Water Parks this August and masks?

Hi! Will the water parks be open this August? If they are, do we know what the mask policy will be? I know that you now have to wear masks even around the pool. If masks are required at the waterparks, you'd end up with a drenched mask. You couldn't really wear the mask while in line but take it off for the slide because holding it in your hand would still result in a drenched mask. Is there anything official on this yet? Thanks.

Where are you getting that you have to wear masks at the pool? When did that change? I haven't seen/heard anything about that...they came out a while ago about masks at water parks...it's like Universal... have to wear it to get in, getting food, shop, but otherwise no. I really think your mistaken about Disney requiring guests to wear mask at the pool...to order a drink, yes, lounging on the chair no.

That's great. I hope you are right. I thought you had to wear masks when you were lounging around the pool. Not in the pool, but if you were out of the pool then yes. Not sure why I thought that, but again, I hope you are right!

So when walking around the waterpark, going from one slide to another. Or from the wave pool to the lazy river, etc. you will not have to wear a mask?

From Disney's official page:

Like the other areas of Walt Disney World Resort, we will welcome back Guests and Cast Members to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park in a responsible way, with a plan focused on health and well-being. When Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park reopens, it will operate in alignment with the health and safety protocols implemented throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, including reduced capacity, temperature screenings, physical distancing markings and face coverings. Face coverings will be required for each Guest age 2 and up, including but not limited to, at the park entrance and exit, retail areas, and food and beverage ordering areas. Face coverings will not be permitted while experiencing water slides or in the water. You may also remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.

Correct. As reported by locals who have been to Universals water park since reopening and who are very familiar with Disney and their policies; you will not be required to wear a mask when walking around the park enjoying attractions etc. You will only be required to wear one when entering/exiting, ordering food or shopping.

Obviously Disneys water parks are not open yet, so they can change, however that is the general understanding and logical thinking of the rules at this time.

I cannot imagine they would require them while lounging in your social distanced chair at the water park considering it's not required while lounging at their pools.

Thanks. Doesn't really say if you need one when walking from one ride/waterslide to another, just that you don't wear one when actually on the ride/slide. But I'm thinking it won't be required.

This is from Disney's website:

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.

Reading this makes it sound like you have to wear a mask even when you are sitting in a lounge chair at the pool. (unless you are actively eating or drinking)

I think if you just think about it and try to imagine the logistics of it; it may help. Where would you put your mask once you got to the ride if it were requires when walking from one attraction to the next?

I'm 100% confident it will not be required when walking to/from attractions. There's no place to put your mask...you won't have it walking around.

And again, it seems pointless that they would require a mask to lounge at the water park, but not while on the resort pool deck. I think that last part is just the same verbiage they have for the other parks. Disney is unfortunately known for not having clear or even accurate information on their website/CMs etc.

You don't. Like I said, rely on the actual information and reports here and take what you read/get from Disney with a grain of salt. It has said that since the beginning, but it has always been reported at the resorts you don't have to wear a mask except when ordering drinks. If you want to wear one when lounging, obviously you can, just know that 99% of the other guests will not be as it's not required.

The information on here from first hand accounts is tens times more reliable than the stuff a cm might tell you on the phone or what they put on their website. Nothing has changed with their mask policies and pools
