Water shoes for water parks?

We have never been to a water park before. Do most of you wear water shoes at the water parks? Do you wear them on the slides or take them off? Do the kids and adults both need them?

Is there anything else specific that I need to bring for a day at a water park? Do we need our own towels, or are they available? Do I need arm water wings for my non-swimmer kids? Are they even allowed? I think I read that they have life vests available. Do they run out of these?

Wow, I really only meant to ask one question, lol! Well, any answers you guys could provide would be helpful! Thanks!

I'm curious about these things too.

Every water park I have ever been to doesn't let you wear water shoes on the slides.

I always wear watershoes at the water parks in Disney. That being said, I don't do the big slides unless you can ride a raft down it. The conrete at the waterparks gets VERY hot and the bottom of the wave pools is very rough. i could not imagine usung the bathrooms without something on my feet.

we always wear shoes this year we are all wearing crocs. sometimes from walking in the parks you may have a blister and the water parks are all concrete and sand and your feet will get really sore and yes we wear them on the slides too. 103 days!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Why not try sand socks instead? I did a quick search and here is what they look like: http://www.sandsocks.net/company.cfm Amazon.com sells them too. About $20 pair before tax/shipping.

I bought a pair for my toddler at Target at the beginnng of the season - $10. His are made by Speedo. (I've only seem them for small kids by Speedo.) Unfortunately, they were too small and I couldn't find anymore but continued looking at every Target store I went by (including one in Florida while we were there). Fortunately, I found a pair that fits him this past weekend. My DS won't wear water shoes, they weigh him down and he's a typical toddler who doesn't want shoes on. But the concrete at WDW gets so hot he screamed when he first touched it so we put his regular socks on - not ideal. So for the pool/beach sand socks are great. Now you wouldn't want to wear them over rocks and rough stuff but there is a bit of a sole that gives some protection so they are good for just walking on hot sand or concrete which is what you would be doing at the water parks. And you could always slip a slip on type sandal over them for walking through the parking lot to your car or in the bathroom if you feel more comfortable with real shoes on. Actually, I'm thinking I will get DH and me a pair. And because they are only socks, I see no reason why CM's would prohibit them on the slides or in the pools.

BTW, with my DS, I found it was best to gt the size bigger.
