Water rides open in winter?

I am thinking about going to Universal in Feb rather than March because it's cheaper. Are all of the water rides still open during that time? Is it bearable? Do they have control over the wetness like Splash Mountain? Should I just pay more and go in March so I can ride everything?

They are open year round. Splash mountain's splashes are engineered so you don't get wet. Not only will you get wet on the IOA water rides the odds are pretty good that you will get as wet as if someone picked you up and tossed you into a pool fully clothed. In order of soak factor the rides are:

Jurassic Park - slight chance the closer you are to the front

Dudley Doright - good chance of getting splashed

Popeye - almost certain to get wet, very good chance of getting totally soaked

The problem isn't the water rides. it's the air temperature when you get out. Wait until the warm part of the afternoon and bring a change of clothes in case it's cold. You can always go into a restroom, dry off and change.

It seems that late January/Earyl February is a choice time for refurbs on the water rides so I would take that into consideration.

Yeah, that's what I'm asking. Also wondering if anyone has experience visiting at this time.

I have been twice once in early Jan once late Jan early Feb. I am going again this late Jan early Feb. LOVVVEEE it there at that time of year. We stay at HRH so we have FOTL but the parks are virtually empty!!! I do not remember anything being closed when we went last time. We only rode Jurassic park but I remember people coming off of the other water rides wet. We did however do the Fival playground thing Kids wore their suits into the parks got soaked then we went back to hotel. Planned on a warmer day and did it later in the day.

I get kinda hacked at Disney cuz we are now going for our 3rd time and Splash was closed last time and will b closed for 2 months this time. One more thing the first time we went was over Christmas and New Years, Christmas at Disney then New Year at Universal so it was peak time and nothing was closed.

The problem with the Universal water rides is not the splash it is the water guns that people man.......you come down off Dudley somewhat dry and then you get nailed by someone with way too many quarters.

As someone else said, they usually use this time to refurb the water rides. But the other thing about Florida...we have no set weather pattern. It could be really cold that time of year, or it could be really hot. Last year, it was really really cold....down in the 30's a lot towards Feb, even into march. My gf lived in VA at the time and even she said "damn its cold".

Yeah but it's so much fun!

I booked a week at RPH Feb 6-13. My hope is that since DD will be down for refurb, they won't take anything else down at the same time. I will be really disappointed if I can't ride Jurassic Park.
