn't soft. There are shells, coral and rocks in there. Some of us don't like all that roughness on our feet.

So, would Crocs or flip flops be good enough?

OK, for on deck, on the beaches, not so much.

I get why people want water shoes for beach areas. But if you're not doing that, I thought I would mention what we (and most everyone) does at our local waterpark - wear flip-flops, and just slip them over your hands like bracelets when you go down water slides, rotating them so the sole part is flat against your arm/wrist. Easy to do at the last second, still leaves your hands free too (not sure that would be possible with crocs). My kiddos don't like the feel of water shoes, so it works for us. It was a bit of a revelation when we moved to a place with a far-longer pool season and saw everyone doing that at the water park, so I don't think this is something people do everywhere, or at least we didn't before... so I thought I would mention it.

Flip flops are good for the hot pool deck for sure. But I would strongly suggest something more substantial in regards to being in the ocean or climbing anything with slippery surface or rocks.

We bought them our first time on castaway for Dh and ds because the sand wasn't quite sand (just broken shells) and was painful. There had been a big storm a few months prior and the makeup of the beach wasn't soft sand. We have been there since when the sand was soft and there was no need for shoes. They are expensive on the island and ds was bothered that he had to get women's shoes because of the size of his foot at the time.

If only they had said "yes" when bought my own nice shoes from lands end or ll bean!

Anyway, I would rather have them and not need them rather than not have them and really want them.
