Water Pressure HELP!

Hey guys,
What could possibly cause this?

First, the pressure in one bathroom started being bad. (like on full blast is is only a slight stream). Then the shower in that bath does it. The tub does not.

Second bath--the faucet does this now, tub and shower do not.

Kitchen--both faucets on full blast and it's only a slight stream, but when I use the sprayer I have LOADS of pressure and my dishwasher works fine.

The water company was out in May and gave me a new meter or something, I think the kind they can monitor from somewhere else. They were in the ground near my main shutoff.

HELP--what could be causing this? How so I fix it? I live in a private home and am not running any other at the same time. We have city water, no well.

Thanks!!

DH works in the water industry and said it would most likely be something internal. If it was something to do with the meter, your pressure would be consistantly bad. He said to get a plumber out as it could be a leak or an issue of build-up in the pipes or something along those lines.

Hope this helps!

This happened to my girlfriend. She had city water, and it ended up being that the tree roots from the trees in the parkway grew into the water/sewer lines. They had to dig up her whole font yard to repair it. The city only picked up part of the repair. It was an expensive venture for her. I hope this is not the case for you, but it sounds suspiciously like what happened to her. Good Luck!

If it was outside of her house, every faucet would have the same issue. Since it is only happening in some of them, chances are it is an issue inside of the houe and they should start there and work their way out.

It happened to me this year, the pressure was worse the further from the main that you got. Turned out to be a clogged water filter. I have one of those whole house cartridge types. I bypassed that and got pressure back right away.

Change out your shower heads. With the faucets unscrew the ends where the water comes out and check and see if there's any blockage. This happened to us too and we're fine now :)

I live in a newer home (10 yrs old) with 1 tree in my yard, and it's not near the house and it's in my backyard.

The water sprays out funny from the faucets in the bathrooms. The one in the kitchen just barely streams out, but when I use the sprayer I have tons of pressure.

This is so odd. I'm calling a plumber next week but I thought I'd ask here first.

Don't call a plumber until you have unscrewed the ends of the faucets and cleaned them out.......

I agree, it sounds like they are just clogged a bit. If you can't unscrew them, spray them with bathroom cleaner like Tilex or rig up a baggie with vinegar and let them soak. It sounds like mineral buildups, nothing major at all.

Do you have any Moen faucets? Sometimes a bad cartridge in one can affect other faucets. I know it is quite common for a bleed through to affect water temp, I'm not sure about pressure.

When you say the water sprays out funny, it does sound like it is the aerator on the end of the faucet.

Any time all your water is turned off, it is good to open your outside spigots to get any debris out of the lines. It keeps the aerators on faucets or the ballcocks on stools from getting stopped up.

We just went through this with our bathroom and kitchen faucets. Cleaned 'em out and changed the little screen......I think it cost less than a dollar to "fix" both. I hope yours is as cheap and easy. :teeth:
