hi,

Was wanting opinions...

Are the water park a all day place/destination...

Meaning can you spend the whole day there and be entertained...

Or are they smallish and can do everything in half the day..

Was thinking to spend a day at each water park or should I do them as half days and then head to the theme parks later in the day...

Suggestion would be appreciated...

We love water slides and all types of rides the kids are above 125cm and happy to go on waterslides... We will be there in July ...

We are staying 10 nights at Disney and I have allocated a day for each park and water park..
So that's 6 days taken up and thinking of doing the other 4 days as repeats for where ever the kids had the most fun...

Look forward to hearing what works for your family or your opinion..

Thank you in advance...

It really depends on your family. The parks are fun and can be a most of the day activity. We went to both last year and each one were disrupted by the afternoon rains. We spent 3-4 hours each time before the down pours.

It definitely depends on your family. We usually get there at opening or soon after and stay until about 1 or 2, but we could easily stay longer.

Since you haven't been, here's what I would do: Plan to spend the whole day at each water park, but go ahead and book some FP+ at a park of choice for the evening. If you decide you've had enough at the water park, you've got a plan for the evening. If you decide to close down the water park, you lose nothing. As for meals, I wouldn't make any ADRs for those days and plan on QS or see what's available when you're hungry and need to eat. It could be an adventurous day!

I like your suggestion!

The water parks have short hours I thought...... Like opening at 10 am and closing at 5pm? Maybe a little longer in the summer months?

My family loves the waterparks. We usually arrive at opening, 10AM and typically stay until closing or close to it (5pm when we go), and then have an ADR at one of the resorts around 7pm or so (Boma, O'Hana, etc.) and check out the resort a little. My kids are wiped out on those days and often end up taking a nap before we head out to dinner or fall straight to sleep once we return. Good days!

We spend all day there but we are a water loving family. Some people want to ride the slides once each and leave but we can ride the same one over and over again, even more so than the theme park rides and I can't really explain why.

not sure what kind of tickets you have but if you do purchase a one day water park ticket, you have access to visit the other water park on the same day.
We did this last year as we started at Typhoon Lagoon in the morning and went over to Blizzard Beach later in the day

10 am to 7 pm in the summer months, but you do have to contend with the afternoon thunderstorms. We haven't done it, but I've heard that if you can wait out the thunderstorm, the water park becomes empty and you have the run of the place. Not many people will arrive AFTER a thunderstorm, so it's just you and those that waited it out with you. Of course, there's always the risk that the thunderstorm won't pass, but you should be able to judge this while there.

When we went to Blizzard Beach we arrived at open and stayed until close. We were a group of 10 including two toddlers. It rained all day long, but we stayed anyway. The park emptied out as soon as the rain started and the lines got a lot shorter. I think our day was better because of the rain. It was cooler, less crowded, and we were wet anyway! If you enjoy being in the water you will probably be there all day :)

Rains can be very common around 3 or so and that can make the water parks a bad place to be. There's things you can do at the theme parks. FL usually has lightning and thunder and that shuts down EVERYTHING. I think they have to wait 20 or 30 minutes after the last lightning before they reopen any of the water to the public.

We went to Typhoon Lagoon this past Saturday. We intended to stay from 10-2 and go to Epcot later in the day, we had such a fun and relaxing time that we ended up staying until they closed at 5. We did all the attractions we wanted to do with time to spare, but we didn't do that many. You could totally spend a whole day there, or just a few hours. Our goal was to relax and have fun, not ride a ton of rides.

We will be there from 9th of July till 26th of July...

Is there generally bad weather / thunderstorms
I didn't realise
But is it like a big down pour but still hot or does it get cold..

I haven't thought to pack jackets as I thought it would be summer and hot..

It will not be made cold by the storms. It is generally more humid/hot right after the storms hit in the summer. You will not need jackets. The thunderstorms that hit in Disney are often brief and random, but happen more often in the afternoon (think like 2-5pm). On our July trip last year, it pretty much rained nonstop every single night we were there, so it is possible to have rain that lasts hours and hours. But I would prepare for at least an afternoon storm most every day of your trip. It in no way will impact your vacation so do not worry!

Yes, you will have thunderstorms in July, and they will probably be big down pours. As to getting cold, no. It's more like you go from 98-100 degrees to 90-95 degrees F. You'll be fine without jackets, but if there is lightning, you will have to get indoors.

Thanks for this bit of information. We're actually coming down for a Universal HHN weekend, but flying in a day early - we don't want the stress and cost of a full park day at disney, but are considering just a waterpark day before the madness of late night Horror Nights! I had no idea you could park hop the water parks on the same day, that could be fun!

We go early in the mornings and stay until 3-4pm - by then we are toast anyway from the water fun and sun!!! It is a full day - although sometimes we do go over to the parks later for rides and fireworks. It depends on how hot it is and how worn out we are!

Is there a bus that goes between the two? We are going to do BB but my oldest wants to swim in the reef at TL so we were thinking about splitting the day. How long does it take to go between the 2?

Also do they provide towels or do we need to bring our own?

I am wondering this too, as we may try to skip over to TL the second half of the day again for that reef specifically! I figured we'd just hop on the first hotel bus that arrived and then hop on the Blizzard Beach bus from that hotel. But if someone knows which hotel is right around the corner that would definitely be the one to take. I would be surprised if there were stations transporting between the two water parks, but sometimes they double up with some other destination, so it's a possibility too.

SSR is very close to Typhoon Lagoon. Basically just across the street. However, the last few trips I have made, in the afternoon the buses from the water parks take you to either EPCOT or Disney Springs and you have to catch a bus to your resort from there. I don't recall if there are buses to the water parks from either of those locations. It might be harder to hop between the water parks than you think.
